Wow, what a great conversation! Regarding the gender differences in status games, your conversation reminded me of a prior piece of content I watched in which an entrepreneur explained that women tend to make better company executives than men. The claim was that biologically, estrogen induces nurturing while testosterone induces dominance, and women executives tend to lean towards nurturing the growth of a company more than men of whom a greater part would bounce from the company and start their own. Then again, since we have higher order thinking processes such as values, we can override our biological impulses by thinking about acting in accordance to our hierarchy of values. Obviously this isn't always the case, but it made an impression on me on how our own hormones can have an effect on the types of impulses we have to negotiate with depending on gender! Brilliant interview, I really enjoyed this one.
My favourite story was the style of parenting in different social classes. Whether the parents place themselves above a child, does have a big impact on the sense of status a child develops - it really helps to explain the idea behind liberal parenting.

I have never understood social class I come from a low- middle class environement but I go to museums, to the opera and I eat biodynamic food because I like them! I am also an enterpreneur and investor! I don't do what society consider working class things!! If you want, you can do things that are considered high class for example going to the opera is cheaper than a football ticket.
You want to understand social status and society? Give Sociology (as well as Social Sciences in general) the respect it deserves. People don’t know the subject and even a bit of the concepts will help you make sense of the world.

It is a raw intense feeling right? I dont feel the depressing part. Maybe sadness from my unfulfiled ambitions. Like I am meant for more and have not played the status game well enough. Meaning - I have not been as usefull to other people as I expect from myself.
