    Dang it Bill - you must hate my bank account! Like OUTRUN and virtual pinball, this is a cab to help round out a home arcade; something to add to the WOW! factor when friends come over. Now I had a DIY shooting cab using a 20" Dell & a Wii (which is now hooked up to the ALU). I found that even the 20" screen was a bit too small. Of course, I'm old as the sun and blind as a bat.... I'd feel more confident about buying this cab if there were gun replacements at A1up's site, as it appears to be the most likely thing to break. Great job as always Bill!

      ROFL... listen I steared you in the right direction with the OutRun. I do know the screen size is an issue for you, but other than that this thing is GOLD!!! The replayability of this thing is just amazing. There are some issues, but if you can get past those then it's a great addition. They do need to do something about replacement parts though. But that is an across the board issue for them. They really need to put some love into their actual website, the neglect for that thing is real! Thanks though buddy!

    Nice to see that you took the Easy suggestion at first, just to get your bearings. That's good that you switched to Normal, and from what I can see, your play is better than most reviewers I've seen. For me and my wife (plus guests, one of whom is clearly over 6 ft), the screen size and cabinet height made no difference. I never said anything about either, and no one complained about it affecting their play. We all played standing up. As the primary users of the cabinet, I'm 5'5, and my wife is 4'11, so for long term use, we're pretty lucky with our height. Haha. From the distance we play at, we can always see our targets clearly. I still haven't bumped up the difficulty though. We're having too much fun with easy mode. Hopefully someday we'll increase it. Also, I paid $900 Canadian after tax for it. We get no sales around here. Still, I find the cabinet totally worth it, as it stands as one of my favourites still. It was nice seeing your impressions on it. Thanks for the review.

    • @originalconsolegamer8572
      @originalconsolegamer8572  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Greg! Yeah that suggestion of starting on easy and sitting closer was a big help! I played that way for a solid day or two before I bumped it up. I think I would have been pretty frustrated without starting at easy, but now that I got my bearings I love the pump action and challenge on normal. Yeah if you don't see yourself needing to make a modification as far as height or screen size, then it is definitely worth it even at full price. I do prefer playing sitting, and I have those extra stools so it works out. I'm really borderline on the screen size. I think I can live with it at it's current size, but I may upgrade down the road. I will have to wait and see. Regardless, thanks for the tips, and I'm happy that you and your wife are having such a great time with the cabinet!!!

    I originally posted a negative review for this cab because I tried the CoolToy Tulsa Arcade 20 inch monitor mod. I couldn’t get it to work properly and gave up. I took another shot at it and realized I didn’t have the DVI plugged into the monitor properly. My error. It’s working perfectly now and absolutely love the cab. In my opinion a 20 inch monitor is needed. Arcade 1up should of made this cab with one. Besides that it’s a great cab.

    Original Console Gamer,
    Great Review! If this is indeed playable from around 3 feet away from the screen (I was afraid as other reviews I've seen said 6 feet or more) then I don't see a problem with a 17 inch screen (for me). Still, I wouldn't count out a bigger screen version just yet. Arcade1up has surprised me over its small tenure with a Star Wars Arcade machine with all three arcade games included, a Ms. Pac-Man Machine, and a Cocktail form machine. All of these were said to be impossible for Arcade1up to pull off, but they did.
    Arcade1up has spoke on a number of occasions on possible larger monitors for games that might benefit from them. I think if the community keeps sending this message Arcade1up's way, who knows?
    I'm still on the fence on whether to buy now, or to wait, but your review has given me more insight than I had before. Thanks so much!

      Thanks I appreciate it, yeah I don't know WTF people are doing that far away. But yeah from that closer range the smaller screen is passable. I mean bigger would still be better, but the 17" gets the job done. I mean it is possible that they put a 19" or 20" monitor in a future light gun game, but I would also see them charging $650 or $700 fro it as well. So it's a catch 22.

      Original Console Gamer,
      Yeah, I seem to remember in one interview with an Arcade1up rep, maybe John D., but don't hold me to that, they said the 19" monitors were about $50 more expensive and that's why they've stuck with the 17" size. Still, I'd pay more for a cabinet that required it like a lightgun game (especially with the extra real-estate gone used by the Sinden system). For all my other Arcade1up 3/4 scales however, 17" has been just fine :)

      Hey what's going on? Still LOVE this cabinet. Mini games are hilarious. Replayability is extremely high. I'd say by far the best multiplayer experience as well in my arcade. I mean if you are REALLY into fighting games, then maybe not. I've had probably 30-40 people play on it, and they all love it. That's a wide range with kids of all ages and adults. It is not perfect. There are issues with it just like every other cabinet. However I believe the good far outweighs the bad, and this is a must have IMO. I always wanted the T2 cabinet, and after playing this for what 6 months now.... I'm not sure if I will even get the T2 cabinet or not. This fills that void for me, and I just think the score and skill based aspect of it adds more to the cabinet overall. Other than that I've doing great. I started coaching my kids baseball team back in the Spring, and have just been heavily involved in that ever since. I may get back into making content soon though. Just waiting for the right time.

