You seem to imply that pâté is a cheaper version of Foie gras (goose liver spread) that the Vietnamese invented, when in fact pâté was also invented in what is today France during either the Middle Ages or Roman colonisation and is still very popular to this day in France. The name "pâté" itself is French. The vietnamese simply adopted pâté from the French along with the baguette. Yes the vietnamese couldnt afford foie gras but also most of the french working class as it was and it still is a fancy dish nowadays in France. Anyways, bit disappointed with the lack of research.
