You missed all the fun! I lived in the two-flats at 151st and Woodlawn from 1969-1974 and went to public schools. Wasn't very much fun. Had cousins who went to St. Mary's, though. I seem to recall them singing "Run, run, run. I think I hear a nun. Grab all the bottles you can hold. if a Sister may appear, just say 'Sister, have a beer!' in the cellars of St. Mary's school."
Not the wonderful town of Dolton I grew up in back in the late 50s thru 70s...not even close. Used to be our version of "Mayberry". Loved growing up there where everyone knew one another by name, and were so friendly and looked out for one other. It would have helped if there were narration to this video instead of music;. With the exception of the "S curve" on Lincoln Ave. and the former Mazzacavallo's Little Store and a couple other homes of childhood friends, I have no idea what streets or buildings these are. So many factories, businesses and homes are boarded up and have either been foreclosed or demolished over the last few decades. Sadly this town is unrecognizable and a casualty of an economic downturn.
I lived at 14314 Woodlawn from 1957 to 1967. Went to St. Mary's. Our family moved to Hawaii in 1967.
