    I have been using CV for approx 8 years. I am to a point where I am looking for a "better" software. The main issue I have with CV is speed. It is slow to optimize, slow to drop each cabinet in, slow going from room to room, and slow to render. They do upgrades with new versions and you expect it to be faster but users have complained that software version 4 years ago was much faster. So my question is have you ever done 16-25 rooms in a job in both Mozaik and Vision and is there noticeable/significant difference in speed. Need to go by the room quantity as you can't really tell with a one to five room job.

      I feel your pain Chad. I have not really put Mozaik to the same stress tests as I have Cabinet Vision. I can certainly agree though, Cabinet Vision can be frustrating at times on larger jobs. Once the job gets so big, it feels like you even have to be careful where and how you click the mouse or it will crash.

    Good comments , But I would like to see a screen by screen comparison showing the actual capabilities of both.
    That would be truly helpful as I am a small shop using Mozaik and wondering what features I may benefit from that CV could do that Mozaik can't.

      I’m going to work on a full feature comparison this weekend. I’m going to split it into two parts. A front end comparison that compares the basic job functions like drawing walls, adding cabinets, etc… and then follow it up with a back end comparison and get a little more in the weeds on the advanced features in part two. I’ll post a comment to the videos when I post them.
      Thanks again for the idea🙋🏼‍♂️😀

    Mozaik is such a great software for custom cabinets. The only down side is jobs hiring for Kitchen design are always looking for experience with 20/20. I see many jobs for CV but not Mosaik.

    Watched all of your videos on these two cabinet software programs...great stuff! Question: If you design cabinets, send them to your CNC, make cabinets, etc. but later on decide that you no longer need Mozaik because you went from making cabinets to making mouse traps, will you still have access to all cabinet files that you previously used in case you need to do a one-off cabinet? Thank you.

    • @myronwittmer
      @myronwittmer  2 года назад

      Hi Larry, as long as you have a subscription for Mozaik, you will still be able to access and design cabinets. Good luck with your mouse traps🤣😎

    • @steinbierz
      @steinbierz 2 года назад

      @@myronwittmer Thanks, Myron. This would imply then that if you cancel your subscription, any cabinet files you had created now are not useful in any form. BTW...the perfect mouse trap has not been invented or made...YET! 🤣

    really interesting video, Question: whats the best way to learn these programs or how can I find shops that can help learn these programs?

    • @myronwittmer
      @myronwittmer  2 года назад +1

      That’s an awesome question! It can be difficult to find the right fit but most shops I know could always use more people, they just don’t know how to find people.
      So if I were you, I would research a few shops and go visit them in person and ask for a job. It’s perfectly acceptable to explain that you don’t have experience but you are WILLING and EAGER to learn. You might have to start at a lower pay and then after you have some experience and you’ve proven yourself, you can negotiate your pay or switch to another shop.
      I had the fortune of working at a shop who gave me the time and opportunity to learn. Then a few years later, I had the opportunity to start training other shops how to use their software. So one thing can lead to another once you get started in the industry.

      @@myronwittmer That sound awesome! I been trying to look deeper into these programs I have actually paid for the first 3 months of mozaik software to learn and create my own kitchen, I feel that I learned a lot since it was my first time making a kitchen and it came out quite well.
      Now that I am a little familiar with the software I wanted to go into the production side of it and learn more on how to grow in this business since I am planing on opening my own shop I have already created my own CNC a 4x8 and hopefully I get there one day

    Mozaik doubled their prices recently for the basic version. It was a useful tool to show customers concepts without it being to expensive. If I got the job my cabinetmaker would then do his own shop drawings based off what I had sold the customer. Wish they hadnt jumped so high in price.

      They also got bought out and their service went down the hill but the price got jacked up. Been using mozaik since 2016 and now looking into cabinet vision. Monthly cost for same package mozaik vs cabinet vision, cabinet vision if $55 more a month. Thinking what I should do… cabinet vision rendering look amazing compared to mozaik, the bar code capability as-well. A whole much more options.

    How about fusion 360 and autocad are they good for kitchen design?

    • @myronwittmer
      @myronwittmer  2 года назад +1

      Some people might use it for kitchen design. I personally feel like autocad works well for millwork and custom work. I think software such as Cabinet Vision, Mozaik, KCD, etc works better for normal kitchen design.

    What do you think of ecabinets software?

    • @myronwittmer
      @myronwittmer  2 года назад +1

      I plan on doing reviews and comparisons on several of the most popular design software. Hopefully, I can get started on those soon.
      Here's a quick summary for now.
      It has a few things going for it. The big one is that its FREE:) It is very capable from a reporting and machining standpoint. However, I think their interface is pretty clunky and hard to understand, so you have to be pretty patient with it to get familiar with it and I think other software offer more efficient ways of doing things.
      Just like with any software, its only as good as the person driving it. So if you get really comfortable with it, it can definitely do the job for you.

    is 2020 Design software in the same ballpark as these or not even close!? i make custom cabinetry only

    • @myronwittmer
      @myronwittmer  2 года назад

      Good question. 2020 is a design software. A huge percentage of designers use 2020. Technically you could use 2020 Design for your shop to show drawings but it would be very seriously lacking reports and customization.
      They do also have a manufacturing version called 2020 Insights I believe, but from what I heard it is best for semi custom and stock manufacturers. I have not used 2020 Insights myself though.

    I just switched from CV to Mozaik for the exact reasons you spelled out and several other reasons. I hated CV. It was the least user friendly software I have ever used. I started out with Cabinet Pro and a friend convinced me I would love CV so without researching it much I switched. CV has the worst HELP system I have ever seen. You could not search specifically for anything. I tried over and over to search for simple things like "print to scale" and it would give you a list of things that had nothing to do with printing a plan to scale. I paid $400 for a downloadable training program but it was just videos. If a week later you wanted get an answer to a question that was covered in one of the videos you couldnt't. You had to just guess which lesson it was in and watch an hour of video and hope you guessed correctly because if you didnt you had just wasted an hour and now you had to guess again and watch another hour of video. It was also full of bugs . I once downloaded a dfx file from Kohler and then the customer changed sinks so I deleted it but it did not actually delete it from the cabinet . It disappeared visually from the drawing but remained in the cabinet and for some reason it made the program crash every 5 minutes. and I could no longer access the reports section. The rendering was so slow and tedious I quit even using it and just did line drawings.

    • @myronwittmer
      @myronwittmer  2 года назад

      Sounds like a rough experience for sure. I know a lot of guys who have had similar experiences or else they just never put it into use because of some of the things you mentioned. It’s a shame that guys get sold on a promise and then never see the results.
      However, I have also seen the flip side. Some people are able to make it work for them and Cabinet Vision can be a very powerful solution in the right environment. It just takes the right environment and right setting.
