Though I've been one of the few my age who has loved soccer my entire live (Dallas Tornado!), I won't be paying Apple for the "privilege" of watching the MLS. It is just an incredibly odd ask for a tv partner to want to put the greatest focus on the first round of the playoffs, turn that round into a slog, and then sprint to the finish when you expect to see the best matchups.

      @@davepazz580 you do realize that a billionaire owner can own a team from the lower leagues and is patiently waiting for their opportunity to get into the big leagues. Perfect example, Nottingham Forest in the premier league. The team got promoted to the premier league and the billionaire owner bought like 23 new players and is investing in the team with the premier league cash he received. Also, when you have Promotion/ relegation the players play harder, the fans are more loud and roudy because you are fighting to survive. You are fighting to stay alive in the premier league. Everything goes up another level. Southampton, Everton, Leeds, Bournemouth, the lower 6 teams in the premier league are on edge. There is no comfort. If you get relegated the city and the team is going to lose a lot of money. Most of the players are going to leave, the manager and staff will get fired. It's like a funeral. It's like a death. MLS is too comfortable. That's not football. I like my Orlando City team but it's hard to invest a lot of time into MLS. MLS will have no choice but to go Promotion/ relegation because people are going to stop caring.

    • @davepazz580
      @davepazz580 Год назад

      That's in England, where clubs are independent entities and soccer suffers no serious competition from other big-time sports for fans' attention... this is America where an entirely different sports culture exists, and the entire year is planned out by various sports leagues championship games...
      And no better way to give fans less of a reason for showing up to games than to basically tell them they have to be punished (by no longer having a team in the top division) for what the players and coaches did on the field...
      The average fan will simply dump his soccer team entirely and shift focus to the other, bigger sports teams in town... you know, the ones that actually give fans a *reason* for showing up other than silly threats of no longer being int he top league.
      btw everything you said about players leaving and coaches getting fired is *also* what happens when an MLS team finishes last... so really it's all the same thing.

    • @Stewy-xw9fz
      @Stewy-xw9fz Год назад

      @@davepazz580 it's not the same thing. Football/Soccer has promotion/relegation worldwide. Other countries have multiple major league sports also. England has Rugby, Cricket etc. Italy, Spain has Basketball along with soccer. Listen I disagree with you. MLS will never be a top league with a closed system that doesn't allow promotion/relegation. People are going to become disinterested after awhile. To be honest with you, with the change in demographics and more Hispanics and Europeans and Asians flock to America, Soccer should not try to be like other American sports. All they got to do is get it right. If MLS do not incorporate promotion/ relegation then Americans will just turn their attention to the Premier league and La Liga because when you watch the sport on tv it looks like 2 different sport. I live in Orlando and the Orlando Magic has been trash for like 20 years. Absolute Trash. The Jacksonville Jaguars is the same. So I don't think the American sports fan will stop supporting their team if they get relegated. In my opinion, the Orlando Magic has been relegated for like 20 years. The only time fans show up is when big superstars like lebron come to town. So the American sports closed league system is worse than promotion/relegation in my eyes.
