You gotta set the deck height as its doesn't come from the factory at the correct measurements. Just put it at the heigh you want to adjust (3) then get under the deck with a tape measure and measure the blade distance to the ground. Adjust the bolts on the chain until it is true to the number and you're good to go. They recommend it to be slightly lower in the front than the back. Just refer to the manual. I have a 52" V ride 2 with the velocity deck and it is the best mower I've ever run.

The bigger the blades, the taller you will have to mow. Smaller mowers will ride over the unevenness of the lawn, but bigger mowers will just scalp all the bumps. You will have to pay a lot more attention to how flat the lawns are with that thing. If you are mowing a lawn on a newly constructed home, you need to be very careful. New homes have absolutely horrible lawn out where I live in Texas. There were dips in our lawn that you could have easily broken an ankle in.

You should never cut grass below 4”. Anything below 4” will put way too much stress on the turf unless you get rain 3x a week. I’ve been in business for almost 15 years, about 90% of the lawns I cut are set on 4 1/2”. I have a 61” vride 2 with 37hp Kawasaki engine. You are also turning it wrong. You should do a 3 point turn or when you get to the customer you will tear up their turf. Those machines stripe amazing, just put the front tire about 3” on the next stripe where you haven’t cut yet.

When I started I had a Honda mower from Home Depot, echo weedeater and edger. These were all items I had for me to do my yard.

The Nutthouse I was referring to WHY you said you started a little lawn care business. You said it like it was something you where forced to do. Not something you wanted to do. That’s why I was asking what you meant?

Sorry for the late response. Depends on the angle you are going at it and how steep. I had an issue going sideways.

I have the 36 and I mow in Cincinnati and several of my properties have very steep and high hills. I have to go straight up, but it moves without hesitation. Going horizontal is difficult because it wants to slide.
