In addition to Botan's weakness against alcohol, when you smoke up alcohol like this, the still-present vapors travel faster through your nose and towards the brain, and it hits you much quicker than through the bloodstream via drinking.

I'm not that updated with botan, but wasnt she unable to drink alcohol? I remember on drunk amongus collab a year ago she was the only one who did not drink alcohol but eat a lot of chicken instead.
That was just a rumour, the reality is she's perfectly able to drink alcohol, she just doesn't because she's a super lightweight and is a very sleepy drunk (as opposed to a chaotic, entertaining drunk, something more conducive to stream content). As of a few months ago she's become comfortable enough with drinking to actually do it on stream once or twice though.
Its kind of a gesture to drink at parties or work related parties in at least Japan or generally Asia countries. Unless one absolutely can't drink for some reason like allergies or some kind of physical sickness, being around an alcoholic workmate like lamy can get you every now and then. Not to say botan has a drinking problem now, one can refuse to drink yet still drink as a "joke" or party with friends. Maybe she's just more comfortable with the girls now compared to that Collab

Though, considering this and if she's had drinking streams since, it may be that the allergy means she has that somewhat common gene there that makes her extremely weak to alcohol, there has been some kind of progress with the allergy, or there was something else going on altogether. But ultimately, who knows about earlier, apparently she can drink some now and that's that.
