I'm 2 years late, but Seiko Matsuda was the top singer/idol at the time, so of course there would be more performances of her on TV. All of her singles hit no 1 from 1980-1988 (from Kaze wa aki iro) . Although IMO her better songs are the album songs, not the singles.
