The irony is this entire show is basically a middle class fantasy of how Cockneys (most of whom now live in Essex rather than the east end to make way for immigrants and trendy yuppies like this) live and act. The singing around the piano? It not my fair lady almost all traditional boozers like the queen vic, in this part of town have been closed down lol.
katie seymour Those feelings could resurface if Phil finds out it was Sharon who actually took the money from the robbery, and put them all in danger from Aidan!
Was i the only one who didn't understand the animosity toward the guy with the petition - he was making a good point about not wanting convicted criminals living among them. Just because 80% of Walford are convicted criminals - doesn't mean we should be on their side lol.
monalisasmile I think Shirley was saying about when they've PAID their penance, they should have somewhere to go after prison (especially if they are seriously repentant or even innocent, which they may be.)! I agree with her here. It's not an alternative to prison, it's just somewhere they can go afterwards to rebuild their lives!
alex jones oh right I see. I only brought it up because a street I used to live on years ago, the council decided to make what used to be an old people's home into a halfway house type of place for young offenders. It was the last house on the street. I think they started a petition on it but it didn't work. I had already moved by then but I heard alot of residents weren't happy. And last I heard there was a lot of trouble on that road, with police being called all the time. I realise not all situations are the same though. Petitions sometimes do work though, my parents organised one once years ago with my Grandad's help - we needed signatures to help 'remove' a "Neighbour From Hell" 😈
monalisasmile Ok, fair enough. There can be some neighbours like that. But, tbh, I think this is a bit like locking the barn door after the horse has bolted in Walford, saying "Oh, we don't want any murderers, rapists, paedophiles etc here!" Don't you??😀😀
I always thought this was the biggest overreaction of all time and the guy didn't deserve it. Shirley's not so pro-criminal that she can't see the nuance in not wanting criminals on the square. She's done dodgy things sure but this was a weird leg to stand on for her and to this extent
I like Phil and Shirley’s everlasting friendship

The violent gangster 🤣🤣
Am I the only 1 who thinks they still have feelings for eachother?
katie seymour Those feelings could resurface if Phil finds out it was Sharon who actually took the money from the robbery, and put them all in danger from Aidan!
katie seymour : Yup... and when Phil eventually finds out Keanu is Sharon’s baby father he most likely will turn to Shirley for comfort.
Phil never loved Shirley, she was his best mate for sure but nothing more on his end.
I miss Shirley and Phill together I want to be in a relationship again

I agree with the man with the petition after all, who would want convicted criminals in their areas like Pedo's for example. I certainly wouldn't.
