Lord I feel old watching and all I can think of is church lady and Hans and Franz . Good to hear all the old references and watch Jimmy ask all the questions we all want to .
Lotta folks rag on him saying he doesn't do good impersonations.. and that's because he isn't an impersonator. He does 'impressions'... which means he gives you the impression of the character, with a comedy ham up. And he's brilliant at it.
AGREED. If you did a perfect impression of someone then it would be like a printer printing an exact copy and everyone would yawn. Who wants that? There needs to be more to an impression than sounding like someone.
Omg “rag on” up here in Canada you can’t use that anymore, lol, of course any politician that used that Pocahontas slur would be “down the road “ and rightfully so, lol loved the interview
This is the BEST Dana Carvey interview I’ve ever seen! Saw him perform live yrs ago and I couldn’t breathe from all the laughter (comic genius!); but often I’ve felt he was too silly or over the top in his tv interviews. Altho he did a few really good impressions in this interview, this is the first time he talked so much abt himself AS HIMSELF. I really like him as himself, and learned so much abt him (e.g didn’t know he was an actor b4 he became a comedian)!
That movie is a classic. It was free on RUclips a month or so ago, so was part II, so I rewatched both of them. Part II lost sight of Garth's genius with technology and didn't have the character development or the same beats and Aerosmith was just "there," unlike Alice Cooper whose band was like, they were all history experts lmao. They did a good job with the first movie.
Dana Carvey's church lady character on SNL was hilarious 🤣 He was spot-on. With his imitation of Donald Trump, 🤣 I still watch the reruns of the Church Lady on RUclips.
We need a "Church Lady" movie NOW.... Dana is the perfect age and of all the past SNL characters that could transfer to the big screen, I could see it being a smash hit!
I’d watch a show where these legends just sit around and chat. I wish they’d film the podcasts. Their voices are great but you get so much more from their faces and physicality
I love that Conan tapes his podcast but they only put a few up. StarTalk I think tapes their podcasts (not fully sure though?). But yeah more podcasts should upload to youtube as well.
I saw Dana Carvey perform for a First Data Corporation Christmas celebration years ago and he just cracks me up every single time. He is beyond talented and there is never a dull moment, absolutely none, when Dana is involved. He seems like he possesses a prodigious memory. When he starts riffing an impersonation it always is so polished and hilarious. Comedic genius.
If Jimmy doesn't already have Dana booked for another show yet, then he's really missing the boat! What a great interview and chemistry between them both!
Jimmy doesn't get enough credit for being a great interviewer. If the guest is saying something interesting or funny, he lets them have the time to develop the thought.
That is so true, Gary, and it's something a lot of comedians can't do. You have to project yourself into the other guy's head, read where he's going and then, as you say, shut up and stay out of the way. Some comics can't staunch their own egos because they are so used to being the star. Not a criticism, just an observation. This resulted in a terrific interview where they are both having a blast riffing with each other. Sometimes, Dana comes on a bit nervous and manic, a bit Robin Williams, and I feel bad for him. Not this time. Lovely to see him so relaxed with Jimmy. I'd love to see him come back!
Totally agree! Sorry but Jimmy Fallon and Kelly Clarkson irritate the heck out of me in their interviews bcuz they ALWAYS make it about THEMSELVES instead of their guests! Who cares?! 😡
Leno was better, and Johnny Carson was the Best. Kimmel & Colbert are not for me - way too much misdirected Trump Bashing. Get Over It. If you insist on Bashing Poor Performances - look no further than the WH now. The older guys of Late Night (including Letterman) would never behave in that manner, no matter what their politics or beliefs were.
10:25 😁 it's True tho, he really was! I'm old enough to remember when Mickey Rooney was all the rage as we used to say back then🥰 . This a Great episode of the Jimmy Kimmel show!
The podcast with Laraine Newman had the most hilarious Mickey Rooney stories. I love the one where Mickey waves $5000 in Dana's face and says "Think I can afford lunch?"
Watching Dana Carvey is bring me back 40yrs plus. Always extremely funny.... Dana you still look like you are in your twenties.. no fair...I'm 70's plus.. Great Show!
I love Dana Carvey! He’s hysterical and just a trip to watch. Sometimes I go down rabbit holes and watch Dana’s interviews, stand ups and impressions and I’m in awe of his talent.
My favorite skit was Dana as Ross Perot with Phil Hartman as his vice presidential candidate whose name I can’t remember. They were driving in a car and it is hilarious! Still makes me laugh!
I cannot get enough of Dana Carvey. He is just so funny. Him and David Spade. 19 years of Jimmy Kimmel Live and this is his first time... i hope he will come more often from now on. I seriously thought he was turning down Jimmy when he said he has to go have dinner with Spade😆!!!

It's a real pleasure seeing Dana again, especially since he's never lost his edge of being funny and a genuinely nice guy.

Snl with carvey, Phil Hartman and Chris Farley and all the rest of the cast was one of the best cast..

Johnny Carson was the best Reagan. He WAS Reagan.

Loved this. Dana just puts a smile on my face.
His impersonations are so spot on! I immediately recognize them all!
Fly on the Wall is my favorite podcast right now. I look forward to each episode. It's hilarious.

Dana Carvey is simply the best, any interview he crushes it. Living legend status
Kimmel was very happy and laughing through that interview. .Jimmy was visibly impressed with Dana and in fact a bit in awe.
I liked Dana's little, "my face is pretty plain they just have to add scaffolding". So great Jimmy and Dana could finally get together.

I want to see Dana Carvey, Gary Oldman, and Sam Rockwell do a buddy comedy where they play brothers.
Top bill indeed! And may I suggest Christopher Walken as the troubled uncle?
I’d watch that!
That was a brilliant video and it was quite nice to see your guest work his way up in life. Marvellous video Jimmy
Wow never knew he was an actor before Comedian. And that Leno impression!!!! 🤣💕👍
Gary Oldman doing a great Dana Carvey impersonation.
Thank you Dana and Jimmy for
Keeping Americans laughing 😂
We really need it during these times
Carvey claims those are just random Trump phrases strung together, but I swear that was a verbatim quote from one of his speeches.
