Damn i wish this version was on the album so bad!! The jazz break trade solo section is farrr better in this demo than the album version. And its pretty much the only thing they changed from their original songs that were put on the album. Amazing stuff though and bringing back memories :)
Damn, I didn't know Baretto could play the Sax. This is some of the most groundbreaking music I've come across in a while. Words can't describe the astounding ability of this band.
@EddyMorino My problem is with the vocal melodies and the fact that for most they were obviously an after thought, letter experiment, the walk, jetpcks was yes and icarus lives were all written with vocals in mind and they kick ass . . the rest were originally written as instrumental pieces, asking someone to add a standard vocal melody (verse, chorus etc)to one of those songs is like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, the vocals should have been added just like another instrument
@suspectzike Have you ever listened to Into The Moat or Between The Buried And Me or The Human Timebomb or The Number Twelve Looks Like You or the countless other bands that have been putting jazz into metal for the better part of 15 years now?
@Niallphillips Chris is great and all, but since Periphery, I've also seen him do vocals for Haunted Shores, Friend For A Foe, and now this. To my knowledge, he hasn't stayed with either of the other two, and I was never given any indication whether for the other songs he was just in a "guest musician". And you said there is no substitute for a Bulb composition. So by that logic, why would Periphery be going down?
holy shit bro you have no idea how happy i am after hearing this song, this is music ...dont get me wrong but before i started buffering it i thought what can it possibly offer me,for it has ex periphery singer(i hate periphery)but i was so wrong,if you wanna add more awesomeness then plz add some more sax and get rid of the thumping sound sound it sounds so random :)
@Niallphillips Travis does the studio work to pay bills. Have you ever seen pink floyd live? no. Would you consider their work useless? It' is possible to listen to a persons work and appreciate it without ever seeing it live.SEA isn't finished. as far as periphery, the vocals were most likely processed and pitch corrected LIKE EVERY PROFESSIONAL BAND. so if its out of tune it was done or left as is knowingly.periphery will continue to grow and be around for a looooooooooong time. Just YOU watch
@defbass1990 Listen to Exivious, and see how they do it on a whole different scale then these bands do. No metal parts and jazz parts, it's metal x jazz + epic = Exivious.
hahahha i was listening to periphery just before this...then i heard some epic screaming and i was like "now why cant spencer scream like that every time" and then i realized he cant cause hes not as awesome as baretto
People are saying that they like the jazz break in this version better, but I disagree. I understand why they feel that way because the phrasing is definitely more accessible, but the solos compliment their sound more in the updated version. It's more spacious, more mysterious, there's more ambiguity going on, and the piano player uses the lick in the updated version! You just can't beat that haha. I also don't like how they produced the sax solo in this verion, too compressed.
Chris Barretto - Vocals / Sax / Ear Sex Nick Llerandi - Guitar / Ear Sex Billy Anderson - Guitar / Ear Sex Jon Llerandi - Bass / Ear Sex Jerad Lippi- Drums / Ear Sex Kevin Theodore - Keys / Ear Sex
@information94 They're good, but they didn't create a new genre, they just put two genres next to each other. Again, bands like BTBAM and #12 and Into The Moat have been doing shit like this for over a decade now.
@EddyMorino But they didn't, they just let the vocals run wild over the amazing instrumentals, ruining the over all sound. My guess would be that they felt that the band would be easier to sell this way or simply so that spencer wouldn't spend half the set just watching the band. Misha compromised his own compositions, if that trend continues I don't see them lasting a lot longer. People in metal turn on bands very quickly. They should watch their asses. The next album will make or break them
@Niallphillips Spencer sounds awful on most of the album because either Chris or Casey wrote the lyrics for the song, and both of them have differentiating ranges and comfort zones compared to Spencer. I'm sure he'll write vocal melodies and lyrics that will suit his voice AND compliment the music as well in their next full length album. If you haven't heard Captain On, take some time to listen to it. That there's a good impression on what they have in store for the future.
@heresjonnylawl SEA are finished and studio work is useless to his fans who will never get to see him play live. The comment about composition is opinion but do you disagree with that . . . honestly?? my comment about periphery's vocals is not opinion, you're either in key or you're not, period. Spencer Sotello ruined half that album, if Misha Mansoor continues to just add vocals to already finished pieces of music for the sake of making money it he will live to regret it, just you watch
Damn i wish this version was on the album so bad!! The jazz break trade solo section is farrr better in this demo than the album version. And its pretty much the only thing they changed from their original songs that were put on the album. Amazing stuff though and bringing back memories :)
i dont get it neither, why this didn'tt make it to album, that bridge with piece of Stimpy Lockjaw upgraded by genuine Barretto's sax part is
(i didnt find the right suitable word in last half an hour)
Am i the only one who prefer this demo version better than the other one on the album ?!
Love the sax in this song. Chris is a genius.
Damn, I didn't know Baretto could play the Sax. This is some of the most groundbreaking music I've come across in a while. Words can't describe the astounding ability of this band.
@DCPofficialfilm he is still in FFAF and is doing double band duty.
I can't wait for their album to drop, I can definitely resonate with their songs.
WTF! It sounds even better now that it's on RUclips! Come out to Cali & Play!
such a beautiful breakdown in the middle
@EddyMorino My problem is with the vocal melodies and the fact that for most they were obviously an after thought, letter experiment, the walk, jetpcks was yes and icarus lives were all written with vocals in mind and they kick ass . . the rest were originally written as instrumental pieces, asking someone to add a standard vocal melody (verse, chorus etc)to one of those songs is like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, the vocals should have been added just like another instrument
this is the best jazz i've heard in a long time
perfect band for chris barretto.
yayayayayyayay!!!! this is amazing! Finally someone clever enough to make a new genre sorta, with the two best one prior combined! nice!
phenomenal
The chorus of this song is so epic it got it's own bass drop.
hell yes jazz fusion at its finest!
3:41 One of the best moments in music.
this deserves 100,000 more views than it has.
Awesome song!!
Fuckin' aye, this is savage! Had no idea he had another project going!
Hehe Ambidjent Djazz!
@guitarfan149 I don't like to think of ever forthright as 'chris' band' I got into them via their drummer Jerad Lippi's drum cover channel.
Love this version
simply sick
this is the best Chris has ever sounded, fucking ace.
So much better than the album version
My little brother! Tear it up, Topher!
@suspectzike Have you ever listened to Into The Moat or Between The Buried And Me or The Human Timebomb or The Number Twelve Looks Like You or the countless other bands that have been putting jazz into metal for the better part of 15 years now?
My ears don't know what's going on, but they like it.
@Bluedrake42 go to our soundcloud page.
@Niallphillips Chris is great and all, but since Periphery, I've also seen him do vocals for Haunted Shores, Friend For A Foe, and now this. @metalhead77479 I love this whole song. Nick Llerandi is a GENIUS!!!
@Niallphillips Come on, can't we all live in peace here? We must all unite under the all-encompassing banner of djent!
I dont give a flying fuck what band Barretto is in. He still makes everyone djizz.
@DaFlux14 they're in the description
my new fav band...chris owns spencer haha its funny
@arrestedshrimp
Seconded, it's way to piercing...though I guess it would be different for all of our speakers...
holy shit bro you have no idea how happy i am after hearing this song, this is music

