The Fastest Steam Train in the Southeast - US Sugar 148

Welcome to Clewiston, Florida. Today, at the Sugar Express, based right here in Clewiston, three special excursions will run for the annual Clewiston Sugar Festival. Clewiston is home to U.S. Sugar’s main mill, a large regional employer, hence the name “Sugar Festival.” US Sugar also owns and operates the Sugar Express. Today’s train will be powered by the railroad’s steam locomotive, ex. Florida East Coast 4-6-2 Pacific number 148; a 1920 product of the American Locomotive Company. The locomotive is also wearing a new whistle, a Nathan 6 Chime from a sister locomotive, FEC 153. So get ready for fast steam on the flatlands, as US Sugar 148 thunders through the cane fields!
