Here's my full summary of the issues Man Utd have at the moment: 1. Lacking a mobile, strong-marking and strong-tackling CB. Too many times opposition attackers have eluded Lindelof or shrugged him off. We should be playing Eric Bailly ahead of him whenever he is fit. We need to offload our existing fringe CBs and bring in a quality one ASAP, and then Bailly becomes back-up since he can't play so often. 2. Lacking a dependable DESTROYER-type CDM to be a one-man midfield screen for the defence, so that the other 2 midfielders in the midfield trio system can be released to push further forward. Matic is not quite that player anymore, while the rest of the midfielders typically play "Central" Midfield and shouldn't be forced into a holding midfield role (except maybe McTominay although he lacks that aggression). 3. Lacking dynamic Wing-Backs that are always looking to stretch the game and play forwards with solid crosses into the box. Whenever we face a high-press or compact opponent, we are forced to play long and wide, but we don't have the right personnel for those roles. Tello should solve the left side, and since we're not looking to sign any RWBs at the moment, Dalot should be given a chance due to his good crossing (yes, he is a better wing-back than Wan-Bissaka). I lost count how many times Fosu-Mensah and Luke Shaw played a backpass against Crystal Palace when they should've crossed. 4. Lacking Strikers to play fox in the box, instead what we have are a bunch of Forwards, preferring to dribble and run from deep. This is useless against a well organized defensive unit. From the looks of things Ole doesn't seem to trust Ighalo enough to perform this role - which greatly puzzles me given his promising performances. We continue to struggle against compact defensive teams as a result. 5. Lacking a natural Right Winger, and instead forcing Daniel James to play as an Inverted winger (those who cut inside to play the ball rather than push out wide) on the right flank when he is clearly a natural left-sided wideman. Ole needs to make up his mind. If he wants to play an inverted winger system, he needs dynamic overlapping, deep-crossing wing-backs (don't get me started on him playing Rashford and Greenwood on the flanks, they are Forwards, NOT wingers). If Ole prefers regular, balanced-style RBs and LBs who don't venture forward that often, he's going to need actual wingers. 6. WE NEED A SPORTING DIRECTOR, SEE WHAT LIVERPOOL HAVE DONE AND THE POSITIVE RESULTS THEY'VE GOTTEN. There is something seriously rotten at senior management level that's the cause of all these SHIT seasons we've been having. Woodward, stick to your commercial deals. Bring in a real football insider with negotiation skills as sporting director FFS!
I appreciate Telles’ ability to produce goals/assists but unfortunately we lack players with the ability to finish their runs in the box or across the 6 yard box when we’re in crossing positions.
I would agree but I think that it’s less a result of not having the players to do that, but because we don’t have the players who consistently put balls across the area
We lack players with finishing ability? Behave yourself mate, it’s not like Greenwood, Martial and Rashy didn’t bag 60 between in only their first season as a front three. We will gobble up the goals with them.
@@babatunde7576 I think with the squad we have now we are destined to go back to europa. We have a bad front three, mediocre midfield and a decent backline.
Great thing about telles is that he’ll allow rashford to play more centrally. Rashford is much better when focused on goal. Plus telles means we are in a much better position to play with a midfield diamond
I think Telles will provide another dimension of attack as he will provide more crossing inside the box js like liverpool fullback. And he will allow Rashford to move more inside the opponent box...hope we will get him
Alex Telles might not have a big price tag but he should have one. The biggest star at Porto is a Left Back and he is priced as a one as well, however 25 goals/assists last season tells you this is no ordinary Left Back. This is a top playmaker producing numbers like that from a deep position, who also defends. He is an allround player and leader that will fit perfectly into this team. Lets not forget Shaw is a very good defender and has speed and power like few others and I see him becoming a CB and back up LB eventually due to Telles owning his position from when he arrives.
I noticed at the end Dave had pogba sit in front of the defensive line and matic join the back 3, wouldn’t it make more sense to have wan Bissaka stay back and form a back 3 with matic in front and pogba joining the attack? Or am I just overthinking and this is simply a graphic.
J Brew That’s one way to set up. But Ole’s system requires Fullbacks to hold width while allowing the front 3 to operate around the box in the final third. It allows the FBs to stretch the back line and forwards to exploit the half spaces.
Viswanath I get that but surely you want your world class creative mid to attack and the best defensive full back to defend. In my opinion that’s why wan Bissaka hasn’t been the same. He used to stand around the half way line while attacking now he’s always out of position because he’s being pushed so high up the pitch
@@jbrew7396 That's true. AWB hasn't been the same in the new system, post-lockdown. But someone needs to hold the width in the final third. So ole banks on FBs to do that. Also, the role of Pogba is re-oriented as Deep lying playmaker since the arrival of Bruno. Can't say we are playing to the players' strengths, but that's how it is.
