I’m sooo excited for you!! But the vet tech in me is screaming on a few things (I am a vet tech student and have been working in the field for 7+ years): 1) The retractable leash - Absolutely one of the worse leashes. They are not as study and they jam more frequently than you think. 2) The food - Purina Pro Plan is actually a good brand and is one of the top four we recommended. I wouldn’t suggest changing him to smaller company brands (Rachel ray, fresh pet, froms, etc) because most brands do not do allergy testing or any kind of food trial testing. With Purina, Hill’s, Iams, Royal Canin….they do and have research behind them. They have breed specific foods as well and most are prescription diets. Dogs now a days have food sensitivity and allergies and some owners don’t realize. We see more than enough cases of food allergies. It will present as vomiting/ diarrhea, itching/ scratching, hives, skin irritation, ear infections etc. smaller companies foods you have to be careful with because even when it says “no chicken, or no beef” there are still byproducts that may contain those proteins. I do not recommend doing a grain free diet, grain free can cause early heart disease (speak with you vet about it). If you change his food, I wouldn’t recommend doing it so soon especially if he is doing well on what he is eating, but if you do definitely consult with your veterinarian about slow transitioning and recommended diets. 3) Nyla bones - I would returns those lol. More often than enough, we get patients that break teeth on those things. Antlers, Nyla bones, pork bones are not good for dental care. Dental care already is EXPENSIVE. But breaking major teeth and having to get them extracted will rack up a bill really quick. One question we alway ask when people bring their dogs in with broken teeth is “what do they chew on?” Antlers and pork bones can break off, if chewing on them good enough, and turn into choking hazard and potentially foreign bodies (meaning surgery). For teething, Kong toys and the freezing rings are usually good. These are all recommendations, and from experience. I love sharing my knowledge because I know how fast a bill can go from $72 to $7200. I’ve worked in the ER, and general practice. I’m currently in a general practice. One last recommendation is pet insurance. I would look into different ones but this will save you big as well. I would also look into obedience classes and socializing him when he has all of his vaccines. Also talk to your veterinarian about flea/ tick prevention and heart worm prevention. I hope this information helps! Congrats again 🐾💕 can’t wait to see y’all journey 💕💞💞
Also a vet tech here and I completely agree! Retractable leashes are terrible and can also cause your dog to pull more. For chewing, it’s recommended that you get things you can make an indent with your nail in. For example, antlers. You can’t indent it with your nails so it’s most likely not a good idea. I also want to add that sometimes puppy pads can harm your potty training more than help it because some dogs will become more accustomed and comfortable with using the pee pads over going outside. A good way to try training is using the bell method. Unfortunately I have small children so I trained my dogs to sit at the door and bark 2x to indicate they need to go out.
I agree with most things you say but for me I tried every big box store brand of dry food and they all gave my cat runny poo and bad gas untill we landed on two small owned brands Blackwood and Nutrisource she’s doing so well on it we have tried purina hills Iams etc none of them worked is it really that bad to feed small brands ?
@@aishahowasis8484 I don’t think so. I’d look at the ingredients list and honestly Purina Pro, Royal Canin, Hills etc don’t have great ingredients. If I were to feed a kibble I’d go with something like Orijen. But kibble is only about 100 years old and the common sense in me says fresh balanced food is best. For our dogs/ cats and for us. Those big brands are noticing this and are starting to invest in more research on fresh food so I’m hoping fresh will be accessible for all soon.
So exciting! I would recommend a camera like a Blink camera to watch him on. I got two puppies this year and it’s comforting to be able to check in on them when I have to leave the house. I would also recommend a urine destroyer or enzyme destroyer spray when he has accidents as you’re potty training. I didn’t use this but a puppy pad tray or holder might be helpful if he chews and destroys the puppy pads. It’s supposed to make them harder to destroy. I started potty training as soon as I got them so I bought a bell to hang on the door for them to hit when they need to go outside and it was super helpful in the process. Sending good vibes your way!!
