      More minor, but I think it was also the turning point for Javier? Before chapter 5, he seems kind of undecided on his stance(?) sometimes probably best shown in a few random camp interactions, like one with Dutch where Javier tries to voice concerns and Dutch preaches his philosophy a bit and Javier responds "I guess" and Dutch tells him it's either yes or no, weak or strong, doubt or faith. Then in chapter 6, Javier is a LOT more hostile towards Arthur and others who may be straying from Dutch and it's pretty clear his mind is made up. In this chapter, Javier goes through a lot until he is rescued, and I do think his attention would primarily go to Dutch (leader of the gang, he gets to make the final call on whether Javier is rescued or not and Javier sees him leading the mission ofc and the way Dutch takes up a lot of the dialogue etc after rescue)

    Guarma should’ve been the perfect island for Dutch, beautiful beaches, farmable mangos, a people needing liberating. Old Dutch would’ve thrived on that island, romping with Baptiste and the gang fighting against the slavers.
    This Dutch isn’t like that anymore though, when he’s presented with the romantic narrative he so often think himself as living in he tries to leave as soon as possible. They kill fussar but there’ll be a another, there’s no guarantee these people will be free, dutch barely even bothers negotiating for a better deal with the movement, he probably could’ve argued for free land for his gang to be transported and set up there.
    But dutch is long gone at this point. He doesn’t really want to help these people or even his gang really, instead they get out of there, right back into the mouth of danger, deprived from his one voice of reason, just so he can play cowboy revolutionary. How the mighty fall..

    I might be one of the few who loved the Guarma part. I mean maybe where and when it happened wasn't best but I've always liked this type of scenario in jrps like in Final Fantasy. Where the characters are separated or stranded and have to find their way back to each other and to get back to move on. They did it very well in GTAV during a first, unexplored playthrough, when you first meet Trevor. Everything in the beginning takes places in Los Santos, going out to the desert was so different. Guarma felt and was very strange and exotic. I could have done without it if they gave us a more fulfilling New Austin and Mexico.

    Another fantastic video man. I found Guarama a bit "we're getting real Hollywood now" at first, but upon going through it, I realized it was a device to progress Arthurs sickness, show Dutch's decline and a lot of hints shown here that Micha is the rat. Truly a necessary part of the story.

    • @reservoirfrogs2177
      @reservoirfrogs2177 3 месяца назад

      Not necessary in the slightest. There are dozens of times in the story that would easily be a better excuse for his TB worsening. A single gunfight would be enough stress and trauma to fast track the disease, let alone how much physically and mentally demanding work he did otherwise.

    • @reservoirfrogs2177
      @reservoirfrogs2177 3 месяца назад

      Also Micah didn’t turn to the police until after this chapter, Milton says so himself. The whole “rat” thing is badly overplayed, the gang has caused so much trouble anyone with the slightest effort could have tracked them down.

  • @Deyone_Jackson

    Arthur would've easily made it a couple of or a few more years if the gang instead of staying at Shady Belle after the O'Driscoll raid and the Pinkertons being in the area, would've gone up north to either Moonstone Pond or Fort Brennand. Then instead of sneaking on a boat, they should've went down to the east docks and run up the coast and between the trees and the swamp with the little islands where you find alligators hanging around and as they avoid them and keep running. They already would've left Saint Denis and could just stay away from the road and run up to Canebreak Manor, which would be visible to them from where the swampy place is. Then take a break there and see if they can continue and run to that houseboat that's 11 o'clock from that house so they would've seen that too and could rest in there. Charles and Javier could look out for some canoes that would be nearby and cross the river with them and keep running up north between the trees and bushes. If they were at Fort Brennand, the boys would've easily made it up there which is just up the Kamassa River on the other side. From there, the gang could've left everything behind and only take what they need and ride up north and through Grizzlies East or if they were at Moonstone Pond, then just go from there up and ride through Ambarino to Chez Porter where that family was that Arthur and Javier raided and then they could hide there and be patient. Sadie could find out that John is at the island prison and get that baloon and Arthur and Sadie could free John with Charles probably joining the two. Then as the gold would be split, they could figure out how to move forward and Micah wouldn't have been a snitch and he might've left with his gold anyway, because he's just looking to survive and would have enough to go away and not get caught by the Pinkertons who are still after Dutch and the gang.

    In Chapter 3 and 4 you can see very small white spots on Arthur's forehead, but only after Guarma is it extremely noticeable, ironically Horseshoe overlook would be the best place the gang stayed at for Arthur when he got TB
    Also I always noticed that Dutch didn't take the gold he gave Gloria back after killing her, he just moves on instead of taking it back.

It shows the gang at their absolute lowest, no longer big bad outlaws out in the open but hiding and scrambling to stay alive like rats. I can't understand why anyone would want it removed. I disagree. You can easily cut Guarma out of the game and it doesn't make a lick of difference to the story. That new fan movie, Red Zeppelin, didn't even bother putting it in and it worked out brilliantly. Guarma is pretty, and it can even be fun, but it's a gigantic waste of time in the narrative. What does it tell us about the story? That Arthur is willing to sacrifice for Dutch? We already know that. It doesn't give us a different side of Micah. It doesn't really tell us anything about Javier, and we already know Dutch is losing his mind. Guarma does nothing but offer the player a long break from the story it never needed.

    Guarma should have been cut from the game, just like the Epilogue.

    I feel like Arthur was set up as places like Lemoyne and Guarma are extremely hot and humid worsening his disease.

      Thats a bit farfetched. But he was very unfortunate for ending up in such places.

      @@something4179 no its not, the doctor told him go to a place where its warm and DRY so yes Guarma and Lemoyne are warm obviously but both Placebo espescially Lemoyne bcs its a swanpland have very high humidity (lemoyne is the equivalent to Lousiana in the RDR universe and i just looked it up and lousiana has a humidity of 86% today and thats very high)

      @@Friril the air down there is very thick and unpleasant, it’s like your underwater in a hot bath at times.

      @ultraviimolet540 I'm from the south and have traveled across the country multiples of times anything humid is so bad I despise my birthplace due to the weather being temperamental and humid here

    I didn't spend much time in Guarma during my 1st playthrough, started my 2nd playthrough a while back and was planning to spend more time in Guarma this time, but still in chapter 2 exploring and finding things I missed the 1st time through, and also can't bring myself to busting Micah out of jail yet.

    My first play though I hated it and it seemed like it took forever. My second play through I appreciated it and was able to see the significance.
