As I would expect, great interview. You ask pertinent questions and coax intelligent answers like no other interviewer. I can't adequately express how amazing you are!
THIS IS GREAT!! Gerst doesn't get the spotlight as often as someone with his experience and attitude should get. This is the first I've heard from him since before he left NASA. Thanks, Ellie
Ha! If you want the important questions answering...send a girl! Nailed it Ellie! I'd rather an interviewee said they can't comment, than not have the question asked at all! Couple of my own questions ticked off there! Thank you so much!
This was a great interview! It's really, really, really helpful to have a team backing you up! It's almost impossible to conduct a great interview while monitoring sound levels, image quality and technical issues simultaneously. No matter how many times you do interviews, there is always something that goes off the rails. That's where a team really helps out. I can't wait for your interview with Gwynne Shotwell!!!
Great to see Bill in your interview. I remember the fun he had during the Space Shuttle years. Some people augment the video recording with a portable digital recorder. You go Ellie! 👍
Great interview. Anyone wanting to get their message out can be assured you will allow it … no hijacking interviews, no interrupting, no changing the subject before they got the full message out. Your interviews remind me of Bloomberg Technology’s Emily Chang ps … glad to see your channel growing fast.
Excellent interview. Congrats. It's encouraging to see a high-ranking SpaceX manager who has grey hair. Gerst has tons of launch vehicle experience that will help SpaceX through this difficult Starship test period. He's seen everything as a NASA engineer and as a top-level manager.
5:30 ".. I don't expect that's going to go perfectly fine, and that's OK". Well. 9:37 'we're the clutch... so as a Quality person, I'm removing inspections'. Nice choice of clip Ellie. Great to see him so positive. Good job, thank you.
Ellie great interview! I really enjoyed everything you talked about. So wonderful to see a young lady interested and presenting this view to the world. I grew up on the “space coast” seeing most of the launches from mercury, gemini, apollo, the shuttle and now SpaceX. My father, husband and neighbors worked in this industry so I’m well immersed in it. Please continue with your passion it’s wonderful to see.
Great job Ellie! He seems like a nervous type and you have the skills to make him feel more comfortable. Despite the glitch, you made another home run!
Excellent insight anyway from him as much as they can give. People forget they are a private company and dont have to say anything to public. Keep it up Elli, youll get that Elon interview soon!
Awesome video Ellie! You’re one of my favorite Space Tubers! Great interview! It’s good to see that SpaceX employees some chronologically gifted people as well as youngins!
OMG Ellie! You got Gerst! And you got him to talk! 🤩 Do you know what you just pulled off? I don't think he has ever done an interview since joining SpaceX. What the man actually said is about 10X more useful to us and has more information than what even Elon says half the time. And the way you handled yourself was perfect. Congratulations...share this thing like mad!
Yes, a fascinating story from a NASA acquisition who seems to follow the SpaceX creed of pushing boundaries. Keep plugging away, Ellie, you're doing great.
Hi Ellie. Loved the interview and great to see your channel growing in leaps and bounds. I have a comment and please take this in consideration with the greatest intentions. I am an audio engineer and have been for well, I’m 61. My point is; your audio levels need better control. I am a great fan of old fashion VU meters but this is not very portable. There are some digital meters that you might be able to put on your editing softwares master buss. I’m not sure what software you are using but there may already be a window to ‘see’ the audio levels better. I understand the time it takes to create these videos and I get it but, any great video production can be compromised by bad audio. This is well know in the industry. I think your approach to you work with a professional journalistic attitude is great and this interview is proof of that. Keep going strong, I’m a fan.
Great interview, thank you. (And, with the good production practice of separate, backup audio recording.) Always try to make and play a short test recording before starting.
My stick mic would have sounded better, but some sound is better than NO sound, I almost freaked on the plane ride home initially discovering there was NO audio
I was not aware that Gerstenmaier was now at SpaceX. I would include in the description his former position at NASA (Associate Administrator for Human Exploration and Operations) in addition to his current title at SpaceX. Title is too long, but maybe something like: NASA's human flight director now at SpaceX
The shuttle was amazing I have interesting conversations at times with Shawn Moran the VP of my company about shuttle things because he was a part of 25 shuttle missions.
Gerst. This is so cool. By the way, I have difficulty communicating because I had a stroke in Broca’s area, the part of the brain that controls speech. 2/8/2021 but I lived again. (My wife helped me compose this.)
2:40 and that is why I was so happy when I heard he went to work for SpaceX. Hm, work with SpaceX is probably a better wording, although it might imply he is not a part of it :).
After waiting over Two Year's I finally have my Starlink reserver Dish and simply put it was worth the wait, l don't even have it mounted yet just outside on sidewalk it's the very best Internet my house has ever had.
Glad you were able to catch that audio. Great interview. Wish we could get more out of them about testing process and next steps than just a few words in Elon tweets. Are you going to design a "full wet dress 👗" t-shirt? 😜 Can't wait to see the next interview in the series. This is the only way we can get this info. TV news just carries the same dull stuff night after night, fires, tornados, sports and weather. Hardly any world news, science news or in-depth analysis of any subject.
Ellie, You're the hardest working and most tenacious content creator in this field. Great interview.
Great interview Ellie!! Wish he would have been able to answer more questions about the launch mount! Keep up the great work!
😂😂😂
Great interview, Ellie! Well deserved! 👏🏻
Fantastic interview Ellie! Glad to see Gerst bringing his NASA expertise to SpaceX. I love the videos you inserted into the interview. You rock, girl!
Glad you enjoyed it! It was such a privilege to talk with him!

