@@gregorytranchita2676currently looking at one now and cant decide on the orange or white tho lol im ordering from overseas to so cant even a/b them in person. Do you have a favourite in terms of colour?
@@hiriwarikihana1283 If you like orange, the metallic in it really sets it off. The white is a pearl. If I was forced to choose one, Id go with orange. Both of mine have maple fretboards.
Right now through Dec.31 2024, PRS is running 15% off a good portion of the SE line including this one at $679 right now. They're available here at their link, as well as Sweetwater and Northeast Music and probably other places as well. Got my orange NF3 with maple fret board the other day for that price. Named him Julius, after the Orange Julius drink. It plays great.
Try the PRS SAS SE, those pickups are the most unique sounding pickups, I absolutely love mine. Swamp Ash Special. Would love to see Play and Trade demo it! And we'll done on this video 👏👏👏
I was talked into buying the SE McCarty 594. It wasn't cheap, but as you stated the playability is incredible, fit n finish is top notch as well. Mine is in the Sky blue color and both my 20 yr old grandson and his 8 yr old brother seem drawn to this guitar more than the rest of my collection. Great job on the reaction, the pickup s sounded good coming from your hands. But could certainly agree with you on the organic comment. Until next time. Rock on John n Zac? Zack?
It just sounds like a Strat with hot noiseless pickups. I wonder why… I think they look cool but if you own a Strat, you’re not getting any tones you don’t already have
I just don’t get thin necks. A lot of SEs have them. For me to be comfortable they need to be something fairly chunky or at least rounded, like PRS wide-fat. The SE Zach Myers neck feels pretty good.
Ok i loooove that finish... maple neck with the orange body ... I own a dgt se in gold ... the pick ups are otherworldly ... i put locking tuners n eventually i'll change the jack socket because my wireless boss doesn't agree with it ... i also own a ce 24 ... what i'm saying i 'm not sure i dig entirely them nf pick ups ... i 'm more of a humbucker guy and boy that se dgt ... i'm not even a rosewood person but still i went for it ... i'm an ebony guy or maybe a maple when i comes to fretboard woods... maybe i love the looks of that nf 3 more than the sound ... i have gas for sure ... i'm afraid i might get one even if i'm not a strat sort of guy n i believe this is a modern stand alone take of a single coil axe but different from a silver sky ... i totally get your thoughts ... i always wanted a maple neck prs with birds.. before it was only on signature models that go for 2 and half grand here in Uk ... i think it's a look thing ... sometimes is the look more than anything ... every time i hold my se dgt in gold my heart sings ahaha .... i just wish they could have done the birds on the gold one too aesthetically speaking ...
I own the Orange with Rosewood finger board. My guitar was 7lbs 2oz from Sweetwater. The pickups are not single coils, they are narrow field humbuckers. if you pop open the bottom plate you will find 2 bobbins inside just like a full sized humbucker. Things I don't understand is the resistors on the leads going to the switch. I haven't figured out what they are trying to filter out here, I speculate that its a coil bleed, where they are trying to get the second coil to blend in just enough to cancel hum but I've already ruled that out because its 4 conductor cable with the white and green wires shown in this video soldered together and heat shirked to prevent it from grounding out. IF ANYBODY COULD ENLIGHTEN ME I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHAT THE RESISTORS PURPOSE IN THE CIRCUIT ARE!!! My only real complaint is I think a Stratocaster can do the country twang thing better and the 2, and 4 sounds better on a Stratocaster. These pickups to me sound better for just straight ahead rock tones and blues tones with out the hum. They sound great clean, and they scream with high gain in a good way. This guitar kind of fills a need I had, which was I wanted noiseless pickups because I use in ear monitors a lot now days and the hum bothers me, even though in a mix you can't hear it in the audience. Hum doesn't bother me when its in an amp that is cranked.
I watched a demo versus the Silver Sky SE and I noticed the Silver Sky SE had a much more clean single coil sound to it.. I was hoping this would have the clarity of the single coils but it didn't. I hate a single coil in the bridge "Strat" but I hate the look of a humbucker in the bridge.. Maybe they can fine tune these and just stick one in the bridge for the humbucker sound without the hum bucker look? It would creat e new model for them too? Otherwise they are innovating so I want to encourage them..
I like it. But I would love it if positions 2 and 4 didn’t sound so muffled. Sounds like the tone knob was shut down in those positions. The other 3 positions were good. Position 3 really surprised me. The neck pickup sounded superb
If it sounded like other guitars what would be the point? Also if you want silver sky pickups in that body why would they make it when they already have the silver sky???? They sounded like p90’s to me and that’s a good thing as it has its own vibe which means it has a reason to exist and stand out
The narrowfield TCIs in the American Core series Studio Model sound much better to me than these narrowfields. These sound more compressed, bassier, and less articulate. These appear to not be constructed the same way as the those in the PRS Studio. There’s nothing wrong here with the sound, but if the goal was to predominantly mimic a single coil I think they are a little off. The narrowfields in the Studio were one of my favorite pickups because they did single coil sound so well but also could be fattened up. I think that maybe PRS would have been better going with a stacked single coil-sized humbucker or mini-humbucker here if they were truly going for a more sparkly single coil voiced tone. These sound more like PAF-style traditional humbuckers to me. Nor do they really aesthetically hit the mark if S-style is what they are going for, these being more the size of Burns Tri-Sonics or DeArmond Dynasonics. Come to think of it, I think it would have been interesting if they tried something like those designs for a truer S-style single-coil sound but with higher output. These reminded me more of noiseless P-90s and a little too mushy for my tastes.
Great playing as per use… as far as this guitar Same as my Silver and Cust 24(SE all I can comment on) they kinda make me throw up in my mouth. Especially the Silver. I can’t bring myself to sell it but man I hate that guitar.

Thanx for taking it apart. Now I know what mine (metallic orange/maple neck) looks like under the hood.

Man that was a burnin demo. Nice guitar too.
Doesn’t sound like a single coil. More like a Humbucker guitar. I would love it with stainless steel frets
I own the orange w/ rosewood fretboard. Love it and the pickups. I own different SE’s and an American CE hollow.
How did i miss this release? I guess i haven't been in the market for a new guitar. Plus i have so so many PRS guitars already.

PRS are the best brand out there at the moment. American or SE they’re better than Gibson and Fender at this time.
For sure
PRS is the Apple of guitars
On the bridge position, it sounded like a Tele.
Sounded great to me, but maybe something gets lost in the recording and listening on cheap laptop speakers.

Thanks for the content. This PRS looks interesting. Which "other meaning" made you hungry, Double D or Deep dish? ;)

HB sound.. not SC sound
