Hi, I’m Maureen, I’m 35, I’m from Scotland. I’ve just moved to Madrid and I’m currently studying the Intensive Spanish Course in AIL Madrid.
So I just started the course this week, so it is currently my third day. Previously, I’d been studying for four years, but even within these two days I feel that a lot more confident speaking Spanish. So I feel the course has definitely helped me, particularly with all aspects of Spanish, reading, writing, speaking, in particular, and listening.
I ended up learning Spanish because to be able to communicate with the family of my boyfriend, and I came to AIL Madrid on a recommendation from a professor or a teacher who was teaching me Spanish in London.
So, as I mentioned, it’s only been, today is my third day, but already I feel a lot more confident speaking Spanish. The teachers are fantastic, very knowledgeable, very helpful, and I particularly like the way in which that it’s taught. We’re learning. Yeah. In the past three days, like I said, I’ve learned a lot of particularly Spanish phrases, which help when it comes to speaking and understanding when I’ve moved to Madrid.
I think there’s a lot of speaking in the class and the teachers instil a lot of confidence in the class to be able to speak. I wouldn’t really say. I don’t know. In my opinion, there’s not. Maybe not anything specific, but for me is very obvious that the teacher have a lot of experience and a lot of knowledge and are just fantastic teachers.
I think I was in that position. I’d say just go for it. As I mentioned, the teachers, the school, they’re really well set up to be able to take you to any level, whether that’s your beginning or you are right at C2 even. I think they’re very well set up to help whatever level.
I would say just don’t hesitate, sign up. The great thing about AIL Madrid is that there’s lots of activities as well. So if you’re feeling, oh, I don’t know anyone already, there’s lot of activities I’ve participated in, met lots of students, so I’m able to practise Spanish with the students. So for that, I would just say, go for it.
So already I have done two. When you join on Tuesday, there’s an introductory tapas night for all new members. And it’s great, it’s a great way to meet people from all different levels and from all around the world, as well. Also, we went to the CaixaForum the other day and it was just what the activities are really good at helping you learn and feel confident to speak Spanish and more importantly, to meet people, which can be difficult when you’ve moved to a new place.
