Aaaaand the fact that so many people brought up Sean Connery as King Richard when he played King Richard in the very movie this one is lampooning is the cherry on top.
Just an FYI at 1:13 they discuss how historically a lord or king could do whatever they wanted to a bride to be. That is a myth. There is 0 evidence of that ever been a thing nor happening. Lords nor Kings did not get to kiss nor grape the bride to be. It was never a thing.
primae noctis - a dreadful practice that should have had rulers roasting on sticks. And too many people have not seen Blazing Saddles! Or History of the World Part 1. C'mon!
Technically, the "Blazing Saddles" is wrong / doesn't work because chronologically / historically this would come about 350-40 years before the western movie. Those 'medieval" village people wouldn't know what a "Blazing Saddle" was and would confuse it with a "riding a horse for a long time" rash.
Mel Brooks has put anachronistic references in his movies since the beginning. The Blazing Saddle reference is just another one. No big surprise to those of us who are fans of his movies.
@@conscientiousobserver8772 You are aware that this clip is the PURPOSE of the video, right? Hence, I am going to make a comment about THIS clip NOT the entire movie. I would do that on a FULL movie review. What IS "wow" is that you obviously have a problem understanding content and CONTEXT of something expressed. Sooooo, "just wow".
@@silverlobo2135 LOL! Good thing it's just a clip. Can't imagine the level of eyestrain you would have suffered using your electron microscope to pick a nit this small on the whole movie. Hence, Wow. Just wow.
Many caught the Blazing Saddles reference but not one caught the "It's good to be the King" from Mels "History of the World pt 1".
I think Ashleigh Burton did.
It's good to watch History of the World Part 1 first.
a few of them still haven't seen history of the world yet. at least not on their youtubes, maybe patreon
Patrick Stewart is imitating Sean Conery, who played the king in Kevin Costner's Robin Hood. Hence the Scottish accent. 😂
Oh yeah that's right haha.

Great references to other Mel Brooks films... The mole moving around paying tribute to Marty Feldman in Young Frankenstein 😊
"What hump?"
@kevinstull8552 wasn't it... Oh nevermind 😎
@raybernal6829 One of the greatest quotable movies of all time. RIP to Teri Garr.
Amy Yasbeck is so damned underrated as a comic actress and beauty.
Ashleigh's laugh😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Only one of them knew about Prima Nocta.
Two of them. George from Cinebinge kind of alluded to it.
Or they saw Braveheart.
One of my favorite movies
Twoo love...
Jen Murray. 'If it's Sean Connery, I'm gonna lose my mind. Is it Patrick Stewart? Better than Sean Connery !'
Awesome movie.
Cam & Zay Marriage you have to be for status and kitty. You want to skip the kiss ...you would marry

All the wacky references in this flick and you choose to nerd-out on this?
