"Commander Sheppard! Earth is under attack! We need your help!!!" "Sure thing. Just let me finish a few side quest first and mine a planet for resources first so I can upgrade my gun and then I'll get right on it." ".... are you serious?" Doing side quests before saving Earth; on March 6, 2012
Over a decade later and it's still one of the best videogame trailers to ever be released. The slow tension, the climax of seeing the literal apocalypse brought about by alien gods, and the question of "what can we even do?"
DeadlyReconGamer perhaps but I doubt hbo will be looking for a videogame to base a seriers on. Since GoT is gonna be ending in 2 years I bet their looking through a lot of books and what not to decided what else they can make their big show.
ZaneCRUZE You never know. Showtime is still doing that HALO series with Steven Spielberg, after all. HBO might want to get into something to compete with that, and where else to look first than Mass Effect?
I love how the entire game is spent gathering forces to fight the reapers, and In the end the other races contributed absolutely NOTHING. (Besides the Crucible)
Eldar Scrolls, Mass Effect, and Fallout are my three favorite game series. And two of them have new games coming out within the next 6 months. Kick ass!
The developers of Elder Scrolls and upcoming Skyrim are the few remaining ones giving lots of development time and energy to really creating something worth sixty dollars, actually well worth more than that though I must admit I am happy with the price as is. Hopefully it gets the recognition it deserves as Game of the Year... and hopefully it doesnt have any major flaws that would prevent that like the level scaling system in Oblivion.
@MikeG16 Exactly. I kind of like its not unlimited ammo, though. It makes things harder, but also more realistic. If you run out of ammo for your favorite weapon, you have to use your other weapons until you find more ammo.
Numerous things that could be going through Shepard's head at the window: "Fuck that, Garrus can handle this one." "Fuck that, it's only London." "Fuck that, let's get a stripper."
@Exorcistic I don't think I mentioned that he was the only voice actor, here let's put a list down: Christopher Plummer (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, The Insider), Max Von Sydow (The Exorcist, Minority Report), Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman), and Joan Allen (The Contender, The Bourne Ultimatum), Michael Hogan (Battlestar Galactica), Vladimir Kulich (The 13th Warrior, Smoking Aces), Claudia Christian (Babylon 5), Diane Louise Salinger (Carnivale), Renee Victor (Weeds), etc ran out of characters
@bluetablelover I don't want it to happen either, but it wouldn't surprise me. ME2 was originally planned for a holiday 2009 release, then it got pushed into January 2010.
@Swachitsky Unfortunately, and disappointingly, no. It's a live action/cinematic trailer. But for video games in this era, damn! The graphics are great.
@TheKillerman73 Actually they've already established that, if Shepard died at the end of ME2, your save cannot be transferred over to ME3. The ME3 storyline is only relevant if Shepard lived through ME2. :S
This is gonna be awsome and a welcome addition to the excellent series of ME games (yes I know there is currently only 2). Same goes for Skyrim and Gears 3 judging by release dates and expected release of ME3 the Xobox aint having a night off
@MrGamingOtaku I love Dragon Age as well, but you do got a point. That's why Elder Scrolls is more open-worldly. Elder Scrolls in my opinion, just truly represent over what a massive RPG game of its scale should look and feel like.
@kalev76 you dont have to care to be able to recognize the very clear fact that it is of a popular series and that people have limited income right now. The bigger the gap beetween mass effect 3 and skyrim the better, because IT will improve the sales of mass effect 3 and we all want mass effect to succeed
What I really hope (but reading about this game just diminishes it more and more) is that they will keep the wonderful RPG-side of the game and not turn it into the n-th mindless action. I just love all the modification possibilities one has, when developing a character in ME1 and ME2.
@asuch874 it ain't coming on holday 2011... on the Mass Effect website, they announced it was reported until March. March 6th I believe...thumbs up so people can see.
@KidsWithGuns1992 its already been announced, 3-6-2012 i believe. this video is a year old back when bioware planned on releasing it for this holiday but they pushed it back to march.
I always thought they should put Shepherd in silhouette since his (her) appearance is chosen by the player. This trailer is still freaking sweet though.
"arrow to the knee" is dialogue most of npc say in skyrim, dialogue is :"i used to be a adventurer like you, then i took an arrow to the knee. Hope this helps
@Bloddymanthing See my thought process was "I don't need your fancy ship upgrades to win! I'm doing it commando style" and then half my crew died...I DIDN'T KNOW THAT WOULD HAPPEN! Oh an by the way, just because I didn't buy all those fancy upgrades and make all my companions love me unconditionally doesn't mean I suck...ok maybe a little *sad face*
@Khimeran77 LOL considering the romance choices in the last game, I would not be surprised if one of the new ones was a Hanar or a Yahg or a Collector or a Thresher Maw. Though on a more serious note a Vorcha team mate has real potential if done rite.
@RavenRyy True, I guess. Though beyond anything, I'm more interested in the geth. I reprogrammed all the Heretics back to the main Geth, I'm eager to see the results, lol.
We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender!
@Ralokone Yeah, when did I say anything or imply anything about the delay of Mass Effect 3? I just said I don't care about Skyrim that much, because the last 3 or 4 ME 3 videos I saw ppl were commenting about Skyrim and how great it is :) Also Bioware would've delayed ME 3 earlier, but they were waiting if any of the other big game devs would delay their release first. The major devs were all playing the game of chicken wondering "Who will be the one going to the safe zone now"
Hmm...quite the tension, I never expected to get so drawn into the plot. And, in all honesty, I can't imagine fighting Reapers beyond simply delaying them or single strikes...a full on invasion's going to be quite the rollercoaster.
I'm actually really glad this was delayed till 2012, because i was going to have to chose between this and skyrim, but now i can get both because i have enough money to buy skyrim, and ill pre-order mass effect for christmas
@whitenightshade I'm not 100% sure but I think it is. Sean Bean does do video games, he was Martin in Oblivion so I dont think its a stretch. But I could be wrong.
@Rocketcrab32 Yes, because we all know that EA never makes good games. Mass Effect 2 was a MASSIVE development over ME1, and guess what? ME2 was made in cooperation with EA. So in case you didn't notice that whimsy little detail before, then notice it now and quiet down. DA2 has the gameplay going for it. It is story, characters and texture that people complain about. And ME3 has Kevin McKidd. It's a voice actor, mate. And he is a character made for those who STARTS with the third game.
@Ijustcomment010 dude, its not even out. Bethesda did well in hyping this game up to the maximum. I personally do not think this game will be as good as the hype suggests, but judging from oblivion, it will be pretty good.
Made me want to play Mass Effect 2. I bought Me2 at the end of the summer and i played it for about 30 minutes and ive never played it since. And i also bought like 4 other games and ive barely played them too.
@TheRitchardgaleHater We've only seen certain parts of Skyrim, same level is on almost all official videos. The game can still disappoint heavily in terms of length, story... like Oblivion did, where you had to play same level over and over again (closing oblivion gates) to finish the main quest line, and most side-quests felt like they were put in just for the sake of it. Also, Skyrim wont have the impact that Oblivion had on game world, because its not ahead of every other game in many things
EA is what happened to them :'( For BioWare's own sake, Dragon Age III better be on the same level as Skyrim- that's the only thing that can save them now.
Man, when that music comes in at the end!! Goosebumps! There are so many memories attached to the soundtrack! What an incredible series.
"Commander Sheppard! Earth is under attack! We need your help!!!"
"Sure thing. Just let me finish a few side quest first and mine a planet for resources first so I can upgrade my gun and then I'll get right on it."
".... are you serious?"

