We have used the ruclips.net/user/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! What a great idea to use an inverter to charge the Yeti Goal Zero 400 while driving!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing this information!!! This is so helpuful!!! I wanted to buy the car charging cable 12v, but now I am going to use the 300w inverter that I have and charge it while driving. Such a great idea, thanks thanks thanks!!!!!! @@AxeOverland you may be right, however if you upgraded your alternator to high output, and did the big three wiring upgrade, you will do a bigger systemic improvement
Don't go below 50 percent on the 400 unless it is lithium, will damage the battery !! I have the 400 and a battery changed for longer time . Good video !!
Yea I have a battery light on my display now. When I looked it up in the manual it says internal battery damage. Great! Lol I emailed Goal Zero, waiting for a response.
Thanks for this info! Was looking at my charging situation with my Dometic and this video helped alot. You got yourself a new sub w/ notifications on man! 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing. I am waiting on my frig and solar to arrive. I am going cheaper setup. Will be interesting to see how it compares to your setup.🙂👍 subbed up.
Very useful insight into the electrical side of things, especially after picking up the Rubicon last weekend!! Was considering a second battery, but everything's on the opposite bloody side to the US kits I was going to import.
@@AxeOverland that's the one I was looking looking at. We're certainly at a disadvantage owning a Wrangler this side of the pond. I might have to go down the Yeti route to power the fridge. Great tip on using the inverter for charging Scott.👍
nice run down pal. But my question is, do they not make larger sized lithium batteries though? I'd love to have a battery that I know could run atleast a few days before dead...
Thank you. Yes there are a few options now. When I purchased this one the price was the main reason I went with a non lithium one. If I was buying today I would definitely go that route!
@@AxeOverland right, hearing good things about the 2400Wh bluetti battery banks. Looks like they will power one of these fridges for up to 5 days before needing a charge! that's nuts!
Thank you. I am not too happy with that panel. Plus with the lack of great sun here in the U.K. I didn’t get good results with the cheap panel. But I have picked up a Renogy panel and will be trying it out this summer. But to answer your question, my goal zero fully charged will run my fridge for 24-38 hours (I did a video on the results) but the panel would not bring in enough power to add much to the goal zero.
Great vid Scott..I just bought a Yeti 500W and looking at purchasing a 300W inverter like your setup..I'm concerned about blowing fuses in my Ford transit connect.I've read max from 12v at 15 amps should be 180W..have you had any issues/recommendations? Cheers from Ireland..
Thank you! I do blow the fuse twice a month sometimes. Then other times it will last for a couple months. But it never blows the fuse when I have it plugged I to the constant 12 volt socket. Only the one that comes on with the ignition.
Is there a yeti battery that doesn’t need an inverted? I thought I watched a video where a guy talks about that. I’m confused on how to setup a battery like that in the back of my truck
What’s the difference from draining the battery from plugging the fridge in to the cigarette lighter compared to plugging it into the inverter into the cigarette lighter?
The inverter charges the Goal Zero quicker and it is only plugged in to the cigarette lighter while I am driving. Once I get to the campsite, I unplug it from the cigarette lighter it is only running off the Goal Zero.
@@AxeOverland I have been looking for this information on the internet for a month I think, thank God that He helped me find it. When I go for that long I will some times plug the inverter in for a while to charge the Goal Zero. Then at some point run the Jeep for a few minutes to make sure the Jeep battery is good. But I always have a Jump pack just in case. Lol
How long does that Goal Zero run your fridge on a single charge before you need to recharge it? I am curious is the 400 can run a fridge throughout the night?
@@AxeOverland yeah, there website says 7 hours for a small frig. I think they mean a dorm fridge, not a portable frig. I watched your other video, where you said you were able to get 30+ hours! Right now I use a Grizzly 40qt cooler in my Jeep when I go camping, eventually I'll get a portable frig unit.
Great video: helpful, informative and easily understood. Proof it doesn’t take a musical soundtrack and bikini-clad to be successful. Not that bikinis are bad thing mind you. But please don’t change. I have been looking for this. I think I can charge the Goal Zero from the outlet in the bed of my Tacoma. Thanks much. Sub’d.
Based on my experience (I own four Yeti 400's) the Yeti 400 uses 8 Watts of power to run it's inverter/AC Plug, so you are wasting a lot of battery power just to run an AC outlet. So running off the AC outlet is a disadvantage only. Hope this helps!
I am not sure as I always top it up when I’m out by plugging in my inverter. But it’s a great question! I have ran it completely down and have started charging it. I am timing it and then will lol run the fridge non stop to see how long it lasts. I will make a video update and post it as soon as I get the results! Thanks for the great question!

Any advantage / disadvantage to running the Dometic off the Goal Zero AC plug vs. the 12v Cig plug?
it would run the yeti down a lot faster. The yeti uses a lot of energy converting its 12 volt dc battery power into 240 volt AC.
