Restocking The Old River Irwell Jan 2023

I'm chairman of The Salford Friendly Anglers Society - the worlds oldest (and best) fishing club.
Its always one of my great pleasures to record the restocking of our clubs waters.
Especially the Old River in Irlam - which was once a true flowing river, but was turned into a lake by the construction of the Manchester Ship Canal in the 1880s.
The lake was polluted in 2008, and we've worked tirelessly as a club to restore the lake back to its former glories.
Roach, Rudd, Bream, Tench and Carp have all been restocked into the lake over the past 10 years... today we started restocking Crucian Carp - if this re-introduction is successful, we shall introduce more Crucians over the next 3 years, to establish a self sustaining population.
Next on the restocking list are gudgeon, but its not easy to find them for sale..