@thelogheart Yes
DJAZZ!?!?
@Niallphillips I personally think that Nick Llerandi Will Own Bulb. You just watch!
Got Djazz?
So much better than most other djent
at 1:34
I 'accidentally' roundhouse kicked my monitor off the desk
This shit is really good though, a huge step up from his vox in Periphery. He fits here better.
@LOKOMETASENJADOTOY was this before or after he was in friend for a foe?
@Ilikethatdjent nooooo casey belongs in periphery
@Niallphillips Travis does the studio work to pay bills. Have you ever seen pink floyd live? no. Would you consider their work useless? Makes me tend to djizz, 35ms later.
I need the lyrics :)
Is it Jazz......or Djent? ...... DJAZZ!

I think this break has better parts, but in the album version they make it flow much better
lmfao i took classes with the drummer of this band xD
Fucking pro band
Chris Barretto - Vocals / Sax / Ear Sex
Nick Llerandi - Guitar / Ear Sex
Billy Anderson - Guitar / Ear Sex
Jon Llerandi - Bass / Ear Sex
Jerad Lippi- Drums / Ear Sex
Kevin Theodore - Keys / Ear Sex

RUclips fights rule!
0:57 what the hell is that noise? lol
is this his new band?
@joyojimbo metal fusion, as compared to jazz fusion.
is chris barretto the singer?
@EddyMorino But they didn't, they just let the vocals run wild over the amazing instrumentals, ruining the over all sound. My guess would be that they felt that the band would be easier to sell this way or simply so that spencer wouldn't spend half the set just watching the band. 9 years later, Periphery has 9 albums, Spencer still going strong. Misha as popular as ever.
@@Dominodeffect I'm glad they made it work, I still can't listen to the vocals but I'm still listening
@Niallphillips Spencer sounds awful on most of the album because either Chris or Casey wrote the lyrics for the song, and both of them have differentiating ranges and comfort zones compared to Spencer. @TheWillBoyce whats wrong with your ears??
OH GOD please do something about that guitar tone. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much treble
ROBOTDJENT XDXD
Doesn't matter, had sax
jesus, hate to say it but periphery are goin down
@defbass1990 hence the sorta. Also hardcore is dead.
I find this song really interesting, but The Counter Shift or whatever is quite annoying in my opinion.
@heresjonnylawl SEA are finished and studio work is useless to his fans who will never get to see him play live. better than periphery. periphery's vocals just turn me off from them
