Why do you think it never occurred to Dimitri to bring up the fact that he had helped Anastasia and her grandmother escape? He seems to have totally repressed that memory, but when Anya remembers him opening the wall, it triggers his memory and makes him realize that she is truly Anastasia. He could have even used it as part of his con, before he knew that she was the real Anastasia.
He was hit on the head during the escape. He may have forgotten until Anya brought it up.
I think there was no point in bringing that up.
It was already a traumatic memory. The palace was being seiged, the royals panicked and murdered, Dimitri performs a good deed in helping Marie and Anastasia escape through a secret passage and in return he was knocked out with the butt of a rifle by rioting revolutionaries. When he came to, he learns his country has changed, the royals dead, the monarchy dead, Marie made it out but Anastasia didn't.
“You were born by a palace by the sea. A palace by the sea. Could it be? Yes that’s right!” Love that segment of the song! 🎵 ❤😊
“Is this a person or a cream puff?” 😂
Having not seen this movie since childhood, I forgot how good the dialogue in it is.
Lol
😂😂😂😂 then he throws Demitri 😂😂😂😂
for me she is literally a giant Creme Puff and i dont care 😌🙏
“Oh sure blame the bat, what the heck we’re easy targets”
I like Bartok's quote.
What are you muttering about?!
@@nathanboswell6611Anastasia sir, Just wishing I could do the job for you, sir. I'd give her a HA! And a HI-YA! And then a OOH-WAH! And I'd kick her, sir.
I know that was funny.
Too bad the real story of Anastasia didn't actually turn out so happy-ending-ish.
There wasn’t even an -ish to be happy about.
There's even conspiracies on it and it's like just let them rest in peace already
Despite the fact that Disney owns this she is not a Disney princess just wanted to remember that
@@jamessparkman6604 Why are you replying to my comment to say that?
Absolutely not. I still am fascinated by Russian antiquity. The Russians are important Slavs for the gathering of Israel.
Boy, that man is sure is wise
"You don't know if it's a lie, what if it was true". Later it becomes true
Always has been.
I love how the “blame the bat” thing aged cause of COVID
Too bad it wasn't true in the case of COVID-19.
@@roundlakerailfan6853 what do you mean?
@@scoutart1508they mean bats had nothing to do with Covid-19. Just good old gain of function research and greed.
I swear that man in the glasses reminds me of Fivel’s dad from “An American Tail.”
I like An American Tail as well from my childhood memories during the 2000s era after I was born on September 23rd, 1997.
That is because he has an animated by the same studio Don Bluth
Rasputin: My entire life depends on it!
Also Rasputin: 0:47
It’s okay; the reliquary is resistant to anything that’s not the main protagonist’s show. He was just trimming his nail on the glass.
"And then I'd kick her, sir." that was my favorite Bartok line from the movie back then.
The animation's amazing, and all the more because its held up so well! I wonder what it would like in computer animation...
Many scenes in this movie are 3D computer animated with hand-drawn texturing. I don't think any in this particular section (except maybe the water reflection VFX) but a lot of other shots of moving things (such as in the train sequence) or with camera pans (such as scenes in the palace). Very distinctive effect, was quite common of movies of this era. Very well done, and the animation is gorgeous - each background painting is incredibly detailed.
Actually Disney updated the color to modern times since it’s on Disney +
@@RachelSemeson Walt Disney said, "If you can dream it, you can do it, and don't let anybody say you can't." This is my biggest dream goal of bringing the 2-D animated style from Disney once again, and I'll save Hollywood for stopping all this ridiculous madness.
I think dimitri still has a lot to learn about patience
One of the few times Kelsey Grammer does a voice in an animated film where he's not a villain. Seriously, when it comes to voices in animation, Kelsey Grammer seems to be typecasted as villains like, Sideshow Bob ("The Simpsons"), Dr. Frankenollie (Mickey Mouse in "Runaway Brain"), and the Prospector ("Toy Story 2").
1:30 i love how Vlad just throws him XD
RIP Princess Anastasia
Keep in mind this is more like a fairy tale type adaptation of the Anastasia rumor
GRAND DUCHESS Anastasia.
@@scoutart1508 in real history Anastasia didn't survive
One of my favorite cartoons, I watched it many times on 📀, when I 13 years old, nostalgia. And when I was a kid, I watched it on VHS, but I remember it not so good, time when I watched it on DVD I remember better.
The nice cartoon, I also like the songs, I even learned five songs on English ( I am Russian, by the way), they are great! I still like this cartoon.
“I sold my soul for this” has meme potential
I want to kiss Bluth’s water animations.
3:06 the dog says no 😂
"I sold my soul for this. My life- my very existence depends on it. And you . . . almost destroyed it."
I can see the similarities of Rasputin's reliquary to being a Horcrux from *Harry Potter*
1:14 Anyone else find the way Vlad run’s up hilarious?
no one's talking about vlad he is sooooo sweet
I liked this movie it was my childhood, it has been years
1:34 Me too.
2:04 I have to say they’re perfect match for Jean grey and cyclops from X-men.
Hank Azaria is such an OG in character performances. This has to be one of his best VO's.
I luv the part when he up lifts her spirits, I really needed that right now!!!!😢❤
"Is This A Person Or A Creme Puff?" Priceless!😅😅😂😂
I love this movie so much
You know you've grown up when you realize Bartok added absolutely nothing to the movie.
The Comedy
Great movie, but isn’t it kind of stupid how Anya never asks these guys, “What’s in it for you two? You don’t even know me and you’re fixated on taking me to a place I’ve never been to to prove that I’m someone I’m probably not?” The one question she should ask these guys, and it never comes up.
2:26: I see skinny little nobody with no past, and no future.
I used to have a school teacher who looks like Vlad, but he was just mean. 😡
It's spelled Vlad

Let me tell you the only reason I can’t stand this movie is Rasputin. Like you can make a villain hateable and creepy without the demonic selling of souls and dismembered body. Like gross! The actual story line for Anastasia is amazing, why couldn’t the villain have been just a bit more normal?
That's what I actually like about him...
I love that RASPUTIN!! And the little bat too!!
You'd probably really like the broadway version of Anastasia then. They cut out Rasputin for a more historically factual antagonist.
Because this was made for kids and they wouldn’t worry about that detail
I've got to be honest, what are your opinions on having a woman like Sophie?
Bat
u wonder why russia is so hated
I don't get why
