THIS is the list I was waiting for, and I am guessing that a lot of people that are looking to getting into RV'ing will also appreciate it. A few observations from a long time viewer and recent first time purchaser: 1. The Jay Flights 264BH is one of the nicest looking stick and tin model interior I have seen in a long time. I would have sworn you were showing a much more expensive trailer. 2. The Wildwood 178BHSK also took me by surprise with it's light colored interior and surprising interior space. 3. The Geo Pro 19BH is deceptively bigger on the inside than one would think. I would have never guessed this 20 ft. unit had bunk beds. Couple that with the Magic Man act and the Deep Purple "Smoke on the Water" riff, this is a great product showcase video. 4. The Freedom Express 257BHS was my second choice for a travel trailer; and it was a VERY close second choice. With its true queen bed, taller ceilings, wide stance axles and carpetless slid, it's a winner. However, we wanted something a little shorter and with a Murphy bed. . The Rockwood 2509S is also a personal favorite of mine. In fact, we purchased it's identical twin, the Flagstaff Micro Lite 25BRDS. It's the perfect size, as it will likely fit easily in all of the National Parks but it's big enough to not feel cramped when you're stuck inside on a rainy day; especially with the huge u-shaped dinette and Murphy bed/sofa. With it's beautiful vacuum bonded exterior, welded aluminum construction, Azdel, walkable roof, Dexter torsion axles and Goodyear Endurance tires, it's got the goods. Plus, ours came with the 15K A/C upgrade, power stabilizer jacks, 190 watt solar panel with inverter, the optional white exterior, light colored interior and a 12 volt DC refrigerator. Optioned out, this trailer is hard to beat.; and for us, could not be beat! WHat a great video. I am guessing that this will get a LOT of views.
That is our camper in the video! 257BHS represent! Was a few days away from buying a 2509s and so glad the 257BHS landed at Haylett! A dedicated bedroom makes ALL the difference with kids.
I agree with all your picks. I might have added in the Winnie Minnie 2100BH in place of the Wildwood. All the benefits with double azdel, enclosed under belly, bigger bunks (than the GP) with a lot of other features.
We recently purchased a Jayco X213 and it checks all the boxes for me - king bed, conversation/TV area with dinette & couch and residential twin bunks. We love it!
You nailed it as far as order goes. Have to admit at 7 1/2 foot wide. The Wildwood is quite appealing. The really older roads, which I am sometimes on. The lanes are just not as wide.
Our 178bhsk has been a good starter trailer for us. I really like the double size bunks, the u shaped dinette and the bathroom is accessible during travel. We originally towed with a suv, but now have a truck and can tow the little trailer anywhere
Nailed it with this list. That 2509s is the perfect floor plan for a lot of people. All the seating of a super slide when you need it without the weight and length.
We got a Salem FSX 178 this winter. Identical trailer to the mentioned Wildwood FSX, just different exterior color. (Both Forest River trailers. I like the blue/gray siding of the Salem better). I'm blown away with how much trailer you get for 23 feet!
We have a Grey Wolf 19SM that works perfect for our family of four. 2 RV queens, a top single bunk, couch & dinette all under 26ft. Any reason you haven't reviewed that RV specifically yet?
Your top pick is what we ordered back on 3/11/21 and as of 9/23/21 it is sitting in our driveway. Since then, we have been busy equipping it with all the usual suspects and getting ready to take it on it's maiden voyage 15 minutes away! Rockwood rocks and so do you Josh for answering fresh comments in a 5 month old video. Rockwood doing Rockwood things and Josh doing Josh things!
How about the Jayflight SLX 242bhs ? Also why do model #'s change depending what coast you live on . For example in the east this trailer is labeled as the 242bhs, on the west it's 242bhsw .
There are often SLIGHTLY variances between east/west production so a little designator is offered for quick reference. Would you believe I have a video on this topic? LOL (Because of course I do!) Here you go: ruclips.net/video/5fiKlUzvalo/видео.html
Hope you are having a nice day. With the average cost of travel trailers continuing to rise and the push for more affordable and smaller RVs it may make sense to do a "Top 5 Bunkhouse Travel Trailers under 20 feet.".
Looking at a heartland mallard 251BH right now....seems too good to be true. King bed, power jacks, heated enclosed underbelly, walk in pantry, outdoor kitchen with a grill not a useless 2 burner stove, ultra modern chef kitchen, with backlit glass cabintery, fireplace, glow in the dark exterior graphics....goes on and on. And right now it's $10-20k LESS than others like the freedom express 257!
