      I was going to say something similar. I was going to suggest (too late now) that they cut the sides and bottom as normal but only cut the peaks of the top (from the inside). Then they could have pushed up the cut metal so that it folded on the uncut parts. Two poles placed at the far ends outside and the roof is done. Isn't hindsight wonderful.

    Al, have you given consideration of building your new home over looking the pond near your outhouse? My vote would be living in a house overlooking a nice sized pond like that or a stream as long as there is no possibility of flooding.

    • @matthewgroff433
      @matthewgroff433 3 года назад +3

      That is what I would do. I would build a house/cabin by one of the ponds. You would have a nicer view plus you have water for animals and use the pond for swimming (depends on how deep the pond is)!!

      Yes, while I’m only 62 my last house was a Ranch style, but had a steep driveway and a narrow hallway which didn’t work for the MS I was just diagnosed with. We sold and had a Ranch house built that was accessible. No more wood stove either, but natural gas furnace. If we sell this house in a couple years I expect we’ll get top $ as the master bedroom and closet have 36” doors. We have a wheelchair shower too. Those with the small living room 2 story homes WILL have a harder time selling.
      I do appreciate what Al’s trying to do with the wood stove and cooler in the basement though.

    Now that's a proper view out your shipping container!🌲🌲🌲 That is our view out every one of the cottage windows. It was designed and situated to catch maximum sun and woodland views. Your family will appreciate the sheer peacefulness of living this deep into the forest. Deer peer through our living room windows at dusk. We are on our 5th year and it only gets better, living in this sanctuary provided by Mother Nature.
    It is a balmy 🌴🌴 zero today in Central NH. Kitchen wood stove is pumping toasty warmth. The boys are cleaning out the dairy barn. 30 head of cattle are helping to keep in the heat, plus the low ceiling.
    Your have done well to convert the shipping container into a cabin. I look forward to watching you transform your new acreage into a flourishing homestead. We took the " The Best of Rural NH 1935" and " The Best of Today". Funny thing... the modern New Holland tractor gives us the most heartburn . My father-in-law's ancient Ford tractors just keep ticking away '-)

    Greetings family, nice job at the “boxotel” today. Your stove is awesome, that was money well spent for sure. Only one ingredient missing for your chowder Chef Gina???? A nice warm loaf of some sort! Stay warm and hope you get some more eggs for Sunday’s breakfast eh! Warmest wishes from Vancouver, B.C.😄

    I think since you have New Yoke City, Olivia's coop should be known as Chickcago ( pronounce like Chicago)

    Hey Al, you could use the big sheet of metal as a patio roof off the back

    Great job! Engineer775 on RUclips has lots of solar and water videos. We have found that rain water in Tennessee is better than our well for off grid living.

    Good mornin' Al, Gina and Olivia. February can get pretty cold here in West Michigan. Hard to tell, we have Lake Michigan 30 miles to the West. It can temper our temps but the lake affect snow falls can be quite deep. That woodstove seems like it really works well. Coffee pot is on. Every day brings Spring a little closer. Have a great day.