Congrats on the new puppy! Love this haul. Just a tip about taking you pup outside without being full my vaccinated. I have an 11 week old Shiba Inu and I take her outside everyday. She only goes outside to potty in my yard. But I take her to home Depot, Lowe's, on walks because the socialization is so important. I never put her on the ground though. Either I'm holding her of shes in a backpack I bought for her on Amazon. it works great and she loves it. Plus I can walk my other two dogs and carry her on my back and she doesn't miss out. Good luck with your baby. Great haul!
I got a Yorkshire terrier in December he’s 3 yrs old he weighs 5lbs & he won’t get bigger. He’s very clingy especially with me more than anyone else in the house lol
I was just about to say the puppy wipes but you said it at the end… Lol and also the puppy baggies so when you’re out and he poops you can dispose of it in the bag. Mine hangs on the end of our leash… and I got it and the wipes from Marshall’s or Home Goods… he is super cute in the short clip! You’ll do amazing as a new dog mom! Good luck and have fun!!
My daughter has a toy Yorkie-poo and she feeds her Royal Canine (I believe is the name). She loves it because they make their food based on the dog’s breed so you can get the one made specific for toy poodles. Enjoy your new baby!
I have a toy poodle 🐩 he’s 1 year I’ve had him since he was 7 weeks and he was a gift from my bf so I had NO preparation lol. I would just recommend to take him to the vet immediately after getting him. I took mine same day bc I had no clue what I was doing lol I cook for my dog biweekly and keep it in the freezer. I don’t trust a lot of dog food brands as most of them come from candy factories that have no knowledge on dogs. There’s a bunch of homemade dog food recipes on RUclips 😉 they are VELCO dogs you won’t be able to pee in peace lol and they bark for everything especially if they are happy or excited. EXTREMELY smart breed girl watch what you do in front of them bc they will likely catch on and you will be stressed lol when I get ready I have to do it slow enough to where he thinks I’m just walking around the house because if I get ready fast he will take my shoe or something I need and I will be late to where I need to go lol my mom calls him “little human” bc they are THAT smart it’s almost amazing. Good luck on your journey with your new puppy 🥳🐶 sending blessings and happiness also girl you are so beautiful 😻
Awww 🥰 omg that’s funny him taking your shoe !!! I did take him to the vet the same day I picked him up !! Check out the vlogs to come ! They real smart for sure I’m finding that out ! Thank you so much 🥰💕
Hi I know this old but a great way for training is hand feeding during their typical feeding times. Instead of using treats you can use their actual food to do typical training (tricks or even just random commands) and that will help with preventing food aggression as well. DO NOT play in your dogs food. That does not help with food aggression but actually causes it
Hi! Get your puppy a claiming bed... Dog's love them... I got my an my puppy loves it an she extra as hell... I got mines on Amazon the one the comes with the matching blanket... Also enjoy your furry baby
Bring a couple of those pee pad with you when you pick him up he might have motion sickness. My puppy did the holy trinity on me he threw up, poop and pee all throughout the ride. Start playing rain and thunderstorms sound on tv or a speaker so when he experience a storm he won’t freak out and cry all night long. Please cover his crate or he will cry all night because he wants to near you.

Purina pro plan is actually a really good food. PetSmart employees are trained to advocate for those expensive boutique brands. Purina is good. It's backed my years of scientific research and has gone through extensive feeding trials. And it meets WSAVA's highest standards. Stick with Purina.
Go to ross, marshalls, tj Maxx for most of your dog stuff petco is wayy over price. Also be very on top of potty training. Also get teething toys for him.

Oh! And I tried the snuggle puppy for my last puppy but she just chewed on it so keep an eye out for that

Go to ross, marshalls, tj Maxx for most of your dog stuff petco is wayy over price. Also be very on top of potty training. Also get teething toys for him.
Yesss ! Thank you
I would recommend raw if your not Sure go to the Channel Rachel Fusaro
when they poo or pee on the pad just say good job and give them a treat
The best food to get dogs are all natural raw food so it’s all meat and and all natural diet
she looks like AI I CANT!!
Tip: Don’t put many pee pads down, just put it near the door (and where you think is necessary) that they will go to, to go outside to do their toilet business.
🙌🏼
You’re beautiful
dont get pepe pads it will teach him to pe inside