Two very cool but very different trailer brands. There’s going to be a big price vector between them largely reflecting the different shell construction
Thank you Josh for that very informative and nicely put list of bunk houses. My wife especially loved and I mean loved that 257 Freedom Exspres. Her exact comment was as follows, "That's under thirty feet or at thirty feet. And your truck can pull that no problem. Plus if the kids don't come along that top bunk is for storage and the bottom bunk would be for the dogs." I just replied yeas deer lol 😆
I think you nailed it man. But I'm surprised the 264bh wasn't first. Tried and true classic!! You know what I've been wondering Josh is why don't they take that couch and turn it into a mini sectional instead of the dead space next to the sink!
Thanks! Stumbled on this looking for travel trailers under 30 feet. Husband is 6'10". Any trailers you'd recommend? 5th wheels are out since we will be towing with a tundra. Thanks again!
We bought a Jayco 224bhw for our 1st RV because of Josh. Only 1 thing could have been better was buying it from him. We drove to Casper, Wy from Boise, Id to buy it as there were none locally. Spent 2 nights on the way home. 1 in the Grand Tetons. Holy mackerel We love it. The 264 was just too close to our 6500GVW

Do you carry the Keystone Passport SL. I'm a huge fan of the storage, Murphy Bed full queen, no slide, double over double bunk with a rear cargo door. Did I mention storage?
We do not currently but have in the past. It's an absolutely fantastic brand for which I have all the respect in the world. Great people work there who do equally great work
Love the videos, I watch all day every day while healing up from surgery. We ordered a 264bh In April. Do you know when jayco will be running production on these? When we ordered in April we were told June delivery date, does it sound like that could still happen?
Apologies - dealers are not provided with production run information like that. I do not know unfortunately That's one of the most popular RVs on the planet so it's likely not a case of when they're running them as they're OFTEN in production -- just a matter how who else got in line as well
@@JoshtheRVNerd Thank you for the response! When we inevitably trade this in and upgrade to a bigger model we will be going straight to Haylett RV. I reached out to our dealer yesterday and so far you have responded faster via RUclips than they have text or email. LOL 🙃
Wonder if the 264bh jay flight had a small slide how much better it would be... have anything like that? Love the layout, weight, size.. just want a little more room tween dinette and kitchen
Sorta like this I think: bit.ly/3poOukU I also have a version of that camper I linked from a Shasta coming in a week or two Jayco USED to make what you're talking about. It was called a 28BHS. Basically a 264BH with a small jack knife sofa slide
The Jayco, Wildwood and Rockwood have everything you need in a bunkhouse trailer that can sleep 6-8 people including more than one place for all of those people to sit! Sorry, but since you asked, I personally would not put a trailer that only had a dinette and/or an East West bed on any 5 best list when there are just so many other trailers like your Jayco JayFeather 199 MBS and the Wildwood Heritage Glen Hyper-Lyte 20 BHHL that offer a far more versatile and complete package?
Lists like this are very subjective. The way I see an RV and the way the next guy sees it could be completely different and I respect someone else's "ideal top 5"
Thanks for all your work in getting these videos together its great to hear your opinion on these models!! I would throw in along side the Wildwood 178BHSK an honorable mention of the 179DBK for those not looking for the slide. Also the Wildwood X-lite 19DBXL those looking for the tandem axle with no slides.... I think I might be biased towards Wildwoods and no slide campers 😅
We got ourselves one also. Looking forward to the first camping trip. I installed the Lippert friction hinge which I would highly recommend. Should come standard. I also wish it came with a Blackstone griddle instead of the camp stove. Should also come standard with a medicine cabinet. I also installed another magnet on the long kitchen door. I was worried about warping over time.
@@havnfunb4 I check out the hinges I appreciate the tip, we have a blackstone at home and already have camp grill, the blackstone would take up less space though. 😁
my number 1 at the moment is the Jayco 224bh. i'm torn over buying a 2021 left over or waiting for the 2022. its the end of the season. i would be buying it ,to sit in my drive way.
There's a world of RVs out there and only a small list. The next person's list could be totally different. Just because something isn't on this list doesn't mean I don't like it.
