Great video! Thanks for taking the time to open up and answer some questions 🙂 This video helped me be more aware of how to better communicate with hearing impared people in my life. P.S. You're super cute 😘
AHH Thank you Perri! And yes Part 2 will be coming soon as there were a lot of questions I didn't answer that I wanted to but didn't have time for!! PART 2 IS A DEFINITE!!
OMG the part about other kids laughing at the RUclips video subtitles during class was so accurate. I'm hard of hearing and sometimes the teacher would have to even turn the subtitles off because they were incorrectly saying super inappropriate things. It always made me feel very embarrassed.
LITERALLY THIS!! I didn't say it in the video, but like whilst I was editing it and reflecting on how I felt back when it would happen in class, I kind of felt humiliated? Even though I know they weren't laughing at me, they were laughing at something that I genuinely needed to help me and that made me feel rubbish cause it also disrupted the class? lol
this is absolutely the most comforting video i’ve seen in forever! i discovered properly that i have hearing loss since the pandemic and i finally decided to see a professional, rather than just struggling along, and i’ve been referred for hearing aids now. thank you so much for this video! is there any advice you would have for somebody getting them for the first time (especially as a young adult)? :))
Hey that's so good to know you're getting them! Yeah sure, have patience with yourself adjusting to them! And also the sensation of getting the moulds fitted (if you haven't already) isn't the most comfortable but you will be okay! I'd also say take your time to yourself to rediscover and play with sounds? ik that might seem weird but there's so many noises that I didn't realise I had been missing out on when I got my hearing aids updated and so it was nice to take a moment to listen properly:)) an example of that is the vibrato in my guitar strings that I had genuinely never realised was a thing before ahah
@@evolutionofelliot that’s so so helpful! i’m not sure if i’m getting moulds yet but i was in the moderate to severe category so i might (??? not too sure). but i’m so so excited to actually hear things i’ve forgotten that i used to be able to hear (or things i’m hearing for the first time ever!)
My gf is deaf, I’m learning all that I can for her. I love being able to watch these videos and see everyday experiences but also learn from it. I’m trying to learn ASL for her but that’s taking sometime. I’m slowly learning but wearing these mask makes it hard. She hates it and I hate it. So we work together to communicate
Brooo why did you have to remember me my worst nightmare, YT subtitles? 😩 Jokes apart, I really enjoyed this video, nice to know some other pals! I also have your same type of hearing loss LOL (it's almost weird actually).
AHA They're soooo bad!!! Oh no way!! Yeah I struggle to hear speech so much! Glad I have my hearing aids now though! Thank you so much for watching!! :D x
Lip reading people's conversations is really good to be able to do ngl like my hearings kind of bad but i can hear most things just people gotta speak louder or repeat them or i lip read but then also i can know what people the other side of the room are saying. It really confuses people aswell cuz i can't hear but i know what they're saying and they don't lol
I sleep removing hearing aids that kinda seem confused people trying awake me or something that and that really confused my parents but that really sad that why I never told anyone
Hey Drew, Unfortunately I can't help you, not because I don't want to but I don't have any spare hearing aids/parts and also in terms of what fits and everything I don't know it would be a good idea to give someone else my hearing aids as they're always very user specific meaning my moulds are only meant to fit my ears and the electronic piece operates according to my deafness. Sorry I couldn't be more help but if you need help accessing audiology things in the UK, I know about the NHS services so I could do my best to try n help there? Have a good day! Also I empathise with hearing aids not working and how hard and frustrating it is and I hope you get it sorted soon! - Elliot :)
@@mjsdeafdiaries2702 MOOD omg I'm thinking now about the amount of times people have told me "I speak well for a deaf person" or that "surely you can't be as deaf as you say you are though because you talk" SO RUDE! Sorry you've had the same experience:((
Hope to see more of these types of videos from you! Super entertaining so far and glad to learn more
Ah that means so much to me! Thank you your support really means a lot! I'm really glad it was entertaining! And there's plenty more to come! :D

your septum piercing looks amazing on you! Also, did you ever have an interest in learning BSL?
how did u learn to talk since u have never fully heard words
Love it
I have mild hearing loss but suffer from crippling tinnitus. Do you also struggle with it or are you able to tune it out?
You have any pairs of aids that I can have to wear? I want to have a pair that works. My 4 pairs of aids do not work. Can I email you?

I've got a question: how are you able to listen to/appreciate music as someone with a hearing disability?
they can feel the beat/vibrations.
Does hearing loss affect your pronunciation of words?
Does hearing loss affect you in activities that you love?
i am learning sign langues
It be cool talk to you and have u as friend
Do you have in the canal or behind the ear hearing aids?
Hey! my hearing aids are behind the ear!
sickk septum ring!!
Ahh thank you so much!! I have lots of different coloured ones :D the neon green and blue one in this video is so cool though!!
@@evolutionofelliot that's awesome!
You have nice shaped ears
Omg I hate masks it's so difficult and I even have a mask that says I'm deaf and people still try to talk to me and shit
Urghh?!?!?! What part of 'deaf' on your mask do they not understand?! silly behaviour ahaha!
Right sometimes I don't understand people and half the time they think I'm lying about being deaf since I still use my voice