Over a decade later and it's still one of the best videogame trailers to ever be released. The slow tension, the climax of seeing the literal apocalypse brought about by alien gods, and the question of "what can we even do?"
Need to scaan planets, it can wait
2011...graphics finally become realistic
Almost 10 years later, this comment didn't age well.
Now we need a TommyKay's series on the Remastered.
Always knew that Tommy was a man of culture
And with it, games became boring and creatively stagnant
This is what happens when people don't listen to shepard
Come on HBO, you know what to do!
no
+BrianScarface ehhhhh, no. The way the universe is set up, it just wouldn't be interesting.
I have faith HBO or AMC would do it right.
The fade in of the beginning of the Mass Effect theme at the end of this trailer when Shepard turns from the window is just epic as hell.
0:55 OMG THEY KILLED THE CAMERA MAN
One of the best trailers I've ever seen.
0:58 Shepard: Can ya give me a minute? I need to run some calibrations...
0:33 "I used to be an alien invader like you, then I got my head blown off"
I love how the entire game is spent gathering forces to fight the reapers, and In the end the other races contributed absolutely NOTHING. (Besides the Crucible)
How about fleets, troops, resources, intel, etc?
When I first saw this trailer was so hyped, then I got to the ending :(
the guy's face is done so awesome I couldn't decide if it's filmed or animated.
nice to see big ben still standing 180 odd years from now
Rooney??
Al Muhajir hahaha
What the hell have you turned into Bioware!
Its a shame what mass effect has gone to....
Chills every friggin time!
Eldar Scrolls, Mass Effect, and Fallout are my three favorite game series. And two of them have new games coming out within the next 6 months. Kick ass!
more like this less andromeda...
The game is amazing. The ending is shit.
True
0:56 That shit gave me chills.
God, I hope my pc will still be able to run this game. I enjoyed the previous ones so much, even though I started playing them only a year ago or so.
I really hope we get a vorcha on our team in mass effect 3. I just love those tenacious little bastards.
@WarPig971 not anymore unfortunetly, Casey Hudson, the lead on the mass effect series, stated today that it wont be out till Q1 2012 now.
I'm a huge Elder Scrolls fan, and i didn't play ME2 till about this time last year. I'm getting both.
@MikeG16
Exactly. I kind of like its not unlimited ammo, though. It makes things harder, but also more realistic. If you run out of ammo for your favorite weapon, you have to use your other weapons until you find more ammo.

