Enjoyed watching your Lectric XP video. Thanks for sharing. Me & my wife has had ours about two weeks now. Been on several short rides from our garage go store or park or boardwalk. I have just a little over 20 miles showing on my odometer and about half showing left on battery charge. I do a mix of me only & Power Assist 1 or 2, couple times 3. Question for you > you mentioned not good to run battery all the way down > how low would you say / recommend to go before charging again?
Thanks for the comment! From all the documentation I have read, the best way to prolong the battery life of your ebike or most rechargeable batteries is to keep the charge between 20%-80%. In real word use this is pretty hard to do, plus that means only getting to use 60% of the capacity of the battery. That being said, I always charge mine up to 100% but try to never discharge past 20-25% if I can help it. There are a few sites that reference this, but check out this one to get a better explanation! howtoebike.com/electric-bike-battery-care/
Instead of keeping it on odometer, I would highly recommend keeping it on Amperage. As the motor stays at the higher end of its amp range 15-18 amps, the bike will automatically reduces the power, to the motor to protect it. I also see that you never use your gears, which makes the motor work much harder, thus drawing more amperage. You have to help the bike out, with the gearing to get the most out of the powertrain/battery.
All their e-bikes are now sold out as of today and their website says there is a new generation coming out. I wonder what that means? I am on their ordering list and we'll get one as soon as it's available.
Looks like there be some front shocks in the future! And a little bit bigger tires. If your bike hasn’t shipped yet I think they are offering the ability to upgrade to the 2nd gen for $50.
I read that someone had an issue with the XP, loss of power. I found the post. it turns out to be - likely - working the motor too hard at high PAS. The guy was going up a steep hill. I don't understand how you get it to go so fast and only Pas one? How do you go so fast in only Pas one when you're just using only throttle?how u go so fast in pas1?
Hey Vincent! Thanks for the comment- Lectric has instructions on their manual on how to turn the bike from a class 2 to class 3, this gives it a bit more of a speed boost. I think Class 2 is limited to 20mph, and Class 3 goes to 28mph. The bike can only go that fast while unlocked to class 3 and while you are pedaling however. Using throttle only and having it unlocked to class 3 got me up to 24 mph at (depending on flat ground and hills). It you want to know how to unlock your bike to class 3 I can track down the steps for you! Edit: Should be on page 4:cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0288/5998/files/Lectric_Cycles_C965_Manual.pdf?3298563850547574364
If you have it at 0 PAS... you can go as long as you can until your legs fall off haha. In all seriousness PAS 1 or 2 I can get closer to 30-40 miles with mixed riding. It will be different for everyone though based on terrain. Thanks for the comment!
too2clean4u thanks for noting that- I should have clarified that I can get 23-24 mph on a fresh battery using throttle only, BUT you can hit 28mph in PAS 5 once you change some system settings as you mentioned!
I just rode it for the first time. I’m in love with it. I’ve never gone that fast on a bike in my life. By the way. Does the front fender make a weird noise for you?
Glad to hear it!! The fenders can rattle a bit if they are a little bent or the screws aren’t tight! They are pretty easy to bend back carefully though
Cool. 22 miles at 16. + mph on throttle only. Good. So with a bit of pedalling - level 3? - you must be able to get a good deal more mileage in? I'm around 160 lbs so this is all good news. But I read a comment elsewhere about someone having issues after 9 months. I hope it's rare.
Wonder what it would do with a 260 pound rider, no hills, at around 10 mph, throttle only???. I am disabled and want to ride around my neighborhood in the evenings for relaxation and to get out of the house. Need at least 20 miles throttle only range. Would be stranded if the battery went dead before I got back home because I can't walk either. I think maybe the RadRunner might be the way to go. Doesn't really look like that bike is made for 260 pounds.
Hi Matt, Did you ever figure the speed and range thing out? Did you watch any of LECTRIC’s reviews and customer reviews? I’m sure that by now you have realized the there’s a protective component built in to protect the controller from overheating. It will actually shut all the way down to avoid overheating. Then after cooling down, it will work again. That generally only happens when using full throttle and going up hills. There are other reviews explaining this. I’ve watched your video before. Yeah... that snake has lack of power, too. Yep, he bit the dust. I never just do all throttle. I mix it up, and have gotten 43.8 miles on one battery charge. I’m doing another range test and it looks like I’ll get even more range. Low PAS gives you high RANGE. You always want to ASSIST the motor on hills. Plus, the eBike is designed to only do 20 mph throttle only. I know you probably know all this by now, but just listening to you lets me know that you did not read the operators manual or watch enough reviews on the LECTRIC before you got it. I know you were excited and ready to ride. I HATE SEEING ANYONE GET STRANDED AND HAVE TO PEDAL MANUALLY the equal distance back. CALL AN UBER. 😄 I really enjoy mine. Happy Holidays! 🎄
Hey Donna! Thanks for the comment- I tried to note that this was a stress test. Not a recommendation on the bike’s use. The hope was to throw worst case riding situation at the bike and see how far I could go. In the real world I use it as recommended, when it hits 20% I recharge it and mainly stay on PAS 2. On throttle only I was expecting the 20 MPH noted in the manual too but was getting closer to 24 MPH (per the display at least). Always great to meet a fellow Lectric biker! Ride safe!
@@mattfiedler278 thanks for the clarification that it was a stress test for worse case scenarios. Makes better sense now. There are some people out there who won’t read the manual, or even watch useful reviews about the XP. I hope you didn’t have too far to go to get back home.
I have not reached out yet as I have not had this issue since- and have taken it probably 50 miles. But, if it happens again I'll reach out to Lectric and post any update here!
I know a lot of people have had great luck with their bikes, as well as the Lectric customer service if there ever is an issue. I would recommend joining the "LECTRIC XP Owners Group" on Facebook to get a feel for multiple people's opinion on the bike. To me, and after shopping around, the price for what you get is pretty unheard of for this bike.
I think the wheel size is fine, you could definitely upgrade the gearing though if needed. When you hit 28 MPH, you are hamster wheeling it if you are trying to provide the bike any assistance haha. There are some pretty cheap/reasonable options for doing this is you are willing to make that upgrade yourself.
Keep in mind- this video is not of me pedaling. I’m using the throttle only. If you look at the Lectric manual it will guide you on how to unlock your bike to Class 3 that will get you some more speed.
Recommend you get a rearview mirror it’s very dangerous without one. Check the amps that could be the reason your cutting out. Try to stay under 20 amps.Don’t run 15 to 20 AMPs for very long. Will tend to overheat.
Thanks for the advice! Do you have a mirror you would recommend? I was looking for just one on the left side- maybe easy detach as I fold the bike up a lot.

