I think how the rom remembers every restart is by detecting how many stars your savefile has, as a way to keep track of your progress, like any sm64 hack, though it's good at hiding that lol
It's more likely some form of unique save file, I think the stars are just something that gets saved along with that, no clue though but I think making a unique save would be easier than detecting how many stars and doing stuff based on that idk tho lmao
To backwards long jump(blj), you need to find a staircase ex the endless stairs or the stairs before the 50 star door. Then you must long jump foward the start moving backwards while mashing A and you will get it eventually. This also works for low cellings and elevators like the one in bomb om valley.
2:57 from what i remember from playing the mario 3d allstars version on the switch, one of those flower patches is a warp, and i believe that you have to crouch to warp
this one isnt as much of a short game, but I think you might find ALTER EGO interesting! its actually a clicker game of all things, but the progression is actually pretty quick. it has a really neat story with 3 endings and wonderful snippets of some philosophical literature classics! its not really exactly the easist to make content on but i think its a cool game nonetheless!

how to get good ending: once you run out of time and the gray mario is about to kill you restart the game as soon as the screen starts shaking when you restart mario will be there unlike being gone and when you go to the castle there will be nice music