@TillDeathAndBack very well said
haha 0:59 shepards like fuck this im going to bed
I like how they keep his face dark but lit up his armor, since Shepard can look any way the player wants, but will always serve under the Normandy.
@Exorcistic I don't think I mentioned that he was the only voice actor, here let's put a list down:
Christopher Plummer (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, The Insider), Max Von Sydow (The Exorcist, Minority Report), Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman), and Joan Allen (The Contender, The Bourne Ultimatum), Michael Hogan (Battlestar Galactica), Vladimir Kulich (The 13th Warrior, Smoking Aces), Claudia Christian (Babylon 5), Diane Louise Salinger (Carnivale), Renee Victor (Weeds), etc ran out of characters

@TheKillerman73 Actually they've already established that, if Shepard died at the end of ME2, your save cannot be transferred over to ME3. The ME3 storyline is only relevant if Shepard lived through ME2. :S
Skyrim is such a good game that people are actually bothering to comment on other vids that are not related to skyrim. Makes me smile :)
This, Batman Arkham City, Elder Scrolls V Skyrim, Assassin's Creed Revelations, Star Wars the Old Republic... damn it's a good time to be a gamer.
This is gonna be awsome and a welcome addition to the excellent series of ME games (yes I know there is currently only 2). Same goes for Skyrim and Gears 3 judging by release dates and expected release of ME3 the Xobox aint having a night off
Don't. Just don't. You can't compare two phenomenal games that are great in different respects.
@MrGamingOtaku I love Dragon Age as well, but you do got a point. That's why Elder Scrolls is more open-worldly. Elder Scrolls in my opinion, just truly represent over what a massive RPG game of its scale should look and feel like.
Shepard: "Harbinger, your ass is mine!"
(Looks out window)
Shepard: "Oh, fuck that, I'm moving to Illium.
this is how shepard picks his vacation spots.
0:59 Shepard: "I should go."
Tali... I'm waiting...
youtube why do i have to watch a commercial in order to watch a commercial
been waiting for so long !!
Shepard, u can do it!
@kalev76 you dont have to care to be able to recognize the very clear fact that it is of a popular series and that people have limited income right now. The bigger the gap beetween mass effect 3 and skyrim the better, because IT will improve the sales of mass effect 3
and we all want mass effect to succeed
@254jacksonpro this game was made in Canada and Canada has never surrendered. ever.
i hope the graphics are just as awesome as in this trailer
nice to see the london eye is still standing
What I really hope (but reading about this game just diminishes it more and more) is that they will keep the wonderful RPG-side of the game and not turn it into the n-th mindless action. I just love all the modification possibilities one has, when developing a character in ME1 and ME2.