@@mattfiedler278 How many "bars" would 20% be?

Instead of keeping it on odometer, I would highly recommend keeping it on Amperage. As the motor stays at the higher end of its amp range 15-18 amps, the bike will automatically reduces the power, to the motor to protect it. I also see that you never use your gears, which makes the motor work much harder, thus drawing more amperage. You have to help the bike out, with the gearing to get the most out of the powertrain/battery.

How much further u get with PAS?
If you have it at 0 PAS... you can go as long as you can until your legs fall off haha. In all seriousness PAS 1 or 2 I can get closer to 30-40 miles with mixed riding. It will be different for everyone though based on terrain. Thanks for the comment!
@@mattfiedler278 look up urban Grizzly and look up the mod he did to the bike imma do it and imma freaking kill it in range and stuff ahah
I thought the top speed on these bikes with THROTTLE only...is 20mph..?..how are you getting so much more speed?
Some of it could be going down hills! I'll have to give it a go on some really flat terrain to verify- but I think I can at least get up to 23-24mph.
Likely to do with a fresh battery too
@@X82oo781 For sure! After I lost 3-4 bars it was capping out closer to 20mph
Go on youtube and type.. make lectric xp faster.. u have to change some stuff around in the system.. but its easy.. lets u top out 28mph
too2clean4u thanks for noting that- I should have clarified that I can get 23-24 mph on a fresh battery using throttle only, BUT you can hit 28mph in PAS 5 once you change some system settings as you mentioned!
Yeah I might end up doing a range test for each PAS just to see what the difference might be.
Did you find out what that throttle issue was ?
How long can travel 45 miles most people talk speed but not much mention how last battery for miles range
Good video
Thanks!!
Is that the xp lite
Does anybody know what app he is using to measure distance?
Any smart phone has a gps in it. Use that.
I used MapMyRide!

