GIVEAWAY WINNER - Congrats Bob McGregson for winning the Soviet army! ☺☺ I hope you guys enjoyed the video! I'm so happy to finally have an army (with a little more work to do).
Ollie, Congratulations on completing the 24 hour challenge and an entertaining video. The icing on the cake would be to beat Grim in a Bolt Action game WITH your the Polish. On behalf of the M4H Team, our beneficiaries and their families, thank you ever so much for your honest, meaningful support.
Welcome to another video and another 24 Hr painting challenge. I love depriving myself of sleep and taking on massive painting projects. We got it this time!! Let's go!!
Models for Hero’s... first I heard of this charity but I am totally on board... hah punny! This hobby and painting models has helped me so much through dark times and will always be a hobby I maintain. Also I am Polish and my grandfather was a machine gunner so this video rocks!
@@BroadswordWargaming Yep, ive been putting them off for too long! Also have a Sarrisa Horsa to build. Might be my next lockdown project. Thanks again for the inspiration.
Awesome, well done mate, I did miss a bit more shots of the 'finished' army though, would have like to see a bit more. And I was a bit worried about all the colours before the end, but the washes made them come really nice together, it looked great!
There is a still a bit more work to do, but not a lot of time needed. I'll finish them up this week I think, then they can move to the display cabinet in the new studio. 😀 ill be posting lots of pics in social media when they're done, so you'll be able to have a good look then.
I have an bolt action army based on my Grandfathers experience in WW2 as well. It was in my pile of shame but I have brought it out of the pile and I started building it up tonight! Thanks for the inspiration!
Yeah, its a bit of a slog but it's certainly effective. I hate having to go back and do the boring parts.. so getting everything base coated together means I can do the rest in my own time. 😀
My mate has tried getting me into bolt action for months...maybe this is the push to get some games in after lockdown? Best of luck with the charity challenge, and keep these challenge painting vids coming!
Haha, im just s glutton for punishment. I find them to be useful ways to get me painting my hoards of grey, as I never have the time to paint unless its for a video. 😀
Poles were my first BA army. I used the vallejo paint set and it was like painting by numbers but took ages! These look cool! Good work and a great charity.
This is absolutely fantastic Oli and what a great cause it was for. Can definitely see you are becoming more comfortable with these challenges and your airbrushing skills. Given I am still waiting for my own Bolt Action army to arrive I can wait to crack on with mine when they arrive.
Ah thanks buddy! 😊 Yeah, I definitely feel like I'm more proficient with an airbursh now, so I feel more confident to use it on stuff now. Ooo, what army you waiting on?
Thank you very much. I've got a bit to do to them, which I'll do this week. Highlights, metals, more on the bases etc, but not too far off. 😀 I enjoyed doing these, you should give them a go..who knows, you might win a bolt action set. 😀
Woohoo! Congrats on finishing a 24 hr painting challenge Oliver. I must say this was the perfect video for me to get out my old SS army that are collecting dust in a box and remind myself on how much points i have and why bolt action is such a great game! Keep up the good work and hope your move to the new studio transitions smoothly!👌
Got the british airborne starter and I'm nearly half way through after more than 30 hours of work. Nice painting! Looks like I need an air brush aswell.
Battle reports are definitely on the cards. 😀 There are a few players locally, so I'll have to get something going on the channel when lockdown is over and the new studio is sorted.
Nice work, I find my BA guys incredibly tedious going compared to big chunky Space Marines, but having picked up an airbrush in lockdown it might be time to try a similar project.
For the record, you are right. The Polish cavalry never charged tanks. Though the tanks they were engaged by were Pzr Kpw Mk II which were miniscule by even the Mk III & IV tanks the Germans had. What happened was the cavalry caught a German supply column in the flank and were tearing them a new one when the tanks showed up. The Cavalry were supported by machine guns by the way. A German news reel team came on the scene after the cavalry had withdrawn and made the story up for propaganda. No mention was made of the chopped up supply column. Just as an aside, that little TKS tankette looks like the model with the 20 mm gun which was piloted by a heroic type who fought and destroyed a significant number of German tanks using ambush tactics. The Germans said the tank was so small and fast it was like trying to hit a cockroach.

Thanks! Yeah, its a great system and it's a good way to learn about the history of different nations, in regards to the war. Its all very well written and researchee (as far as I can tell). 😀
The real story behind the Polish cavalrymen is the tale of I believe C squadron, 18th Pomeranian Uhlans and the Charge at Krojanty. The 18th Uhlans were actually in the middle of conversion to the modern mechanized standard. Their A and B squadrons had already been converted to armored vehicles and was trying to get mounted up on the first day of the war. The still horse mounted elements of the 18th responded to a break through by elements of the Wehrmacht 76th infantry regiment, who'd broken the line of Polish border troops near them. The lancers rallied, and rode out to battle, catching a battalion of infantry at rest, they charged, and routed the German infantry. This actually had massive impact on the initial campaign, as wild stories of Polish horsemen in the German rear terrorized the German logistical element and through quite the wrench in their works generally. Unfortunately for our heroic lancers of the 18th however, they too were caught at rest shortly after their charge by German armored cars, and many Uhlans and their mounts were cut down by machine gun fire as they rallied and fell back. It's the bodies of these fallen Polish heroes and their horses that the German propagandists showed to Italian newsmen and spun as stories of Polish cavalry charging the mighty tanks of the Wehrmacht.
This looks awesome I also want to start a Polish Bolt Action army but kind of don't know where to start. For the story of the Polish Cav charging tanks that is German propaganda. What really happened was the Polish infantry was being suppresed by the German troops and coudn't move so the Cav charged the enemy guns so that the Infantry could pull back. While the Cav troops where fighting the German troops some German tanks came in to support their troops killing the Cav troops.
I haven't played Bolt Action but after seeing this and getting the free US marine sprue from this month's Wargames Illustrated I might have to look into it.
