The CVT hate is completely unfounded. I get that not all brands have good CVTs but I see so many people especially with older Subarus piss and moan that they will never get a new Subaru because the CVT is horrible. People truly don’t have a clue what they are talking about. I’ve had my 2015 Outback 3.6r since 2016 and it’s at almost 100K miles. I’ve had 0 issues with the CVT and besides maintenance items I’ve only had to replace a cam sensor. With the high torque CVT that came with my car it feels similar to a conventional auto when pushed hard it pretends to shift through 6 gears. When driven like a normal person it keeps the RPM’s low so it doesn’t drone or get annoying. Yes it’s true that other CVTs like the ones in Nissan like to self destruct and sit at high RPMs during any acceleration but Subaru has figured out how to correct those issues.

I've been testing cars since about ~2006 and the early CVTs that hit the road back then were often very bad, but each generation brought improvements and many automakers have perfected the tech, or close to it. My daily driver is a Subaru Outback (2024) with CVT of course (non turbo) and for what that machine is meant to do, it's just fine. My personal favorite CVT at the moment is the Honda Accord Touring Hybrid, it's top notch. They're all much better than they used to be!

My 19 altima has a cvt and I'm at 215k Mike's no issues. I like that when it shifts it's actually pretty snappy.and that's why I like it compared to a subaru cvt which feels like it's sliding between "gears" instead of a firmer shift.