Doesn't really look like that bike is made for 260 pounds.
was that a 750-watt motor?
Hi Matt,
Did you ever figure the speed and range thing out?
I really enjoy mine.
What gear in pass 1
Matt, what gear were you in, in this video? Or does it make a difference to get up those hills?
I was just using the throttle in this video so the gear wasn’t a factor- thanks for the question!
Can u tell us 🇺🇸 how far it can go one battery
Nice roads and very little or no litter. Can't say that where I live.
Me either. There'd be tents and trash as far as you could see where I live.
@@Billy28376 San Fran?
I agree! Just a lot of nature! It has its benefits for sure
Have you tried to contact the manufacturer? The throttle cutting out is not fun and shouldn’t be a stock feature
I have not reached out yet as I have not had this issue since- and have taken it probably 50 miles. But, if it happens again I'll reach out to Lectric and post any update here!
Matt Fiedler please do! I wad considering buying this one but this seems like a drawback to me
I know a lot of people have had great luck with their bikes, as well as the Lectric customer service if there ever is an issue. I would recommend joining the "LECTRIC XP Owners Group" on Facebook to get a feel for multiple people's opinion on the bike. To me, and after shopping around, the price for what you get is pretty unheard of for this bike.
Matt Fiedler do you think the wheels are maybe a bit too small? Makes you pedal a lot more trying to reach that 28mph mark?
I think the wheel size is fine, you could definitely upgrade the gearing though if needed. When you hit 28 MPH, you are hamster wheeling it if you are trying to provide the bike any assistance haha. There are some pretty cheap/reasonable options for doing this is you are willing to make that upgrade yourself.
How are you PAS 1 at 23 mph????? mine don’t do that :(
Keep in mind- this video is not of me pedaling. I’m using the throttle only. If you look at the Lectric manual it will guide you on how to unlock your bike to Class 3 that will get you some more speed.
Matt Fiedler I will test throttle only today at 1, I have unlocked it, thanks for the tip.
Awesome! Let me know your results!
Is it just the video or does 20mph really feel that fast? The way scenery is flying by it looks more like 30+ mph!?!??
It might be the wide angle go-pro lens! It’s a pretty solid speed for cruising around though for sure.
@Titanium Is Real thanks for the recommendation!
Does anyone know what caused the throttle cut offs
I absolutely love my bike I think everyone should have one I'm planning a vacation to backpack to a state park and take my bike camping and exploring anyone interested in planning a small journey with me
What state are you?. I did my first bike camp trip last last May. I have just began riding again and am upnton38 miles. Shooting for 60-80 withb35-40 lbs camping gear on the bike.
Why is it too loud?
Personally I don’t think it’s that loud- I think most hub motors will have a similar wining noise for the most part.
What state are you in?
Illinois!

Wow 22 mile very impressive
How was the pedaling on the way back after it ran out of battery?
Not too fun lol it’s a heavy one

@@StrillLife how long did it last before you started to notice the battery not be as powerful? How many charges do you estimate? Thanks
@@mikelist4577 man I couldn't even tell you. It had to be around 2,000 miles or so. I've charged and rode that thing so many times before I noticed the fall off. Have you seen my last few XP videos? I just installed a new battery in my bike in the last video. But the XP video before that I demonstrate how the battery isn't what it once was. It still worked but I found myself staying closer to home because my range and power was seriously decreased.
@@StrillLife please ;-; tell us, how many days? months? after a year?
So you CAN go 28 mph with throttle only ??
A lot of factors to consider obviously but yes! I weigh 160 and was in a fresh battery. Plus this bike was unlocked to class 3 instead of the class 2 setting it ships with.
Pay that kind of money the controller should be able to handle using power all the time and not cut off.
This is interesting. I haven't hiked up to Class 3 yet, but I notice in throttle yours exceed 20... 20 is supposed to be the MAX on both classes 2 and 3. Interesting.
That is true! It will be limited to 20MPH when you buy it, the class 3 limit is 28 mph though is my understanding.
Thanks for watching!
@@mattfiedler278 class 3 is pedal assist only, same as class 1. Class 2 is supposed to be the only one with a throttle. If anyone were to start checking I think a lot of people are going to be in trouble.
