Gataker’s Bay, on the spot of the closed down restaurant was where my parents had a boat hiring place. Dad, Dick Kite, built the kiosk himself by hand. They ran it for many years before selling it to a guy named Bear, whose nickname was Yogi. Dad bought the old original boat business off people by the name of Whitaker. Our home, still there, was up the hill behind the boat shed, which was Point Vernon. That was back in the early sixties and early seventies. Dad was an avid fisherman. We often went across to Dundowran Beach fishing. It was all bush then. Eli Creek was popular for crabbing.
Hey Enzo. Long time ago until we met in Laughlin Nevada. Just saw this video. Brings back some memories. Was great to see you still doing great. All the best from Cyprus from your friend Udo.
The tips on where to eat are greatly appreciated. Would love you to visit my old hometown Rockhampton. Message me if you want to know anything about the region and smaller towns. Mount Morgan is quite fascinating.
Fraser Island used to be awesome many years ago before it became popular. I learned a lot about 4wding there and Moreton Island too as a teenager. Lake McKenzie is such a beautiful spot and Eli Creek is pretty cool too.
The young hoodlums I didn't do that when I was young. Some smart person just the 🐋🐳 wasn't up when I child 🚸😭 apparently JC was playing for the 👿😈❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊
Wow! Im the buy behind you at 4min 30 with the black hat and sunnies! Was my first day of work and living on the island
A good way of getting to really see what a place is like, without having to go there. Hervey Bay looks nice.

My home town. What a shame you were there after the floods. Our water is usually beautifully clean, and no rubbish on the beaches.
Fraser has a long history of logging. Starting in the early 1860s and ending in 1991. There was even a train line on the island to cart timber.
I love their botanic gardens.

Pialba Station is in its original position, the line used to run all the way to the Urangan pier.
The station is in the same position but they rotated it so it facing the other way
We had dinner at the Beach house Hotel. SUPERB!
This wall has me terribly nostalgic. Yet another cracking video.
@Darren Albury thanks indeed mate, but what wall are you referring to?
@@walkaboutwithrob Maybe a typo? Wally? 😁 Loved the old Carnie - my kind of critter! 😊

@zazzleman I'm currently looking for another destination to head to, and have never been to Rockhampton. What's good to see and do there?
@@walkaboutwithrob Beef capital of Australia! Go and check out the Gracemere sale yards. Lot's of history in Rocky and Yeppoon. Cheers
@@walkaboutwithrob Bundaberg, Mackay and Maryborough are great sugar city towns with lot's of history as well. Cheers
Visited Fraser a very long time ago now I was amazed at how clear the water is. Still amazed by it.
Used to holiday there as a kid, that beach house hotel never looked that good in the 80's
I wasn't ready for Robs Yakuza outfit. Looks like good fun on that scooter
@segaofmyhouse wish I had one of them scooters!
I ❤️Hervey Bay too!
Good stuff - thank you
How much to go to Fraser Island for the day?

@shelleigh5993 When you were a teenager - that would be back in the early 2000's?
😂😂I wish
Try the mid to late 80's
@@shellebelle53 same here
@walkaboutwithrob well there you go...can't beat being a teenager in the eighties I reckon 😉
Nice video. Thanks!
Are we now going to have *ScootinaboutWithRob*?
@Gordon Barker sure! I can get to more places that way.
It of the barrier reef and the one you pointed to is from the ancient sea
Beach House Hotel does have good food.

They were closed the day I was there, unfortunately
if you ever go back to herveybay it is well worth it to go i go everytime i am down that way @@walkaboutwithrob
Lake McKenzie looks super inviting but I’ll be sure not to wear white t-shirt. Must add K’gari to my bucket list. Hervey Bay for ANZAC dawn service.
@Wendy Fry I didn't want to drive the internet to wild by going topless.
@@walkaboutwithrob it’s shocking the censorship on social platforms.
My oldest daughter had a dog named Scooter. He got ran over by a car. He wasn't electric just super charged. Poor Scooter. Got Dunloped!
But where are the mushrooms 🍄 By the way, those rocks have been there before Homer wrote the Illiad.
Really? Before the Illiad?
Scoot-abouts with Rob. The future of the channel?