What do you think about the 19SM by Grey Wolf. We’re looking at getting our first RV to visit around the US. I’m not a fan of the 19SM but my partner likes it a lot
I do not. I had to put this handy Top 5 series on hold unfortunately as other things just started dominating my schedule The first name that popped into my head was "Cougar" as they're one of the few travel trailers *actually* hot/cold tested and proven on a per-floor-plan basis The 26RBS will slide in just under 30ft I believe Plus they have three smaller models including the 25RDS, 22RBS, and 22MLS Here's some links to the ones I've been able to record: → 22MLS: bit.ly/2Z3DxKz → 22RBS: bit.ly/2XeUilz → 26RBS: bit.ly/3nMhDGd
You have any videos for top 5 hybrids? Lol. My husband and I wanna upgrade from our popup but love our tent feel. If you do have a top 5 hybrid or something similar I'd live to watch it but can seem to find one. I love watching your videos and love your energy. Thanks for all your fun videos Josh the rv nerd!!! Happy Camping!
I don't and I'm not even sure there's 5 brands building hybrids anymore Murphy Beds have really diminished that Market Segment Rockwood is by far the volume leader in that market and they barely make 5 models entirely now
@@JoshtheRVNerd darn. But thanks for responding so fast! If we ever get out your way we are gonna stop by. My husband and I watch your videos all the time lately. Trying to learn as much as possible before we buy our next camper. Have a wonderful rest of your day.
Hey Josh! Could you possibly do videos on top five mid bunk fifth wheels, mid bunk travel trailers and toy haulers? Great video by the way. Sent it over to a friend of mine who is looking for something like this.
I'm not quite sure. Since joining ranks with Bish's I've has the good fortune to be exposed to a WORLD of new options and frankly... I'm just not even sure what I would place in "top 5" lists like this anymore. There's just SO many I get to see now I would say the 199MBS wouldn't be in my PERSONAL top 5 but that's more of a reflection of how I camp vs. what that RV offers
I have all the respect in the world for those. If they weren't built clear across the country, then we'd likely make an effort to feature them among our lineup
Agree with top 3. I wish the cargo door was a common feature. If Lance trailers weren't so expensive, the 2185 would be an option. I know their quality built but paying $20K-$30K more for something similar that Rockwood or a Freedom Express does is difficult to conceive. Is there any manufacturer with a similar features than the Lance 2185? Split bath, cargo door, triple bunk beds, roof rack and the convertible sofa/queen bed?
Hey josh, I would like to see some camper that would be good for big guys. I’m 6’5 and all campers seem small. I’m sure you can find some to show. Also if there are any with bunks that would be great. Thanks love your videos.
I'll see what I can do For starters I might recommend something in the Eagle-family with a 7ft ceiling in HTs and 7'3" Ceiling in "Big Birds" Cougar's travel trailers handle vaulted ceilings quite well and may work OH! And Rockwood's Signature Series trailers!! They're 6'9" on the walls PLUS A vaulted ceiling and feel huge inside! Here's a few: * ruclips.net/video/tLTsCGMSVTU/видео.html * ruclips.net/video/EXyz6HRUeEY/видео.html * ruclips.net/video/_aMTwm0Wk-A/видео.html
All great choices but it's hard to beat the Mini Lite line, although I do really like having an exterior door to access the under bunk storage like on the GeoPro 19BH. BTW, your graphics on the Wolf Pup are correct, but in the audio you say that the total weight is 6575 lbs instead of 3575 lbs.
Hi Josh, I always enjoy the videos and appreciate for your detailed explanations. One quick question, did you guy stop dealing Winnebago microminnie? I thought 2306BHS would be one in your list. But it was not and I do not see you’re working videos for Winnebago recently.
We have at this time. I still have all the respect in the world for them. There's so many good campers NOT on this list it's almost painful It could've been a top 30 and STILL not been "the best of the best"
Great question, Gavin. Thanks for asking! Pricing changes all the time unfortunately so I'm unable to guarantee _accurate_ pricing in a video. Instead we leave you links to our website where we can always have _current_ pricing available for you. We have just joined a new organization and our website is currently in a state of flux. So a team member would be able to get you figures on anything you'd like
Define under 30'? We sold our Rockwood Roo privately and purchased at 2021 Alpha Wolf 26DBH-L and it's 31' and change, but they're including the rear rack and spare. I took that off and put the spare under the lower bunk through the storage door and knocked out the panel. I plan to box out the water heater next and secure the wheel/tire. I'm not sure why they didn't create more storage space, but I guess we don't need it for weekend warriors. It has less hitch weight than the Rockwood (with similar total dry weight) that was on your/our short list, but this has a better layout with closed off bedroom and slide bigger to have a loveseat too. There are some others in the 24-26' range that are 28-30' total that others may like too and still be half ton towable. I wish Grand Design made a 2600BH, 28 is too big. Cougar too. And Passport in the GT series with nice front cap. Don't these companies know we're not all driving F250/2500 trucks and have mortgages and other bills with to pay with having kids but we have the funds to buy nice things? Make more BHs that an Expedition/Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban or F150/1500 can tow.
