I’ve been thinking about getting the Gen 7s and blending them exactly how you suggested, XPs in the 5, 6, maybe the 7, and Ps in the 8, 9, and PW. Great video, thanks!
Another enjoyable and informative review. Thank you. I am interested in the XP model, but I am a senior golfer off 14 with a low 70 ‘s swing speed. I wonder if this will be too slow to generate sufficient spin and landing angle with these clubs.
Great review. Looking at getting fitted for the Gen 7. Only concern is getting fitted in the store they base everything off the 7 iron. With that said, how can I determine the distance gaps if I want to mix the set and tighten the gaps with the scoring clubs. Don't mind paying the price but feel the fitting process is half-ass. Thoughts?
Depending on where you live, you can get fit in a PXG store (www.pxg.com/en-us/stores) where you can likely try several different clubs. In most cases, local shops do not do PXG fittings, but instead they schedule fittings for PXG fitters who work in regions. With regard to gapping, you need to determine exactly how far you are hitting you're currently clubs, then go to a fitting and see how far you hit the clubs you're testing. A good fitter will be able to work off a 7-iron to give you fairly accurate yards for the rest of the set. Then, after you get your new clubs, if you notice a gap, go back to the place where you bought your clubs, tell them what you are seeing and ask the fitter to strengthen or weaken the lofts to get the numbers you need. - DD
Yes, I've been luck enough to get fit for all of PXG's clubs since the company started and have been to Scottsdale National about a dozen times now. I can honestly say the GEN7 irons are the softest 0311 irons yet. - DD
The weight isn’t titanium, it’s just the ring that it screws into which is titanium saves 7g from the centre of the head compared to gen6 which they added to the perimeter
I am debating between the PXG Gen 7 XP or the PXG Black Ops 5 - PW , GW other than the 520 canadian dollars difference in price I am still having a tough time choosing ( I know first world problems ) I am 59 and play with a 8 handicap arthritis and father time is catching up to me so i am looking for something forgiving and easy to hit and something for distance also your thoughts ? or anyone elses is welcomed thx cheers from Canada
There is no way for me to know what will be the best option for you, but I think both could be a good option. Try each club with a custom fitter who has access to a launch monitor and see what the data reveals. Also, if your hands give you trouble, try larger grips (which are easier to hold) and grips that offer more padding or a more spongy feel, to reduce vibrations. - DD
I had a great fitting for my pxg gen 6 irons and putter. I passed on the driver. I’ve brought them back for a putter adjustment and loft and lie checks for all my irons. Was great service. I’ve had half ass fitters at golf tec and big box stores. Can happen at club champion too. If you didn’t like your pxg fitting. Go to another fitter without writing off the brand. Not to mention they constantly run $25 deals to get fit which is a bargain. Not much to lose.
I’ve tested a lot of clubs. The pxg irons feel as soft to me as the mizuno 243 and 245s which I think are the smoothest non full blades. Mizuno kind of gold standard for me for just feel but I play the pxg.
Feel is personal, and what one person thinks or considers "soft" might be different from what other people say. For me, GEN7 irons are comparable to a solid-body blade or cavity-back iron. It's impressive. - DD
Glad you could join us for media day, David! You have an excellent way of describing the technology in a way that's accessible for everyone 🙌

@@DavidDusekHow do you feel about these compared to Gen 6 P version. I’m trying to grab a set but don’t know if the Gen 7 is worth the extra 500 bucks
One of the best feeling irons I hand ever hit
PXG irons are shockingly soft at impact. - DD

I’m glad you liked it. The best way to find out is find a good custom fitter and hit a few balls using a lunch monitor. - DD

Great video, what’s your current bag setup? 5-W and the two wedges? Wood’s?
Right now I go driver, 3-wood, 7-wood, then a hybrid 4-wood, 5-iron-9iron, 46, 50, 56 (at 55) and 60. - DD
I would try PXG if I actually understood their models and understood what's on their Web site.
I currently play 0311 gen 3. They are the best feeling irons I’ve ever hit. In your opinion, providing you’ve hit the gen 3, are the 7 softer feeling?

You are correct, and I could have been more clear on that. The amount of weight can be changed, but the housing for the weight is titanium. - DD

@@DavidDusek do not have the option of getting a fitting i know my stats from a fitting 6 years ago i live no where close to be able to do a fitting
Horrible Company. Bad service and clubs cost way to much
Didn't know we asked you
OMG , Love PXG , ships in 7-10 day, Taylormade ships in 7 weeks, great service. Can’t understand why you said that.
Did the commercial get to you?

*So when you say soft does this mean in comparison to a true blade soft or foam filled soft?*
