We truly enjoyed this hike. We recommend to start from Männlichen. This way the hike is downhill and the mountain peaks of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau is always in front of you. The elevation loss is also gradual so it will be an easy hike. Happy hiking!🙂
@@RiRi619 The hike from Mannlichen to Kleine Scheidegg typically takes 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. We recommend allocating 2-3 hours for the hike to allow for leisurely stops to enjoy the breathtaking alpine scenery.
I just got back from this area of Switzerland in May. The views everywhere were absolutely stunning! I'll try this trail the next time I vacation here. Thank you for the video!!!
That is wonderful! We are so glad the video helped you plan your hike. The views are truly breathtaking, so we are sure you and your family will have a fantastic time. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Enjoy!
Anyone try to hike this trail in March? Is it still covered in snow? It looks like several ski runs intersect this trail so I’m wondering if it’s hikeable in March. Thanks!
The Panorama Trail that is shown in the video is closed in March. However, there is a winter walking path from Mannlichen to Kleine Sheidegg that is still open but will take you to another path and is a longer route. The trail also ends a little further from Kleine Sheidegg. See link www.jungfrau.ch/en-gb/winter-hiking/winter-walking-trail-maennlichen-kleine-scheidegg/. Hope that helps in your trip planning.
We did this on the last Sunday of September last year. Temperatures were 5 - 17 degrees Celsius. Area is still green but with a dusting of snow in the paths as the winter season was about to start in a month or so.
Yes, the hike from Kleine Scheidegg to Mannlichen involves a steady ascent, with some sections being steeper than others. The views would be different as you are approaching Mannlichen rather than facing the Swiss mountains Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau during the hike but still breathtaking.
Thanks for your video. Is there anywhere along the hike to fill up your water bottle or go to the bathroom? I am thinking there is not. I really wanted to do this hike, we are in our 70"s, just wondering if we can do it.
@beachmom19 There is no area in the hike to fill up your water bottle. We did see a portable toilet in Picknickplatz in Honegg, but did not use it. What we did was to fill our water bottle at the Mannlichen Berghaus and go to the bathroom before starting the hike. And did the same when we reached the Grindelwaldblick restaurant near Kleine Scheidegg. We saw a handful of people who are maybe in their 60s or 70s doing the hike. See 3:09 in the video for example. She brought a walking stick with her to steady her as the gravel path can be sometimes tricky to walk on. We hope this information helps you in your decision. Happy travels! ❤
The trail is generally open from mid-June through October. The Panorama trail shown in the video is probably closed in the beginning of May. As weather is unpredictable, it is best to have a look at weather conditions in the area before going on the hike. There are also live cams you can look at in this link www.maennlichen.ch/en/live.html.
On average, this close to 5km hike will probably take 2 hours to complete. Or if you are a seasoned hiker, probably less than that. It is mostly downhill trail. However, it took us around 3 hours to finish it with stopping to rest, drink and eat and enjoying the views and filming along the way. It is best enjoyed at a leisurely pace as some of the views will take your breath away. Overall, for us it was a moderately challenging hike and the views of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau for most of the hike was the added bonus.
The wooden building is a shed where hikers can take shelter from the wind and sun. There was a toi toi portable toilet at the side of the shed when we hiked there.
Thank you for the video. I know this trail and I highly recommend going on it. It's just currently closed due to bad weather in Switzerland in recent days (July 3, 2024), with flooding in the lowlands and landslides in the mountains. So hikers have to go down to the red hiking trail a bit lower and then go up again at the other end. This path is about 1 km longer and takes about an hour more than the panoramic trail. How long this panoramic trail will be closed I have no idea. Depends on the weather.

How many hours ?
@@KC-mo2xp On average around two hours but depends on your hiking experience. For us, we did a leisurely walk and did it in three hours. 😃