Quick math in my head right now.. that's about 23-24k USD. Try a few of these (in no particular order) → Wolf Pup 17JG bit.ly/2oIXaFW → Jayco 184BS: bit.ly/3bEZOja → Wildwood 178BHSK: bit.ly/3deUxAk → Jayco 224BH: bit.ly/2OQcriT → Jayco 264BH bit.ly/2PNvYRy

my number 1 at the moment is the Jayco 224bh. i'm torn over buying a 2021 left over or waiting for the 2022. its the end of the season. i would be buying it ,to sit in my drive way.
I'd be surprised if there were really any leftover '21s out there. We've been out of 21's for a time now
@@JoshtheRVNerd i sure missed the boat. now i'm hunting for something. love the freedom express. 238 bh and the rockwood 2509s
@@dougm1985 Surveyor has something along those lines as well you can see here: bit.ly/3BQzcKk
I like the list and personally I'd add my coachman catalina 18bhs!
How about top 5 single axle trailers?
Thanks again Josh!! 🥰
My pleasure!!
Appreciate your videos. What about the Grand Design AIM 18 BH?
I have footage of that here m.ruclips.net/video/XbCzKxuj2eM/видео.html
But it’s a retired model no longer in production
Any reason you left out the Apex Nano lines? You seem to be very hyped on that brand but didn't include here...
I haven’t seen it for a while. Is that the rear bed slide? I have never much cared for those myself
Sending this to my daughter who's been looking.
TY
Thank you! Have you shown any videos on that? Which TT are all weather 30ft and under?
I do not. I had to put this handy Top 5 series on hold unfortunately as other things just started dominating my schedule
The first name that popped into my head was "Cougar" as they're one of the few travel trailers *actually* hot/cold tested and proven on a per-floor-plan basis
The 26RBS will slide in just under 30ft I believe
Plus they have three smaller models including the 25RDS, 22RBS, and 22MLS
Here's some links to the ones I've been able to record:
→ 22MLS: bit.ly/2Z3DxKz
→ 22RBS: bit.ly/2XeUilz
→ 26RBS: bit.ly/3nMhDGd
You have any videos for top 5 hybrids? Lol. My husband and I wanna upgrade from our popup but love our tent feel. If you do have a top 5 hybrid or something similar I'd live to watch it but can seem to find one. I love watching your videos and love your energy. Thanks for all your fun videos Josh the rv nerd!!! Happy Camping!
I don't and I'm not even sure there's 5 brands building hybrids anymore
Murphy Beds have really diminished that Market Segment
Rockwood is by far the volume leader in that market and they barely make 5 models entirely now
@@JoshtheRVNerd darn. But thanks for responding so fast! If we ever get out your way we are gonna stop by. My husband and I watch your videos all the time lately. Trying to learn as much as possible before we buy our next camper. Have a wonderful rest of your day.
@@drivepoweredbyhope8573 TY Hope! Stay safe :)
Hey Josh! Could you possibly do videos on top five mid bunk fifth wheels, mid bunk travel trailers and toy haulers? Great video by the way. Sent it over to a friend of mine who is looking for something like this.
Cool idea! Will see what i can do (hopefully!)
What about the outback ultralite 210URS?
Super cool model. I actually *really* like Outbacks personally and hope i can start getting a little coverage for them in the future
Are any of these towable comfortably with a tacoma?
A few of them could be -- especially the single axles
Hi Josh, what do you think about the Shadow Cruiser 280QBS....
I don’t really have an opinion of it as I’ve never had a chance to see it in person. I’d rather tell you I don’t know rather than make something up I
nice picks
Looking for 1/2 ton towable bunk with extended season camping. Not a Murphy bed
Great info! Is the Jayco 264bh all season?
Definitely not. Nothing in an entry segment like that will be
Was the 199mbs a thing back when you made this? How would you rank it with these guys?
