@@helenbansiloy4315 and do we have data to support the direct output of hearings versus the law they have amended or created? I believe the Senate and HOR is wasting valuable time and taxpayer resources by engaging in numerous "in aid of legislation" investigations that appear to produce little legislative impact. These inquiries, often presented as efforts to gather information for lawmaking, seem to serve more as political theater than as genuine attempts to improve governance. I challenge the Senate and HOR to provide concrete evidence of how many laws have been meaningfully amended or updated as a direct result of these investigations. If the primary outcome of these proceedings is merely grandstanding, with no tangible legislative progress, then we must question their purpose. This practice risks becoming nothing more than a "kangaroo court," where the focus is on sensationalism rather than substantive legal reform. The Senate and House should prioritize accountability by ensuring that such investigations lead to actionable outcomes. If these inquiries are truly in aid of legislation, then there should be a clear and demonstrable link between the investigations and the laws they claim to improve. Without this, the Senate may be seen as misusing its investigatory powers, detracting from its core responsibilities, and failing to serve the public interest effectively.

I hope (and insist) the committee will send Cassandra to the local city jail for safekeeping and for contempt of Congress. I believe she is trying to mislead and to refuse to answer their questions.
Does nobody see the blatant violation of the Philippine Constitution, regarding the right to remain silent? We should remember what the House of Representative did. Anybody who is under oath can invoke the right to self incrimination in threat of crime such as PERJURY.
What is your basis? Again the right to remain silent applies only to custodial investigation. This is a House hearing in aid of legislation. Although the right to be self-incrimination may be invoked here, to be incriminating there should be a identifiable crime and the witness is probably guilty of. Anong crime yung maccommit pag sinabi mo kung san ka nag college hahah
@@ManilaNoir I believe the right to remain silent and the right against self incrimination is the same, and because she was under oath, there is a possibility for her to commit the crime of PERJURY. Therefore she may invoke the right against self incrimination. Also if one is to invoke such right, all inquiries should stop and not be pressured in any court. Just like what happened in the congress, and because nobody objected to this action, and they even continued to pressure her with contempt of court, the congress had violated her constitutional right.
@@ManilaNoir Don't get it wrong though, there is a proper venue for this, and i believe that the prosecutors can solve the issues involved in POGO. But it is dangerous when such a respectable and powerful institution such as the congress is willing to violate constitutional rights.
@@ManilaNoir well if there is no crime---to speak of then she can choose not to say anything. I think is is wise for her not to say anything and be cited in contempt. Congressmen have mandate for them to have hearings in order to legislate better laws in preventing repetition of crimes.
@helenbansiloy4315 You are correct. But such mandate can not be used by Congress over and above the right given by our constitution for us to remain silent and protect ourselves from self incrimination.
And in court, she will just say " I refuse to answer to protect my right against self-incrimination. "
Pareho lang .
Kangaroo court Po Kasi Yan, ganun talaga.
