He is so talented. Did you know that he made the whole video set himself with the help of his family and his mother as the cameraman. There is a clip at his RUclips channel where he builds the set himself and he also said that he do video editing himself.
All I could think about while listening to this is Overthinking Eurovision's take on Rosa Linn from last year. I think that this is one of the most underrated songs I've ever seen and any countries in the semi with it should feel threatened. And that's before going into if I even like the song or not.
Denmark have really upped their game this year, the only thing i would change is the dancers - lose them altogether, Reilly alone can fill the stage with their moves and personality
So Denmark is kind of tired of sending retro and in 2023, they are sending an entry that has a strong resemblance to Troye Sivan. And that's a good thing! Finally a contemporary pop song from DK!

They have said that they are going to change the staging to the better for the Eurovision finals. Fact is though that he is the first from the Danish Faroe Island to represent Denmark at the Eurovision. I have heard a lot that "He looks very young", though he is 25, but has not been too keen on revealing his age because he has around 11 million very young follower on TikTok mainly from South Korea and Japan. Btw he is not using auto tune which is not allowed in Eurovision, but an much older form of voice distortion also used by the Olsen Brothers who won the Eurovision in year 2000 and is kind of also the distortion of the Daleks in Doctor Who.
It's OK, but I think, I would have preferred freedom, though, especially if it got elevated on stage. It was also the televote winner in the superfinal, and I think, it should be televote only, just like Eesti Laul, especially when we've got a televote only semi, so it would probably raise the possibility of qualification, if we're sending the televote winner to Eurovision. Reily's song is OK, but nothing groundbreaking, maybe if we're doing a revamp and make it more energetic and if we're transforming those visuals from the videos on the LED screen, maybe it could actually qualify. It also depends on their competition in the semi, if other countries don't choose wisely, then this is quite possible. And I suspect that many of them won't be sending their songs with the highest potential to Eurovision. And we could have gotten it worse, as they also could have send Micky to Eurovision, who also made it to the superfinal (why? It was bad and almost everyone ranking DMGP songs put his song last). I'm not missing those I was gonna marry him girls either. They shouldn't have made it, imho. Maybe the girl who sang Human, but not those 2 girls. BTW I hope, you're also reacting to the Maltese and Italian entries.
If no jury was there to give votes there would be no need of a second voting.. And you don’t know what the initial cast of voting actually revealed apart from who was in top 3 in no particular order.. For all we know Reiley might have been the initial top scorer.. The final voting, sadly, was some of the worst television I’ve seen in quite a while.. Jury member was interviewed in between final performances and revealed that she had already made up her mind even before all finalist had a crack at their final performance. And last in the row of finalist performing only got 1 minute added time for voters to vote for him, while first finalist got some 15 minutes where voters could decide to vote for him..

There were 8 semifinalists and that field was then cut down to 3 in the final. If all voters(Winners and ‘loosers’) were to vote again in the final then of lets say 2 out 3 million voters voted for the 3 finalists. That leaves 1 million new voters deciding between the 3 finalists. Obviously the result will probably not be the same as the initial voting. The reason why a jury is used in national Grand prix is obviously to elevate the chances of succes in ESC. The reason why a jury also has a say at ESC final is slightly different. Sadly over the course of 2-3 decades neighbouring countries started to vote on each other expecting the favour to be returned. In an attempt to eliminate this growing habbit an expert jury was introduced to ESC.

Let me as a Dane explain something. You had been able to vote once a day in the app for like 5-6 days beforehand. This is before having seen the live performances. On the night the app server unfortunately crashed, so there was in reality no more app voting right after the show started. These votes along with the sms votes on the night decided the top 3 and only the sms voters had actually seen the live performances. I will never understand how someone that just cannot sing live would want to enter a competition like this. Some of the vocals were dreadful and some just sub standard. In the final it was juries, sms votes and a smattering of app votes (it did end up working a little at the very end, not that they said that on tv). And I suspect a lot of people had tapped out at that point because the show was soooo bad. Never has a Dansk Melodi Grand Prix deserved more criticism for how prepared they were. And the voting sequence: I have no idea what happened during. I am unclear on who got how many point from where and why (I still don't know). The whole show was embarassing. They were stalling for time to "make it more exciting" - but since nobody knew what the current standing was, it was just annoying. And the small talk was toe curlingly cringy. It was all in all amateur hour in prime time on national television. I suppose the end result could have been worse though. I kind of like the song and the performance seemed decent. I understand Nicklas the rock guy being top 3 for genre and performance... how Micky Skeel ended up there is a mystery to me though. Would have loved to see Søren up there, but he never even made it to the top 3. I'm afraid his outfit may have turned some viewers off and we generally don't pick ballads in Denmark. But for me, this was the best song and performace. Oh well. Reiley may well qualify but I don't expect big things in the final unless he gets his 300.000 TikTok folowers to vote for him. So a decent result... but the process of getting there was painful. I think many Danes are going to think twice before tuning in next year. Honestly, I think we should pick internally for the next few years and get it together before we attempt another selection show.

Everything in those is controlled by Reiley and his team. I’d wager if here were that good “unfiltered”, he would probably have sounded better on the night. But still, he’s not bad. It’s just not the song’s biggest selling point. I think you’re being a little naive here, but whatever. For all I know you don’t think influencers use photoshop either.
@@Leifdk1 I'm quite confident the technical team would keep a close eye on no one using enhancements like auto tune though so I highly doubt it's actually been used as it's against the rules even in DMGP. Vocoder however is allowed but it was put up a but too high which should likely be fixed at Liverpool.

This whole deal with not allowing auto tune but then having some other types of effects be ok (like on “Fly On The Wings Of Love”) is seriously confusing. Amanda Tenfjord was not allowed to use that vocal effect in the intro last year… but it’s possible that was layering vocals? I just don’t know. And I don’t know what Reiley used. I suppose we’ll see how it sounds on the night. Hopefully you’re right.
@@Leifdk1 you can use backup vocals and pre recorded vocals but you cant use anything that alters your own voice, which is something autotune does. The distortion/robotic things you hear is not something that alters his voice as you can actually hear his real vocals too basically having the distorted voice layered ontop of his own actual vocals.
Studio version is lovely but the live performance was not good at all. Vocally limited even with the help of the voice synthesizer (?). This is probably gonna be this year's Lum!x. But it's on the weaker semifinal so maybe it can squeak through.
Reiley is not choice of Danish people, Danish people wanted Nicklas Sonne to go to Eurovision. This song is the choice of several persons who were sitting in professional jury panel. Not the one people wanted.

Immediately after his performance DR started showing a recap of the 3 finalists perfomance, and even before this short recap reached Reileys performance a text message on the screen read: The voting has now been closed Despite these unfair and uneven odds it still was a close race with Micky Skeel picking up 15%, Nicklas Sonne 20%, and Reiley 15%. What the initial voting revealed is unclear, but for all we know Reiley might have won that voting as well.. At the end of the day it didn’t matter as the jury was far more convinced who to vote for than the televoter/viewers..
