Nice. The shock setting at 26m does not have to be completely removed. Pull back the tab just as you did and just slide the spring out if the way to get to the jewel.

Hey everyone thanks for watching! I really enjoyed this project and hope you did as well. I’m still getting used to filming these while making repairs. I’d love feedback on the format of these so I can continue to improve during future videos! Drop a comment!

M5 = 1965 on the case and M6 on the movement main plate. Love the styling and especially the luminous hand shape. The rotor is two metals, led and steel. Add moisture and you get intracrystalline corrosion. The lead suffers and swells with white crystals forming. Good job and thanks for posting.

These watches should be considered bulova’s “vintage oyster perpetual” It has the timeless design and reliability many people look for. Great video keep up the good work!

Not sure if you're at the point where you use a timegrapher, but I really would have enjoyed seeing the results on this watch. Amazing dial, and the strap works really well too. That's a little treasure you have there! Thanks so much for sharing this!

Good job. Taking the balance assy out as early as possible is a good tip for new folks. Unless you have an endless supply of parts, you must be careful with it. And as you showed, you'll sometimes need to work your way towards it, removing other parts. I use a razor blade to get under it to lift it off. Some staffs will break with the slightest pressure from trying to pry it up with a screw driver. As far as removing the crown/stem on watches like this; I just pull the crown out to the setting position, put tweezers (that will fit) between the crown and the case, tilt them a little to pop the crown off.
BTW, your mainspring looked broken.. when you removed it, the end was still in the barrel 16:58. Sometimes a mainspring barrel will have a bridle that a normal mainspring can pull along but I didn't see a riveted tab on the end of your mainspring 17:08 so I'm guessing the part in the barrel broke off the mainspring.

Thanks for the great tips! I’ll look into the spring also. So far it’s running great, but it may get a boost in amplitude if that is an issue! Thanks for watching and chiming in!

Thanks so much! And the bands are wonderful, my friend makes them by hand you can search online for “Dead Miners leather” and it should bring up his brand.

The name of the tool you used to remove the crown is a presto tool! They're usually used for pulling hands and cannon pinions.

Really enjoyed the video. I wonder if the hands have radium paint. Kinda looks like it, but, hopefully not. Thanks for the video. Beautiful watch.

Great eye, there’s a good chance (it’s right before they began phasing it out). I have a meter on my tools to order list! Based on my research it’s fairly safe to work with if you’re careful and take some precautions (which I always try to do). I’ll update this once I get a reading in the near future. Thanks for watching!
Update: I finally received a Geiger counter and it’s at normal room levels (12-15 CPM in my case) so it appears it’s just a good replication of the color!
