i’m not gonna lie the elbows made me not wanna buy it but when i came in i wasn’t disappointed. yes some more elbow articulation would’ve been nice but this guy doesn’t even need it. he is very nice to hold and to pose even with the limited elbow.
I think this is such a good idea in concept. I would totally buy extremely accurate, "lept from the TV screen" non-transformable versions of Transformers. Especially if they're all to scale with one another. But sadly, the search continues, as this line looks like it falls short by quite a way. I'd want a lot more posability and some diecast parts. I think in a world where Bandai are bringing out some crazy stuff, this line doesn't cut the mustard. Granted, these are much cheaper, but I would happily pay double the asking price for something a little more premium. So yeah, give me an Optimus Prime Soul of Chogokin equivalent and I'll pay what you're asking.
I was considering this until I seen that his arm can barely bend smh. There's absolutely no reason a non-transforming Transformer shouldn't be FULLY articulated. IDC how screen accurate it is. Super7 gotta do better.
I don't see the Transformers fanbase liking this. Not because he doesn't transform but there's better Optimus Prime options even for a $50 Leader Class price or something else that's in the triple digits. The ankles and elbow hindrances are so redundant for a non transforming figure. Objectively, the Power Of The Primes Optimus Prime is better than this because of mobility. All the S7 articulation problems are not present in that POTP figure. Despite not being a cartoon based rendition, POTP Prime just seems like the better choice.
The disappointing thing is that both the elbows and the ankles would work fine with the existing joints if they just removed plastic. It’s strictly a design flaw and that’s unfortunate.
Can't help to feel that they missed on a good opportunity. R.E.D. is meant to look like MP44, which is fully toon accurate. Even though everyone knows this S7 figure is O.P., the "cartoon inspired" look is questionable. Add to it that the RED one has more articulation and that just leaves me wishing for something else. Thanks for the video man. Passing on them.
The energy net is from the season 1 episode "SOS Dinobots". Optimus and a few of the Autobots are captured by the Decepticons and tied up in the energy net waiting for their destruction.
Excellent review, I only have thundercats from super7 and they are better than the mattel ones... saying that though I don't think all of their figures should cost $55... Pinocchio is $55, correct?
If you get the MDLX Optimus, I'd love to see a comparison video between that, this Ultimates figure, and the RED line version to see how all the non-Transforming figures compare. MDLX is the priciest, but that's the one I'm leaning towards.
The MDLX is probably the best deal considering what you get with $80 compared with Super7's $55 price tag. Add the cost of shipping and the MDLX is an even better deal since it can be ordered from Amazon with free shipping. It's currently out of stock at Amazon but it gets re-listed periodically.
I dont mind modifying a figure some to get more flex or stretch or twist, etc. but this is quite a bit of work, should I go this route. More articulation, especially if he doesn't transform... Great vid!!
To be honest, I'm not digging this figure at all. He's just too compromised. He doesn't really make for a good action figure or a good statue. To each their own I guess.
I'm glad I canceled both Super7 Prime and Megatron, for the price they're charging this is ridiculously bad, Hasbro's RED Prime compared to this is a great action figure and don't forget RED Prime isn't a good action figure. Thanks for the review Toy Bro.
People who are not in animation don't understand that the original models were simplified so that animation could be done cheaper and quicker so making a 3D recreation of these designs are a questionable idea from the start. Granted, unofficial figures have achieved the cartoon design graciously. In the case of this figure, there is no over-engineering for transformation so there is no excuse for this figure to fail at articulation. For a couple dollars more you can get a Magic Square or NewAge figure that transforms or for thirty dollars less you can get a R.E.D. figure. I love Super7 but this was a step backward.
I'm cooled on Super7 after the last few releases. Between what's actually presented in the final product and the litany of excuses every Fwoosh interview, I don't see where the cost is going.
How well would he scale with Ultimates He-Man and Ultimates Lion-O? I wanna display them as the holy trinity of 80’s toys together. Thank you in advance.
They don't, really. I mean they COULD but Optimus is definitely taller but certainly not "tall enough" obviously. I thought I did some scaling with Ultimates in this vid.
Mm was waiting for your review of this , thanks great reviews as always man , can safely say this line isn't for me hope ppl can enjoy them going forward ,I will say the articulation has me a lil worried about the zords for power rangers though and wondering will they be as limited
I can't quite put my finger on it but this figure just feels so...lifeless. Take a look at the TMNT and Thundercats figures and compare how detailed they are in comparison. It is not even necessarily the detail, it just looks like this figure is so round and undefined, especially the heads. His main head just feels so off and I think it's a combo of the head being too wide, the faceplate being an odd shape, and the eyes being so flat. Overall his lack of defined edges and panel lining just makes him look like he isn't a robot. He doesn't look like he is made of metal or any other rigid substance. The Crotch is the epitome of this softness, literally looking like a piece of cloth put over the crotch and not a piece of his body or even armor. In striving for cartoon accuracy they went too far and made him look as bad as the cartoon model often did. (The original Sunbow cartoon looks terrible and I am sticking to that). Just look at MP 44 to see how to do cartoon accuracy right. His articulation is terrible and is outdone by pretty much every other recent Optimus. For Primus' sake, the Core Class Optimus is a fourth of the price and has better articulation. I'm actually for less paint on figures because it means there is less paint to chip and I don't think the paint is the problem, it's the round softness I discussed earlier. Finally, this figure suffers from being over-accessorized. MP-44 had the same issue where he has so many accessories that most people won't even use. The Blaster, Axe, Spike, and the alternate head are all good accessories but the rest have issues. The basketball is actually a good accessory because of its meme status and because it is a small accessory that adds personality to the figure. The surfboard would seem to do that too, but it is both too big and is not nearly as iconic as the other one-off accessories of the ax and basketball. And speaking of one-off accessories, the jetpack is a constant case of annoyance for me. So many Optimus' have this accessory, even the Lego set, but they don't actually include what we need to make it work as a display option. He needs to come with at least a display stand to get him in the air and hopefully some blast effects to simulate flight but those aren't included here. Lastly, the energy binder is a cool idea that adds play value, but really ask yourself: how many people will use it, and would you rather have the binders or some blast effects for the gun or a stand? Overall this is a bad figure that isnt worth the price. I am still holding out hope that Tarn will be good because getting him and Nickel for less than a hundred dollars is a dream come true for an IDW fan.
I understand the nostalgia appeal, but for the price I just don't understand this guy. There are transformers that actually transform and still have much better articulation and more G1 accuracy (Magic Square MS46 comes to mind) and the cost of the figure alone without the trailer is right on par with this. It is smaller and of course there are licensing costs with this- But you'd figure that without the transformation, the least they could do would be to work out a little more articulation, because this guy is a simply a barely manipulatable statue. That's a huge bummer. Been getting more and more disappointed with S7's efforts lately, especially because some of their figures are SO good (Looking at Ultimates Bebop). Ah well.
As an ex collector, having transforming figures is great, but none transforming ones can look a lot cleaner imo. And as someone who only displayed in bot mode I always preferred that.
What a piece of junk! Super7 is selling low-end figures at premium price, and people keep buying their trash! That Optimus Prime is a piece of trash! Go for the Hasbro WFC Earthrise OP, for the same amount of money, you receive the trailer and a figure you can pose!
For almost 300$ your getting this hunk of junk I mean he could have come with energon instead of a surf board I mean also 300$ and no truck mode it’s gonna be a no for me
One rule that I learned from a fellow collector. “If you buy a transformer and you can’t transform it, then is not a transformer at all”. Too bad because it look awesome, but is a no for me!
Paintjob non-existent, almost no articulation and a bunch of useless accessoires. Very disappointing figure given the fact that it is the most important character of the TF-franchise besides Megatron...
Absolutely useless. Brian Flyn doesn't comprehend the concept of articulation and therefore should only make statues and give these licenses to be companies. 😒

