@@all4freedom100 It's the same as when I was in the Intelligence Community. You're expected to get it wrong more than you'd want, just be prepared to explain why!
@@MaxVelocityWX You might be too young to remember, but the South has had some pretty significant snow storms... '93 and '96 and again in '08 or '09. The last snow in the SE metro Atlanta area was 2014. I have a feeling that in the coming years we'll see more.
@Kellyguy28 please get your facts straight,it can snow in the deep south, look up the winter of 1993,alabama got over 12 inches,so please don't say it can't happen
Max. You are Superman. Thank you for being with us all day yesterday. My husband is a fuel driver in Alabama. He had you on in the truck for his shift. Thank you!!!!!
Yay! Before I was bamboozled into being hired as a part time airport manager in rural Maine, I LOVED snow storms! Now, doesn't matter if it's 4" or 14", it means one thing. The morning after the snow stops falling, whatever I had planned is cancelled, 8 hours of plowing.... Yay!!! I'm kidding, I like the gig, and the MASSIVE $80,000 yellow plow truck the FAA gifted the airport 10 years ago is actually kinda fun to drive. Especially when the snow is super cold and light, when you drop the 16' front plow blade angled full right, drop the right side wing blade, and run down the runway at 30 MPH with a HUGE plume of snow blasting over the runway light fixtures! It takes two runs in each direction, start with the left edge of the front blade on the runway centerline, most snow makes it off the runway if you push fast enough. If you're slow or it's wet and heavy, not so easy. Honestly it's the parking aprons and areas in front of the hangars that take the most time. Luckily we scored a 1 ton 4x4 ops truck with a 9' straight blade from the Federal Govt to use for the smaller, detail work that becomes tedious with a massive highway department sized plow truck. Still, I'm not sure what they were thinking, or if all those massive plow trucks don't have the options, but why in God's name would they place a huge airport plow truck like that in northern Maine which is only capable of 2X4 drive?!? Are trucks that size available in 4X4 configurations? I gotta think they are, because everyone who has plowed with it has either come REALLY close to getting stuck and needing a pullout, or has very much lost all traction and needed Public Works to come save them. And no, the tons of granite boulders they have loaded in the dump bed don't really do a lot. The middle drive axle is a dually, and all four tires are 2½ feet wide, which REALLY distributes all that weight across such a large area it largely negates the benefits. And no, absolutely no chains on tires that operate on runways or taxiways. That's a quick way to cause millions in surface damage that we don't have anywhere near enough to pay for! Man, this comment kinda turned into a diary entry all of a sudden. Everyone had a diary, right? With a heart shaped lock on the front? And with a pink cover adorned with an obnoxious amount of glitter that gets everywhere, right? No? Yeah, neither do I, I was just kidding!