@Johan Sson I agree with everything you said, not skriniar thoug, he is slow and wouldn't be a good pairing with Maguire or Lindelof. Upamecano would be perfect. Diogo Jota would have been perfect. He can be a St and Rw , from Portugal just like Bruno.
United should switch to a 3-4-1-2. Our defense isn't good and pretty slow. You can play Shaw, Maguire and Bailly/tuanzebe in the back 3. This way you can play Pogba, Bruno and Van De Beek in midfield as there won't be as much defensive responsibility on them especially against the bottom half clubs. Telles (if we sign him) and AWB as wing backs; and Rashford - Tony upfront. You can rotate the midfield and/or the strikers to play mason on the right depending on the opposition. It doesn't seem like we are gonna sign any more players after Telles, and switching to a back 3 seems like the most logical option just like Arsenal did. There results have significantly improves since.
Yh because we should target a top class CB such as upamecano over Sancho. Play wan Bissaka right of a back 3 with wingbacks telles and Dalot/Mensah/ James who could do a job at Wingback.
@@mohammadsawlih3869 I like the idea of James playing as a right wing back because if you look at his assists last last season they have all come from that slightly deeper position from the RHS.

Hey Dave can you recommend United recruitment team to sign Teun koopmieners from AZ as a replacement for Matic. Can you please make video of him "Why he's perfect for Manchester United".
Theo hernandez is the perfect leftback for ManU. Honestly I would sell Shaw in 1/2 years for around 30/35 mil probably and make Theo our number 1. Absolute baller, lightning quick, amazing (low) crosses, great dribbeler and good in quick passing (even in the final third), goalscorer, agile and a very strong tall defender with great stamina. He is 22 years so will only improve. Probably cost 45/50 mil (Imagine also singing his brother down the line, but I think we can only dream about the next Neville brothers connection)😢
What? Shaw for 30-35m only? You mean you are going to sell the best defensive left back in the world for 30-35m and buy some unknown Theo guy as if Shaw can't deliver low crosses and we have even bought a low cross specialist, VVD? Are you going crazy or what? And why you need a goalscorer when you have got attackers? Someone call the hospital!
I think the battle for starting spots between Telles and Shaw will be interesting to watch (if we do sign him). Ole might just play Telles against teams that sit in deep blocks whereas Shaw will start in the big games.
The problem with Telles is that we've already seen this season that our CB pairing is too slow. Telles pushing up means that Matic - another slow player - will drop into defence as a back three in attack, with AWB who offers very little offensively also pushing up. This doesn't seem ideal to me. I think we'd be better off getting a better defensive fullback or CB, keeping Shaw (or the new FB), the CBs and AWB back in attack, and allowing the midfielders to create the overloads in attack. Not only would that mean you could play Pogba, Bruno and Donny in the same team, but also would mean that the wingers could be more inside forwards, with Martial using his incredible ability to hold the ball up and play them in.
Alternatively, sign Sancho and Telles, keeping AWB back in defence because Sancho likes to be a wide man and that would give us 5, 6 or 7 in attack with Sancho, Rashford, Martial, Bruno/VdB/Pogba and Telles. This would create both width with solid attacking options, and an excellent defensive base.
Just imagine the 5-2-1-2 with Luke Shaw as a LCB and Telles as LWB !!! I'd do the same with AWB turning him as a RCB and use Dalot as RWB if he's fit. That would support a lot Maguire defensively because he needs pacy players around him and I think he'll perform a lot better in that Libero role. However, I think he'll go to PSG because he'll be a starter and will be negotiating with Leonardo and surrounded by Marquinhos & Neymar. But as a United fan, I would love to see him at the club...
Would be a decent signing. Not too worried about him defensively because we're pretty solid at the back usually. It's his goals and assists are going to be much more important. For five out of the last seven seasons we've had a defensive record capable of winning the Premier League, our REAL problem has been scoring goals, not conceding them.
Dave, what do you think if solksjaer play shaw as a LCB if we didn't sign a new center back, do you think he'll fit with maguire? My point is he's good enough at deffence, fast, and good at passing
I think that's the plan for this year because Shaw is better in Air than Victor and quicker than both Harry & victor. This season we'll see Smalling - blind kind of partnership. Cause Bailey & Axel very injury prone
Fred The Red Finally someone that has sense Shaw doesn’t have the positional awareness required to play in a 2 it’s literally evident against Palace so I say Bailly Tuanzebe Mengi deserve a chance as they have all the attributes to be a top cb
What would your thoughts be on playing Dalot as RW? He's dribbling and attacking is fair, definitely better than Dan James, although he isn't Sancho. With AWB at RB, who has started venturing forward and gaining confidence, our right side may just come alive again. Improve Dalot, use the cash for a CB, LB and a CDM. If not, get another RW who isn't gonna cause ridiculous money. The biggest deals don't always work, and it's immense pressure trying to live up to the price tag.