After watching this! I might cancel my pre-order!?
Already done that.
Found this guy for $25 tax included, I think I’ll be getting him after seeing this review, thanks!
The basketball is so obscure. Silly thing to waste plastic on.
Last week I got him that was my lucky day❤💙👍🚚 🤖.

Great comparisons...🤘🏼💯✔️
I got this the same day super7 store in San Francisco released it thank you cause I keep my man dolls in the package
Thank you for the prompt review. I'll be passing up this line.
oof, RED for the win I feel. but overall mainline and or MP preferred
I like it, i miss my childhood thats why i will buy this..
My question is.. when did Spaudling make a basketball the size of a Dairy Queen lol
The energy net is from the season 1 episode "SOS Dinobots". Optimus and a few of the Autobots are captured by the Decepticons and tied up in the energy net waiting for their destruction.
Tbh the super7 transformers just feel like higher quality robot enhanced design figures

Slight ankle pivot my butt. Pull it down further knuckle head! It gets a lot of ankle pivot on the RED
To be honest, I'm not digging this figure at all. He's just too compromised. He doesn't really make for a good action figure or a good statue. To each their own I guess.
This seems like a larger version of the Hasbro R.E.D. line with slight improvements in articulation and detail.
I'm glad I canceled both Super7 Prime and Megatron, for the price they're charging this is ridiculously bad, Hasbro's RED Prime compared to this is a great action figure and don't forget RED Prime isn't a good action figure.
Thanks for the review Toy Bro.
Just buy the yolopark g1 optimus, way better paint and articulation and the price feels WAY more fair

I don’t think I can ever be sold on a Transformer that can’t transform .
Love that ghost of Star-scream tease with Optimus. I look forward to that review.

@@ToyBro thank you! You did do scaling with other figures. I wanted to know if they scaled well with those two particular characters He-Man and Lion-O
The R.E.D has more articulation for a fraction of the cost. Super7 do better.
The elbows and ankles are unforgivable! Even more so at the price. Shame on you Super 7, do better!
will get it on 50% off

Truth
Yellow eyed Optimus ftw!
I like the aesthetic. But for $50 this is a joke.
Wow... this thing is trash.
Thanks for the review!
Just the red line but wrose
Amazing dude! Great video as aways. I can't wait to get one.

What a piece of garbage. How did Super7 think this was acceptable?
Your review is also way too forgiving,.
He's a shill. S7 gave him figures...

Super 7 puts out so much trash. I would love to see their sales numbers. Who is buying this crap
