With anyone on Instagram or reddit who have piggies, I always tell them about your website and RUclips channel. I love that you always go through these emergency cases, it's so important and some simple tips can help save a life! I'm proud of you ❤

I had extra antibiotics from a piggie that sadly passed. It was recently needed for S'mores who became lethargic, not eating... I go to Clark Animal Hospital where I don't need a appointment. I did need more antibiotics for S'mores full 7 days @ every 12 hrs. He made a complete recovery. Thanks for your concern of piggies and their parents Scotty!👍💛🤩😅

The emergency vets near me aren't guaranteed to have someone who sees guinea pigs all the time. I ended up seeing my regular vet after my guinea pig continued to struggle to poop following an ER visit.

Oh my gosh, I love this content ❤ I remember being a kid and my family wouldn't spend any money on the animals I was always rescuing or any animal we had. I would call vets and plead with them to give me any free home care tips. Today I'm much older and we now have the internet but I'm still rescuing animals. With the outrageous prices vets now charge, you're a real godsend for any child or person whose family doesn't want to or cannot afford to spend that much on their guinea pig. Your channel and the love you have for these adorable guinea pigs is honestly the sweetest thing I've seen in days

Our local vet charges extortionate charges out of hours. We were lucky with one of our piggies that was making a honking noise that we thought was a respiratory infection. Just before we handed her to the vet for examination which would have cost £250 our piggy gave a cough and was fine with no more respiratory noises!! 😂

So thankful for 24-hour emergency vets, even just for supportive care until my pigs can get to their main vet! I had to take Hamilton to a 24-hour vet a year ago because he wasn't eating and clearly had some kind of stomach upset (we're thinking there was something in his hay). They made sure his GI tract was still moving via ultrasound, kept him in a warming oxygen chamber, and gave him pain meds and sub-Q fluids, which I honestly believe may have saved his life. In a few hours, he perked up and started eating and drinking, and made a full recovery that weekend.

Great video Scotty. When things are good I tend to get complacent but when an emergency hits it was very helpful to have an action plan in place. This is a great reminder!

I am very fortunate. I do have one main vet and during his office hours, he will have me bring in the sick piggie and leave her and he will check her out. Then I have another exotic vet that I use in case of emergencies. Also have BluePearl 24 hr. ER. I have to mortgage the house for that one. 😂

There used to be a brilliant vet in the next town to mine and he would take animals of all kinds home with him to keep an eye on them, because he only lived on the premises of one of his two clinics.

I just lost one of my piggies to bloat last Thursday and brought her "home" yesterday. Pay attention to your babies for sure. I still have her sister and she seems fine without her sister, but I've been keeping an eye on her every time I walk by her room and she has a health check in a few weeks.
Thanks for all your helpful videos Scotty and thanks for all you do.

I'm so sorry. Gas drops and charcoal are essential for the emergency kit but cannot substitute the medicine from a vet. Bloat can be an issue itself but it can also be a symptom of some larger issue

I am so lucky to have an amazing vet near our holiday home in UK but no good vets at our home address in Uk. Unhelpful and very expensive. It really is trial and error. I would suggest getting an appointment for a check up before we get an emergency and test vets out that way. A cost that could be worth it. My piggy had a burst cyst and needed a big operation, he really looked like he was cut in half! But the vets were amazing and charged only £140 including post op checks.

Good information. I rescued a guinea pig from Petsmart with a hay poke and was having vertigo. We d not have a local vet that treats guinea pigs. I found a wonderful exotic vet 1.5 hours away. She should finish her medication in a few days. I also ordered the CBD transdermal gel for the the future from LA guinea pig rescue. You never know when you need it. I have other things and will be making a ER kit. Always have a back up plan not for just piggies but for any animal.

I'm glad that you went to see the vet, better safe than sorry. You can also keep teramycin ointment or another vet approved ophthalmic ointment at home for a hey poke. It should be able to heal on its own.

I have found that non of the emergency vets near me will even see guinea pigs which makes it difficult to get help. I have 2 vets that I have been using, but the one is no longer taking on any new patients, so they will see one of my piggies but not the other one which is very frustrating. The TeleVet would be a great option if available.

Does anyone know if vet can really do your guinea pigs paw prints if you ask them to, so that you have them to remember your guinea pigs by after they pass away? I can’t remember who it was that posted the video, but I saw a video by either Abby from Skinnypigs1 or Julia from Little Adventures where they had paw prints done of their guinea pigs and they had said their vet did it for them. Please let me know thank you very much.
