thank you so much for this video! out of all my gcse mocks, i am most nervous for french so far and this video has calmed my nerves a lot now i know more exam technique :)
I'd like to think I'm pretty good for the reading and listening, those were pretty easy. but writing is kinda scary for me, I know everything to do, but i just don't know how it's gonna pan out tomorrow, here's to hoping it goes well 🤞
It's the opposite for me. I'm so good with speaking and writing but horrible at listening and reading. Reading mostly because I don't have the time to and listening because my mind blanks out💀
Hi James - great video! French GCSE class loved it, found it very helpful. Having said that, we have found a couple of mistakes we would like to point out (just in case). For example, Ce cera should be Ce sera (17.33) and J'écouterais should be without the s (assuming you are meaning the future tense and not the conditional), again at (17.33). Hope this feedback helps and as said before, smashing video.
Hi, I'm half french, I speak French at home, I've lived in France, no one in the world ever use "à l'avenir" as a generic way to talk about the future, you just use future tenses (e.g "à l'avenir je voudrais être coiffeur" => "Je voudrais devenir coiffeur")
Hi, responding from another account but I’m the creator of the video. I agree with and understand entirely what you say. The reason I teach it like this is because the way GCSE language exams are marked means that students are more likely to do well if they use clear time frame descriptors like “dans le passé” or “à l’avenir” (even if no-one uses them in everyday language), because then if they get the next bit wrong they can still be seen to ‘attempt’ to use another tense. So it’s a bit of a repair strategy. For example, if I say « à l’avenir je veux… » instead of “je voudrais », it will still be marked as future tense, whereas without that time marker it would just be present. Hope that makes sense 😊
@@SpanishwithJames yes I totally understand, I said that more as a warning for people willing to then use french in a less scholar situation, but in that case it makes total sense to use it

Hi Sir, i just did the writing exam today and I’m sure I justified the opinions but I was wondering whether this sentence does count as an opinion justified? la vie est vraiment difficile pour les jeunes car il n’y a plus de cinéma , il n’ y a rien pour les jeunes car il n’ y a ni parc ou ni aire de jeux, quel dommage! Donc, je dirais que c’est assez barbant et difficile pour les jeunes dans ma région Also, what does it mean by always relevant? If I answered the two bullet points and on top of that, if I conveyed some extra info, will I lose marks? For instance if I also talked about ways to reduce the problems at some points to make life in the region less difficult.

As soon as the exam starts write them in the corner of the page and use them in the text [ ] Autant que Je sache... As far as I know [ ] Je dirais que.. I would say that [ ] Soit... Soit... Either or * only for 150 words At the start of the exam summarise this at the top of the page then tick it off as you go. If your struggling for words in either of them you can reference your opinion then use mais(but) and a contrasting opinion from someone else. And for the 90 words you don't need an explanation for opinion but you can for more words Also the examiner doesn't actually count the words so if it looks like about 90 words than it's fine I hope this helps somebody

What happens if I answer all 4 writing questions? 1a, 1b, 2a and 2b? By how much are my marks capped?
Are the acronyms for each paragraph or for the whole question ?
Whole question
how long should you spend on each question
do you use popfoj for each bullet point or for the whole question?
whole question
exam in one hour, better late than never

I love u so much *smooooches*
Pahahahaha
If you write over 150 words, will they stop marking, etc after about 175 words?
no its just an estimate of what to write as long as you fully address all the bullet points
Do they mark the content if you slightly write over 90 words
yeah just the closer to the question the better
yh its approximately so from around 80-100 words u can write xx
What do you mean justified can anyone give an example please?
so u give ur opinion then explain why u have that opinion e.g j'aime le chocolat car c'est sucré (i like chocolate because it is sweet)
Is this edexel??
AQA, but they're quite similar!
