So while looking around for a roof basket for the Hummer, there weren't many options. the Gobi roof basket looked like the most popular option, but wasn't exactly what I wanted, so we decided to build it ourselves!

Do it! It's very rewarding to do it yourself, I definitely had help but we built it to our spec and I'm much happier than if I settled for a pre-made solution.

Thanks for this I was thinking about 8inch also but I believe I'll go down to 4" now. Did you do a ladder for this also?