@MrGamingOtaku I agree. Skyrim (TES) is one of the best fantasy games and Mass Effect (trilogy) is one of the best sci-fi games.
@Nnemicvids Pure brilliance. Bioware should hire you for the dialogue of official spoofs
Battlefield 3, Mass Effect 3, Skyrim, Uncharted 3, Brink ... this is going to be a awesome year :D wohooo but MASS EFFECT 3 oh god im so happy ;)
@Khimeran77 LOL considering the romance choices in the last game, I would not be surprised if one of the new ones was a Hanar or a Yahg or a Collector or a Thresher Maw. Though on a more serious note a Vorcha team mate has real potential if done rite.
First time I saw this and saw the N7 glow up I literally blew up in excitement.
@Kaokli You certainly are a pillar of maturity :)
This game needs to have infinite number of sequels that's how good it is
@auomauom I think Bethesda REALLY stepped up their game with Skyrim honestly, ive never seen a better RPG
@FoolyCoolyMabase Definitely not me. You're on your own here.
watching mass effect 3 trailer with a mass effect 3 advertisement
@RavenRyy True, I guess. Though beyond anything, I'm more interested in the geth. I reprogrammed all the Heretics back to the main Geth, I'm eager to see the results, lol.
We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender!
You can fight like a Krogan, run like a Leopard, but you'll never be better than Commander Shepard!
ive never played any mass effect game, but this seems like something really worth getting!
@Ralokone

Reapers:
Mass Effect 1 :Shepard?
Mass Effect 2 : Ah yes "Shepard".
Mass Effect 3 : HOLY SHIT SHEPARD!
@Jakob178 True. Because fortunately for Skyrim, Mass Effect 3 isn't out until 2012...
Hmm...quite the tension, I never expected to get so drawn into the plot. And, in all honesty, I can't imagine fighting Reapers beyond simply delaying them or single strikes...a full on invasion's going to be quite the rollercoaster.

@whitenightshade I'm not 100% sure but I think it is. Sean Bean does do video games, he was Martin in Oblivion so I dont think its a stretch. But I could be wrong.
This combined with The Elder Scrolls five is enough to signal the end of my life.
Really, there is nothing that could top the release of these games.
Looks like Harbringer brought his friends.
@Rocketcrab32
Yes, because we all know that EA never makes good games.

I've always been wanting to land on Eart with those 2 mass effect games. Now I think I'm gonna be actually be in it. YES!!!
@Jungele It wasnt an ingame video.
shepard thinking: well....cerberus pieced me back together...then this shit happens?
Made me want to play Mass Effect 2.
I bought Me2 at the end of the summer and i played it for about 30 minutes and ive never played it since. And i also bought like 4 other games and ive barely played them too.
I can't wait.

They got the music soooo right.
theres a damn explosion of good games coming out this year!
I used to be a Normandy like you, then I took a collector laser to the mass effect core
Hey, the narrator for this trailer I believe is also the voice of Hawke in Dragon Age II.
I really hope games will actually look like this one day...
This game and Skyrim are the only two games I'll need to keep me happy for the next two years @_@
They're destroying those buildings, and then they're going to destroy me. OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD.
Anderson: Earth is under attack facing near destruction....
Shepard: HELL YEAH PUT MORE OF THAT STUFF THAT STUFF GOES IN
Anderson: *facepalms*