      Original Console Gamer,
      Thanks for the update! I also got one from CoolToy on his Big Buck and he says it's still going strong! So that cinches it, I'm getting one! :)
      I of course wanted to make sure the cabinet was sturdy and that the controls lasted and I'm glad to hear they do. What finally got me really interested in the cabinet was seeing videos showcasing Big Buck's mini games. Sure, the main game looks fun enough, but wow, those MINI GAMES!
      Before Arcade1up announced their first lightgun cab, I petitioned them on two cabinet ideas:
      1. A House of the Dead / Virtua Cop cab with 7 games, House of the Dead 1-4 and Virtua Cop 1-3. I wanted a huge line-up of games on this cabinet, because of each game's limited replay-ability. Sure, I know Arcade1up, and they would NEVER give the consumer this much value in one cabinet, and yes, it would have to have a beefier PCB which would raise its cost (not a big deal for Arcade1up now, as they now raise the price on all their cabs), but that's what it would take for me to buy a shooting cabinet like this with limited replay-ability in my small space.
      2. A Time Crisis / Point Blank cab with 8 games, Time Crisis 1-5 and Point Blank 1-3. Again, too much value for Arcade1up to muster, and a more expensive PCB required for the later Time Crisis games, but I'd accept a cabinet with just Time Crisis 1 and 2 if they included all the Point Blank games, which wouldn't need a higher end PCB to run and still include that unlimited replay-ability.
      In the end, what I really dreamed of from Arcade1up was a lightgun cabinet with a huge amount of replay-ability, which the Point Blank games had. Shooting Gallery Heaven! Little did I know, Big Buck is an incarnation of this! A veritable MINI GAME FEST behind the main game!!! If Arcade1up would've just put the tiniest bit of advertising behind showcasing the mini game extravaganza of Big Buck, I would've been on board day one!
      It's funny how you mentioned fighting games. I LOVE THEM TOO! Another wish cabinet I petitioned Arcade1up for was a Darkstalkers Trilogy cabinet. My heart sank when they included just the first game on their cocktail and Legacy edition cabinets. I thought, this is all we're going to get. But low and behold, rule number 1 with Arcade1up, DO NOT BUY their first attempt (or even second attempt) at a new game cabinet. Wait 6 months for the good one to be announced :) And in Arcade1up fashion, Street Fighter Big Blue was announced! This one includes ALL THREE Darkstalkers arcade games! And better yet... The cabinet has a Live feature where you can play others online!!! SO COOL! And though still not my absolute dream Capcom library, all 12 games in total are AMAZING! And like Big Buck, unlimited replay-ability value!
      T2... I can say I had some great times with this machine in my college arcade. However, I just can't see myself buying this one, because of it's limited replay-ability. Sure, if I had infinite space in my arcade, I'd consider it, but even if it came with Revolution X as a possible second title, it's a hard pass for me.
      As for RUclips content, if you ask me, life comes first. Sure, I miss not having a steady stream of new Original Console Gamer videos, but I don't think people realize just how much time it takes to create worthwhile content, especially if you want it to be worth watching. You have a good catalog of videos that I think people can continue to enjoy. I'll always look forward to something new if it comes in the future.
      Thanks again for the update on Big Buck. It will be making its way into my home arcade :)

    Sorry this is out of the blue, but I had an important question to ask. My wife and I were trying to play 2 player mode last night, but we saw that when one player was selecting the starting menus, the other players gun wouldnt work selecting anything. For example, when selecting big buck hunter pro or safari, or when selecting the deer type, only one gun would register. Both my guns seem to register when we get to the round selection though. I wanted to verify if this happens on other cabinets, or if it's just mine.
    I kind of need to work out the issues while I'm still in the 3 month warranty period. Another issue I have is that sometimes the orange gun doesnt register, and that I'll have to disconnect, then reconnect it. It's a bit annoying. Sometimes if I start up, both guns wont even register, bit I think that's because if I press the orange button to start the game and the orange gun isnt registering, it locks the green gun from selecting menus. If I go back to the menu with the green button, then the green gun works again. I know, it's a total mess. I'm really just trying to determine if my guns are shorting out randomly, or if having only one gun working at a time during menu selection is a normal thing.
    I hope I explained it clearly enough. If you have a few minutes, would you mind checking it out for me, and letting me know? Thanks man.

    • @originalconsolegamer8572
      @originalconsolegamer8572  3 года назад +1

      You know I thought that I had experienced the same issue that you are describing. However I just tried about every scenario possible, and it appears that I could use both guns to select the animal I was hunting. I mean even when I select single player mode, I can still use the 2nd gun to select the animal I wanted to hunt. The only time I've had a real issue with a gun going dead is when 1 comes unplugged and I have to reconnect it. Then I typically have to restart the machine. Sorry man... hope that helps.

    • @gregdickson4767
      @gregdickson4767 3 года назад +1

      @@originalconsolegamer8572 Sorry if I wasnt clear. I can get to the part of selecting treks/animals/round to pick with both players. However, when I'm in the first menus upon starting up (big buck pro or safari/number of players) only the player who pressed the button on the cabinet to start the game can select those first menus. The second player's shots speed up the timer on the upper right. I just wanted to confirm if it was the same on yours. Because I could have sworn that either gun used to be able to select those menus in the past (I could be wrong though). Also, I ran into one more issue where both guns didnt work no matter what, but after I turned off the room light, it seemed to work fine. Has lighting ever affected how the guns register for you? Thanks for the response.
      I get the disconnecting gun thing though. My orange gun tends to do it after starting up sometimes, and I have to disconnect and reconnect it. It never fails mid-game though.
