I hate it when they say "shatters the laws of physics" then explain the physics behind the process, people should say "at first glace it shatters....."
facts, I bought a slurpee two days ago, put it in the freezer, just brought it out today to unfreeze enough for it to return to slushee form, and googled how these were made lol.
Simple physics/chemistry Any kid who grew up next to water knows that ice is always thinner/won't form properly in places where the water is moving because the ice crystals can't cluster a bind together. Anyone who remembers chemistry from school knows that distilled water freezes at 0°C and that the freezing point can be dropped lower by adding impurities into the water, for instance adding 15% NaCl (table salt) by weight would drop the freezing point by ~10°C
This video could have been 30 seconds long, it has a cooling system, sugar lowers the freezing point and the mixers keep breaking the ice and mixing it to make it even.
You could try car antifreeze, it also has sweet taste and its purpose is to prevent water from freezing 💁♂️ but give it only to your mortal enemies 💁♂️
An antifreeze can be anything that lowers the freezing point of the liquid it's put into (in this case water). It's not always toxic chemicals. Sugar in this case, salt is also an antifreeze.
This explains why some Slushies have literally tasted like they were poisoning me...cause they put anti freeze into it...aaaaaaaand i’m done drinking them...
aren't there slushies that expand after you pour them into a cup? i remember filling a cup to the top with slush and minutes later it was over flowing all over the place xD

It's actually a surprisingly good way of explaining it, if admittedly a bit dramatic.
I much prefer the "Slurpee" styled slush, served through a closed container/pressure expelled slush than these "Granita" style machines.
Todays my last day working at a slush shop and only now have I decided to learn how they actually work bc it’s been bugging me for ages 😂
