  • I finally got around to making an update about baby Iris' heart condition. Her right-sided aortic arch diagnosis was confirmed officially. It is definitely scary being told your baby may have a congenital heart defect. Also trying to book medical appointments during a pandemic is beyond difficult. With hearing loss and a heart condition we really didn’t know what to expect. Having a baby during the pandemic was hard enough let alone needing multiple doctor appointments and tests after giving birth as well.

    Fantastic news!! They believe that heart and hearing issues are connected most of the time. Crazy!! Well you are now in the right hands for care for both of her issues. Normal I consider boring in a way. Challenges are a great way to spice things up. Keep up the good work!!

    • @AthinaKarpouzis
      @AthinaKarpouzis  3 года назад +1

      Really? I had no idea they are connected. That is true. As long as we can manage it normal is overrated 😊

    So glad all her tests came back "normal" aside from the aortic arch and isn't expected to have any further issues! So good to hear from you again xx

      It was very comforting to know we shouldn’t need to worry about her heart. We already have other things to figure out. ☺️ It’s good to be filming. I really need to pick it up consistently as it makes me feel so much better.

  • @itsfaj

    It is very frustrating when you expect referrals to be sent and they're not correctly done then you end up following up on everyone... 😑
    Glad that baby girl is doing well ❤️ stay safe 🙏

    Glad the little one is doing great. It's always nice to see a video from you. Too many commercials in your video 😆. COVID COVID COVID COVID COVID. It's so nice how much hospitals care about their patients no matter what age they are. Did a monkey fill out the email for the referral for baby Iris?

    • @AthinaKarpouzis
      @AthinaKarpouzis  3 года назад

      😂 I don’t set the commercials RUclips does. They are multiplying over time. It’s all about COVID.

    Did you went through amniocentesis test? I am in the same condition as you were. Doctor has asked for amniocentesis test to be performed?

    • @AthinaKarpouzis
      @AthinaKarpouzis  2 года назад

      No I chose not to do that. It was offered as an option so we can see if there are certain abnormalities in regards to her heart etc. but we decided against it. Now that is a personal choice. If you feel it is the best for you and baby you do what you need to do.

    have you looked into genetic testing, for the fact that hearing and heart conditions link to some syndromes.

    • @AthinaKarpouzis
      @AthinaKarpouzis  3 года назад

      Yes we will be getting genetic testing done. It’s one of the things coming up. I will be making an update video soon.

    • @AthinaKarpouzis
      @AthinaKarpouzis  2 года назад

      Iris has a RAA without a vascular ring at this point. So she is clear at this point. We are monitoring for the possibility of it being created as she grows.

    So sorry that you had to wait so long for an appointment. I agree with you about Covid, here in the UK before this most recent lockdown pubs and restaurants and kids soft plays were still open but you could only have a telephone doctors appointment! I think they prioritised the wrong things! X
