Given all the admiration for Sohyang, I want to share my candid thoughts.
Her voice is delightful at lower frequencies, with a deep and rich texture. Her high notes are some of the best in the world, leaving listeners speechless with their beauty and emotion. However, Sohyang doesn't seem to have an inherently fiery personality, which might explain why she isn't known for powerful singing. It seems that’s not the path she's chosen. Haha.
From her singing alone, she seems to have a gentle, kind, and feminine demeanor. Is that accurate? Haha. Powerful singing is often most impressive when it matches the singer's natural personality and abilities. If it doesn’t align, it can be frustrating and fall short. Sohyang doesn't appear to convey much masculine energy or intensity.
In Western vocal training, the advice is often to elevate the sound rather than push it forward. When reaching high notes, it’s about sublimation rather than force, embodying feminine energy.
Sohyang shines in this area-her performance is stunningly beautiful and deeply moving, like a rare gem. It feels as though she was born with this talent, not something she had to learn. She truly embodies the essence of high-pitched beauty. This is an extraordinary, pure gem that stands out in the world.
For context, I’m not particularly interested in pop music or high-pitched songs, and I only recently discovered Sohyang. My review is based purely on the music itself.
When it comes to songs that require effort, finding Sohyang’s best might be challenging, and it doesn’t seem to be her primary strength. I believe her strengths lie in both the lower and higher ranges, where she excels as a first-rate gem. Haha.
Even though I initially wanted to dislike her due to all the praise, I was genuinely moved by her performance.