Thats wht i am saying from last season, even if we sign Sancho, until we find a new right back which have some technical ability, he will may struggle.
How is he compared with Luke shaw? Shaw is actually quite an attacking left back to whom Rashford has a good connection with him. In fact, at the end of th4nyear ,Rashford was not playing as well with Williams as LB. shaw also has problems defensively just like Telles. Therefore, what is the point of this purchase, especially with Williams still young but learning with some starts throughout tthe year
It's good you think so highly of him. He'd be a great attacking threat. Problem with us is we're the worst top flight team.... In the world probably... for heading a ball. Marty, Marcus or Mason aren't heading anything so they'd have to be grounders those wicked balls!
We should sign a lb who can dribble and offer width foremost so there are better options who are younger like cucurella, grimaldo, and we are even linked with mykolenko 🇺🇦 lb, fait moussasa from Rennes, but will be happy with telles as he can compete with shaw and is genuinely better
Telles would make utd much more of a threat cause Shaw just isn't great going forward. Telles going forward gives Rashford space to cut inside and if Maguire can have control of the back line, one of the Cb can move left to cover him, with cdm coming back to cover the defence
As a Manchester United fan I hate to say this, We always get 3rd or 4th choice player. We always get 3rd or 4th choice manager. Board simply wants 3rd or 4th in the league table. God, please save my beloved club from these money sucking goons 🙏🙏🙏
If he Will be our next signing man for man united. I'll rather agree if he play's not as a left back but more push forward as left Winger.. Rashy play's right Winger, and martial at central forward. Greenwood Will be martial substiute

In fact, at the end of th4nyear ,Rashford was not playing as well with Williams as LB. shaw also has problems defensively just like Telles. Therefore, what is the point of this purchase, especially with Williams still young but learning with some starts throughout tthe year
Great analysis, but why bother stressing us to think Utd's gonna sign him? We have had enough of the linking to players and nothing happens.
Dave would you say grimaldo is a better option?
United is a banter team...
They talk to players for PR
could you do a video 'How Arsenal could counter Liverpool’s High Press when playing from the back' Something along the lines of that
By watching Villa.
Mark Ant Lol Liverpool didn’t Press once that game🤣🤣
Dave, who would you have Telles or McNeil?
It's good you think so highly of him. He'd be a great attacking threat. Problem with us is we're the worst top flight team.... In the world probably... for heading a ball. Marty, Marcus or Mason aren't heading anything so they'd have to be grounders those wicked balls!
Telles almost... sounds like Evra. ;)
SMH and Woodward only wanted to bring in British players... This guy will be gold for United
Telles would be great but still need a cb a CDM a right winger and a second striker
👍👍👍
cavani and telles coming today still lacking tho
Jamie Toussaint Cavani 3 seasons ago but now he’s way too old
Would his lack of pace be an issue playing next to maguire?
I don’t care about crossing ability of the players we are linked to anymore. It’s the other players positioning I care for
I'd love for us to sign him ffs. Talk to the people at United Dave 🤣
Did I just get 3 adverts before this video?!
Can you please explain why are Lindelof, Lingard and De Gea not playing like themselves but their shadows, the great MUN mistery.
We should sign a lb who can dribble and offer width foremost so there are better options who are younger like cucurella, grimaldo, and we are even linked with mykolenko 🇺🇦 lb, fait moussasa from Rennes, but will be happy with telles as he can compete with shaw and is genuinely better
Alex Telles should sign with Manchester United and play LB and Luke Shaw could play LCB.
GALATASARAY
Telles would make utd much more of a threat cause Shaw just isn't great going forward. Telles going forward gives Rashford space to cut inside and if Maguire can have control of the back line, one of the Cb can move left to cover him, with cdm coming back to cover the defence
Great improvement we will get 6th! Who agrees
He loves an wary ball that forwards can bomb onto, something United are in desperate need of.
I still think we need a CB before we move for a new LB
As a Manchester United fan I hate to say this,
We always get 3rd or 4th choice player.
We always get 3rd or 4th choice manager.
Board simply wants 3rd or 4th in the league table.
God, please save my beloved club from these money sucking goons 🙏🙏🙏
MADE IN PORTO 🔵⚪
one problem though , even telles croses the ball into the box , there no Manu player in the box to make a header , it's so frustating to watch
I agree with you I think Alex Telles biggest qualities are not suited for United ... he would be great in juve
If he Will be our next signing man for man united.
I'll rather agree if he play's not as a left back but more push forward as left Winger..
Rashy play's right Winger, and martial at central forward.
Greenwood Will be martial substiute
Tell Woodward my friend
Why haven't you applied for the sporting director role , at combining with your excellent player analysis , you could actually make a difference 😪, think about it , would love to see you there .
