My husband said that credit card companies will often cover incidents such as your accident. He also suggested checking with your own insurance just in case. Love your videos!

I have not seen too much about it and I was curious. I would have stolen your pretty small!! It was adorable. So glad you were not injured in your accident. As you say, it is what it is and I am glad you did not allow it to steal your joy from your trip. I am going to one of Katrina Boyd's retreats in Huntsville Alabama in January and it is my first retreat. I am looking forward to it!

Sounds like you had lots of fun at retreat! Maybe one day I'll get to go. So glad you weren't hurt during your deer collision. That's happened to my sister, too! It's scary... Just a heads up, if you use Visa to pay for your rental, you automatically get free insurance through them. I've not had to pay for car insurance when I rent, but always check with the car rental place and Visa to make sure you're covered. When I tried to rent a vehicle in Germany, the rental place said I had to have proof, so I ended up having to buy their insurance. Love your journals and thread keeps. They are adorable!

I have never rented a car and would not have known about the insurance issue. It seems that insurances rule our very existence these days.

Just curious.... I have watched several floss tubes this week that talked about the Midwest Stitchers retreat. All that mentioned the swap also mentioned that they did not steal because they didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings however; they really wanted the small. One "situation" sounded like the person that was going to get their small stolen was very upset and almost in tears. As a result that person did not steal it. Why is this a part of the exchange if no one takes advantage of the stealing or if people are going to get so upset? I love the piece that you received and can only imagine how beautiful all of the pieces were given the attendees. Good for you for exercising your option. It's all in fun, right?
In years past, there were steals in good fun, but this year, we just all supported each other and each gift was as amazing as the one before. The tears were happy tears when the stitcher realized that she would get to keep the item that she fell in love with. It was a beautiful moment of friendship. I can't wait to go back next year!
Hi Lisa, you make some very valid points in your comment. I'm not really sure why other attendees who had the option to steal didn't use it. I also thought it was all in good fun and I might be wrong but also thought the co-ordinator of the retreat felt the same (that's why she set it up with that option). I think you can be supportive in friendships and still have fun with the event. There was so much stitching talent in attendance and each piece in the exchange was lovely. I don't believe in the past retreats the stealing was done with any type of malice...it was part of the exchange and all in good fun. I certainly didn't mean to cause anyone upset or hurt feelings. I'm happy that I ended up with the piece that I did, but I will most likely rethink what I do in any future retreats. Happy stitching, Suzette x
Sorry to hear about your car accident, and that your insurance will not cover it. If you paid with a credit card, most of them have car rental insurance that should cover the cost, you might want to look into that. Love your journals and floss books.

I hope you have the larger book in a primitive quilt pattern before Christmas. My daughter-in-law has just started to learn to quilt. How perfect to keep track of her new adventure. My husband said that credit card companies will often cover incidents such as your accident. He also suggested checking with your own insurance just in case. Love your videos!

I have not seen too much about it and I was curious. I would have stolen your pretty small!! It was adorable. So glad you were not injured in your accident. As you say, it is what it is and I am glad you did not allow it to steal your joy from your trip. I am going to one of Katrina Boyd's retreats in Huntsville Alabama in January and it is my first retreat. I am looking forward to it!

Sounds like you had lots of fun at retreat! Maybe one day I'll get to go. So glad you weren't hurt during your deer collision. That's happened to my sister, too! It's scary... Just a heads up, if you use Visa to pay for your rental, you automatically get free insurance through them. I've not had to pay for car insurance when I rent, but always check with the car rental place and Visa to make sure you're covered. When I tried to rent a vehicle in Germany, the rental place said I had to have proof, so I ended up having to buy their insurance. Love your journals and thread keeps. They are adorable!

I have never rented a car and would not have known about the insurance issue. It seems that insurances rule our very existence these days.

Just curious.... I have watched several floss tubes this week that talked about the Midwest Stitchers retreat. All that mentioned the swap also mentioned that they did not steal because they didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings however; they really wanted the small. One "situation" sounded like the person that was going to get their small stolen was very upset and almost in tears. As a result that person did not steal it. Why is this a part of the exchange if no one takes advantage of the stealing or if people are going to get so upset? I love the piece that you received and can only imagine how beautiful all of the pieces were given the attendees. Good for you for exercising your option. It's all in fun, right?
In years past, there were steals in good fun, but this year, we just all supported each other and each gift was as amazing as the one before. The tears were happy tears when the stitcher realized that she would get to keep the item that she fell in love with. It was a beautiful moment of friendship. I can't wait to go back next year!
Hi Lisa, you make some very valid points in your comment. I'm not really sure why other attendees who had the option to steal didn't use it. I also thought it was all in good fun and I might be wrong but also thought the co-ordinator of the retreat felt the same (that's why she set it up with that option). I think you can be supportive in friendships and still have fun with the event. There was so much stitching talent in attendance and each piece in the exchange was lovely. I don't believe in the past retreats the stealing was done with any type of malice...it was part of the exchange and all in good fun. I certainly didn't mean to cause anyone upset or hurt feelings. I'm happy that I ended up with the piece that I did, but I will most likely rethink what I do in any future retreats. Happy stitching, Suzette x
Sorry to hear about your car accident, and that your insurance will not cover it. If you paid with a credit card, most of them have car rental insurance that should cover the cost, you might want to look into that. Love your journals and floss books.

I agree the retreat was the best. I went to the first midwest retreat. I didn't know how it could have gotten better. But this one managed to be great. Best of luck on your new adventure.
