In September I picked up a 06' Forester that was about to be sent to junkyard. I paid $500 for it. Had some very easy issues to fix. Has 335,000 miles on original engine. Automatic and leaks oil but does not overheat. Has minimal rust under the body. I have a 09 Forester that is setup for handling so the 06' will be my winter car. Just got some Michelin X snow/ice tires so I am ready. Save the toasters!

Hey guys, im trying to swap my fozzy with a turbo k24a2. How would i be able to keep the stock tachometer working and run the k engine off a stand alone ecu? Planning on going with a haltech stand alone.
Technically no, but you have to replace the WHOLE drivetrain (hubs, axles, rear diff, brakes) and once you're putting that much money into it, just using the STI ECU or a standalone is worth saving the hassle especially when dealing with wiring from an AT to MT. There's tons of info on this all on the Forester Forums ❤
Oh shoot. Ok I had been looking around for information on it. Must've just missed it. Just picked up a salvage title 11 STI thinking about swapping it into a clean 07 FXT. I'll take a look and see what I can find
@@robmesaaz5737 If you have a whole donor car, I believe most of everything bolts straight in. Things like the gauge cluster, infotainment, ect, might require some custom mounts but you might be able to just drop subframes and swap them? I'm doing a AT to 5MT swap right now on my '05 FXT, and all the holes are pre-drilled and tapped from factory lol.
@@robmesaaz5737GR chassis is quite a bit different than the SG Forester. If you want to run stock engine management, you'll have to run a GD ECU and convert the engine to single avcs. The GR also has a bunch of stuff tied into the ECU via canbus which is a huge amount of work to swap over everything like abs etc. Also the suspension is different on a GR so you won't be able to swap the rear hubs if your wanting to convert to 5x114 instead of 5x100. I did a similar swap with an 08 donor car into an 02 SF Forester thinking everything would swap right over. Ran into all kinds of problems to figure out.
I want my 07 Fozzy XT to be just like Rodney but with the turbo you recommend with the more usable power band… honestly I’d be happy with 500 hp Rodney is so sick though…
@dogdog4173 if you throw in a cage on a street car there's xx many more points of contact to bash your head against in an accident or crash, if you install a cage usually you have to remove the airbags since they won't do anything anyways being trapped by the cage so that's even less safety stuff, usually if you throw in a cage you also have an aftermarket seat that isn't regulated for the street and will snap in half in a crash and also you likely have harnesses with your cage and bucket seat and those hold you in and don't allow the airbags to save you and reduce your trauma in a crash and can cause more issues. If you aren't wearing a helmet and neck collar while having a cage and everything mentioned you're just making it worse for yourself in a crash. This is coming from somebody who has a cage and bucket seat and harnesses with some airbags removed in their car but has a helmet and everything else and no longer streets the car anymore.
