    Unless my memory has failed me part of the deal of Newey coming to the then fledgling RB was equity in the team. His reputation is tied to the team as is Horner. Helmut will BE retired at some point this year, and Max/Joss will be given the option race or leave....... For mine the powertrain thing is the major issue of success. We all remember what happened to various dominant teams including McLaren and Williams when they lost works engine deals. In the modern era of F1 where the cars need to be as reliable as an interstate truck, the engine performance is critical (just ask Alpine). My tip is Max could leave, but it wont be over Jos's love life and a grudge, it will be because another option presents as a better choice in the new engine regs.

    The Newey part of the story is just wishful thinking from the media. He doesn't want to live in Italy. He is in a very senior position as CTO at Red Bull Racing and has been given the freedom to do what he wants inside and outside of the comany. This has resulted in things like the Aston Martin Valkyrie and the RB17 that he's currently developing. During the period of Mercedes dominance, when the engine mattered the most, Newey was allowed to spend more time doing his own things and Dan Fallows took up more of the slack withing RBR.
    Ferrari could offer him many of the same perks, I just don't think he wants or needs to do that. My feeling is he'll likely stay with Red Bull until he's ready to retire from F1.
    Sooo, long story short. Horner's position absent anything incriminating we haven't seen is secure, I expect Newey to stay and unless they get RBPT completely wrong, they will continue to be competitive for a long time to come. Losing Verstappen would be a blow for the team, but I don't agree with Marko on the importance of keeping him around should he not want to be there. They found a replacement for Vettel in Ricciardo and now Verstappen and there is talent like Lawson coming through, not to mention they could secure pretty much any top level driver in F1 if they want to go outside of their academy.
    As for Marko, his importance is questionable. Sure he's had a hand in bringing in some of the greatest drivers we've seen in F1. He's also brought in some absolute flops during his time in the sport. I'm pretty sure you could get the same averages tossing a coin.

    • @HassettRacingRants

      For me instead this is the beginning of the end Red Bull altogether. Ferrari, which has not won for many years, is putting together all the important pieces including the 2026 engine which leave much hope for its decisive moment, and if this happens it will go to Ferrari dominance as it was first RB then Mercedes, RB again and Ferrari will return with vengeance.

    • @LeJimster
      @LeJimster 6 месяцев назад

      @@fintonmainz7845 I don't think he's changed. I'm not convinced he's romantic about the Ferrari team, Italy or in the need of a big pay day.
      There were problems and clashes at other teams that made him leave for new pastures. He's been given everything he could ever want as an engineer at Red Bull. He's working on another sports car (RB17), he's working on his own side projects (designing a yacht). The only way he leaves is if the Red Bull team collapses imho.

    a) FIRST: RB HQ Austria made a HUUUUUUGE fuss about this.
    b) SECOND: Horner was utlimately cleared and the woman in question even suspended...
    Is indeed: a HUGE power struggle which probaby began at during the funeral of Dietrich himself.
    I have NO DOUBTS that Horner 100% did a dirty with Miss XXX.....and probably more than some whatsapps.

  • @Thetache
    @Thetache 6 месяцев назад +2

    When the Emperor died the Shoguns jostled for power the same here, the main thing in all this is to remember the car is way more important than the driver in F1, best driver in best car = win....any top tier driver in the best car = win. This has been the case for decades, look at Hamilton in not the best car, clearly he is in the top 3 drivers (I can't stand him btw) but now he is nowhere. Verstappen is way less important than Newey in all this, so if Newey and Horner are BFFs then its a fait accompli for RB. Jos Verstappen and Helmet Marko seem to be absolute arseholes as people and the instigators of this mess in a power grab, using Max as their lever to pull.

I think of those that have been with Red Bull in the past. Sebastian would be a great fit to take that role especially if Formula 1 is trying to go more environmentally friendly.

  • @henkormel5610
    @henkormel5610 6 месяцев назад +3

    More or less agreeing but a few remarks. Js Verstappen does not operate independent. He is part of team Verstappen that consists of Max, Jos and Raymond Vermeulen. The Porsche deal was far fetchet anyway. To do that Red Bull eventually had became a Ferrari or an Alpine who is a little further down that path. An OEM that controlls the raceteam. Porsche wanted only to partner up with a top team and gain a controlling stake. Good for Porsche but bad for the Red Bull Racing empire. This was if I'm recalling correctly shot down before Dietrich Mateschitz pased away.
    Before Mateschitz passed away he alledgedly (F1 insider, Ralf Bach) granted the Thai a controlling stake at the racing programme. He hadn't faith in his European succesors and with good reason.
    Horner is an ambitious man who would really like to race again with his own team. 20 years ago he set that dream apart to lead Red Bull in name off the energy drinks company. With Mintzlaff more controling and the Thay a majority stake he saw his oppertunity with backing of the Thai.
    Marko stood up for the legacy of his passed away friend and so they drifted apart. Marko is not the leader of the junior programme anymore. This function fell to Rocquelin the former race engineer of Vettel. Mintzlaff had no use for the guard dog of Mateschitz anymore so he was to be pried out of the F1 enviroment. This is where Max Verstappen stepped in. On his watch Marko stays. This gave a clear message to the Thai and Mintzlaff and restored the powerbalance inside the team.
    Newey is not on the pay roll of Red Bull but his private compamy workes free lane for Red Bull and other companies.

    Red Bull can win without Horner too. It was never discussed. Hence British bias.

    There's "something" I find extremely difficult to understand in the saga. What culminates as "an independent investigator"?
    Some "charitable barrister", paid from a Charitable loot or Aunty Mavis' loot, after her death. The supposedly "independent investigator" was paid by Red Bull, which to me, wasn't and couldn't be "an independent investigator". Come oonn, People, we are to think that Red Bull pays millions to that Barrister and the Barrister comes with the report, to soothe us all, that "Horney" was caught with his hand in "a big booty jar"? We have a record of "Horney", sticking his hand in Gerri's jar before, whilst his wife was 6 months pregnant. Simply put, it's one huuugge MESS! Let's see how SEX, the 3-letter word, drowns "mighty a man", shall we. 🤔🤔🤔

    • @HassettRacingRants
      @HassettRacingRants  6 месяцев назад

      It was an independent investigation done by a King's Counsel (KC) in the UK. In that sense they were an external counsel, who could be stricken if they are found not to be unbiased.
      Now they likely would've been paid by Red Bull GMbH, but that kind of goes against what you're saying because Red Bull GMbH wanted Horner removed, so why would they pay the KC to keep Horner.
      Basically the issue with this is, that if he made a biased move on either side, an appeal or lawsuit there after would be too easy. Let alone that if the barrister was paid for his decision, then how did Horner "win"?
      I get people don't like Horner, and that's fine, but in a logical legal sense, the idea the KC was paid off just wouldn't make sense.