Good for you Ellie .. I have been watching from the beginning and am happy you are progressing so well! Keep up the great work!
As I would expect, great interview. You ask pertinent questions and coax intelligent answers like no other interviewer. I can't adequately express how amazing you are!
So cool that Gerst is the bridge from the Apollo engineering team to the Starship one. Those young engineers must be thrilled to work with him.
That was the first interview I’ve seen of Gerst since being part of SpaceX. Thanks! He’s awesome! I’m glad SpaceX has him and that he has SpaceX.
Nicely done. Bet that was fun. Hope you enjoyed DC. Looking forward to whatever is next.
THIS IS GREAT!! Gerst doesn't get the spotlight as often as someone with his experience and attitude should get. This is the first I've heard from him since before he left NASA. Thanks, Ellie
Thanks!
I am so happy for you. You are amazing. I hope you realize what a great role model you are for girls growing watching you. Thank you.
Aw, that's really kind of you. I hope so! We need more space girls!
Ellie, it's great to see a professional journalist showing passion for science. Keep up the great interviews.
Awesome interview! Gerst is a legend.

Really great. Thanks Ellie! 😍
Glad you liked it!
I don't mind hearing Elon talk a lot about Starship, but hearing other people from SpaceX talk about Starship is simply amazing.
It's truly a massive team effort
Thanks Ellie. You're doing a great job!
Glad you think so!
WOW!!! What a great interview!! Great job Ellie!!
That was wonderful! So finnally you got a SpaceX guy. Now you will find many more to interview and we look forward to seeing them
Hi Ellie;
Thanks again for good stuff.
That was a great interview! I learned a lot.
Worth waiting for

Once again a great get. You are impressive. I echo how hard you work.
Way to go! Looking forward to seeing your new studio. :)
Great job ... Informative . Also on the audio side , perhaps a pocket digital recorder as backup .
that was great Ellie
Some of your finest work Ellie!!!! Great informative interview thanks for sharing.

Omg imagine no sound on this 😫😂 keep up the good work we all appreciate it ✌🏻❤🇬🇧
This video started with some slick editing of some great substance from the interview. Unfortunately he couldn’t answer some of the later questions.
He went from 60 to 0 real quick LOL
Good one.👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Great interview
Always great interviews even if you dont get all the information that we/you want :)

Great achievement, or this interview.
Ellie, Did you learn anything about changes to make Crew Dragon usable as a lifeboat for those who launched on Soyuz?
SpaceX don't mind breaking stuff, but they're using that experience to avoid hurting people.
Between you and Jordan Wright I don't know who to watch first.
Awesome interview, but have to find a way to get Gwynne Shotwell and Elon to wear rapid iteration hoodies at the starship launch...
Your awesome darlin