I'm not quite sure. Since joining ranks with Bish's I've has the good fortune to be exposed to a WORLD of new options and frankly... I'm just not even sure what I would place in "top 5" lists like this anymore. There's just SO many I get to see now
I would say the 199MBS wouldn't be in my PERSONAL top 5 but that's more of a reflection of how I camp vs. what that RV offers
@@JoshtheRVNerd will you show us just how you camp? Give us an idea of your personal style
why did they get rid of the 257 BHS model.......it's my favorite
Have you ever done a best 5 f150 trailers ( truck payload 1800lbs)
Not exactly
@@JoshtheRVNerd would you consider this !! Sure it would provide value to us F150 owners ( safe and sway )
I am looking for a very small 5th wheel with Dbl bunks and U shaped dinette
Define very small
And what’s your towing vehicle?
How about Lance travel Trailers? How would they fall in to your top five? I know you cant do every model out there... But if you could please. Thanks.
I have all the respect in the world for those. If they weren't built clear across the country, then we'd likely make an effort to feature them among our lineup
Why did'nt you include the Forest River IBEX 19 MBH
Im looking for 2 bunk beds at the back and a main bed at the fron bunk house under 30 feet. Do you know of any?
Here's one ruclips.net/video/7wsxDFjG3cs/видео.html
Here's another ruclips.net/video/mEq5JeNJlcc/видео.html
Agree with top 3. I wish the cargo door was a common feature.
If Lance trailers weren't so expensive, the 2185 would be an option. I know their quality built but paying $20K-$30K more for something similar that Rockwood or a Freedom Express does is difficult to conceive.
Is there any manufacturer with a similar features than the Lance 2185? Split bath, cargo door, triple bunk beds, roof rack and the convertible sofa/queen bed?
Lance is pretty good at making unicorns. Fantastic brand though. If they weren’t so far away I would love to feature them
Hey josh, I would like to see some camper that would be good for big guys. I’m 6’5 and all campers seem small. I’m sure you can find some to show. Also if there are any with bunks that would be great. Thanks love your videos.
I'll see what I can do
For starters I might recommend something in the Eagle-family with a 7ft ceiling in HTs and 7'3" Ceiling in "Big Birds"
Cougar's travel trailers handle vaulted ceilings quite well and may work
OH! And Rockwood's Signature Series trailers!! They're 6'9" on the walls PLUS A vaulted ceiling and feel huge inside!
Here's a few:

Coachmen Apex Nano 208BHS should of made this list. It is an amazing trailer
I can certainly see that. I have put a GEN one hopefully coming soon. At least we have one here at the store I’m hoping to get recorded
Pretty happy with our Grand Design 21BHE...
That's great! Solid little camper! Hope you have a great season!
Have you looked at a Jeyco 16rk yet
I've been in them, yes
I dont have footage of one at this time
Neat little camper :)
Yeah I botched that weight lol
I like this series 👍🏽
Ty. Good to know. Will see what else I can work up
Hi Josh, I always enjoy the videos and appreciate for your detailed explanations. One quick question, did you guy stop dealing Winnebago microminnie? I thought 2306BHS would be one in your list. But it was not and I do not see you’re working videos for Winnebago recently.
We have at this time. I still have all the respect in the world for them. There's so many good campers NOT on this list it's almost painful
It could've been a top 30 and STILL not been "the best of the best"
You do a really good job but would like it more if you would give us all prices
Why not prices? Great video!
So a team member would be able to get you figures on anything you'd like
Also - ty for the kind words this morning :)
The 178 FSX has the sink in the bathroom where the GeoPro does not... the FSX also gives you the Murphy Bed.
Pound for pound wildwood has become a truly impressive standout offering
Do you ship to Ga.?
You bet
I read the sign
Now you did it...
I need one
Well.. we have them! lol
"do not read this sign" 😂😂😂
Good thing you didn't. Because.. HOOO boy!!
Tip to Tail
Hey Josh how about top 5 bunks under $30k canadian?
Quick math in my head right now.. that's about 23-24k USD. Try a few of these (in no particular order)

When you said ten pounds of sugar in a five pound sack, reminded me what Dolly Parton said. Her Daddy said that as tight as her clothes were: ten pounds of flour in a five pound sack. As usual another great video, another two thumbs up, have a blessed day & God Bless
haha
Ol' Aunt Dolly :)
Damn this list could have 10
It could have 30 lol
This is a STRONG segment
Surveyor Legend 19BHLE beats out the rockwood in the sub 4,000 category
Surprised to not see a Grand Design in this list.
Like a video of trailers that are towable by a Chevy Colorado or ford ranger
I think you said the wolf pup weighs 6500 pounds LOL. What does that come with like a gold bar
It’s actually 3500 - he misspoke.
