2023 Young Farmer Fly-in to D.C.

In early March, we brought almost 150 farmer leaders and staff to the US Capitol to call for equitable land access in the 2023 Farm Bill. Young and BIPOC farmers from across the country led 159 meetings with Members of Congress and USDA to share their stories and lift up our One Million Acres for the Future campaign (learn more at youngfarmers.org/land).
Nearly half of all U.S. farmland is expected to change hands over the next two decades, the average U.S. farmer approaching 60 years old, and young farmers are leaving agriculture because they cannot secure land. The 2023 Farm Bill will dictate farm policy for the next decade. We have a critical opportunity right now to push for equitable land access, climate action, and racial equity in agriculture.
