So glad our cockatoos put on a good show for you. We easily get 20 or more of them in our yards before it rains, yes they’re noisy and they’re silly and love to show off, but Aussies don’t hate them- Australians are very fond and protective of our wildlife, it’s how we were raised- even the annoying and potentially dangerous ones, we know what to do and we ensure we’re not harmed and that they are also not harmed!
The "Oprah House" gave me a good laugh! I love cockatoos... and kookaburras. Natures alarm clocks, and after a while you do get used to their raucousness! Just like living on a main road! Welcome to my home town :)
@twobetween So glad you enjoyed your short stint in our little island home. Just a feeling I have ... I think you'll be back. Thanks for the video showcasing a few of the things to do in Sydney that can be done on a tight time schedule. Cheers mates! 🇦🇺👍🦘🐨
Welcome to Sydney guys, hope you enjoyed my hometown! That fountain in Hyde Park is known as the Archibald Fountain and was built to commemorate the Australia-France association in World War I. Let me know if you want any tips on where to go next. 👍
Sydney looks like fun! Wow, those Sydney airport trains at 1:14 look so sleek, clean, and so advanced. Like the Lamborghini of the rails haha. Puts New Jersey Transit and SEPTA trains in PA and NJ to absolute shame!
The bird with the long black beak. They call Ibis aka Bin Chickens (Bin Chooks). They are native birds and reason why we call them Bin Chooks. They love eating garbage. They are a pest of a bird.
Welcome to Sydney. Born in NZ till family moved to Sydney when I was 12. I forgot how beautiful the South island was till Inwatched your NZ videos. Please do Bondi to Coogee coastal walk but keep an eye on the weather forecast as its been raining a lot lately
... and that there is a Frangipani @25:21, some of the most beautiful looking and smelling flowers in the world IMO Hope you guys come back down under again soon.
Australians love most of our wildlife. Cockatoos are fantastic. Big personalities and cheeky as. Don't show fear, worst thing you can do as animals sense such. Stay calm and confident, no quick movements and walk away steady.
I am from Melbourne. What I particularly like doing in Sydney is catching the ferry to Manly or Double Bay.I don't think there is a large city anywhere on the planet that can compete with the beauty of Port Jackson and the Northern Beaches
Sydneysider here. Totally agree. That being said, there's nowhere on the planet with the mix of food, culture, cafes, lifestyle, and, of course, coffee than Melbourne. I hope they get to experience that soon.
Great vid guys, I worked in Sydney for many, many years. (mostly on those big grey ships) You really did a great job showcasing the city and showing a day out on the cheap. Just for info, the "Pirate ship" is a replica of the HMS Endeavour, which was sailed by Captain James Cook from England to discover Australia. Good luck with the vid and I hope it gets plenty of traction. If you are still in Australia, check out Jervis Bay area on the South Coast, 2 1/2 hrs from Sydney, you won't be disappointed. Ps, Cockatoos are loved and hated by us Aussies, check out you tube vids of them eating peoples houses!!! Cheers Simon
Thank you Simon! So glad you enjoyed the video - We really appreciate the info on the 'pirate ship' and recommendations - We're sadly not in Sydney anymore but had such a blast there that we're already planning another visit 😂 We'll definitely be stopping by the maritime museum next time and Jervis Bay sounds absolutely beautiful. Oh and great tip on the cockatoo videos - Sarah can't get enough! She loves how cheeky they are
@@twobetween If and when you do return, head out of Sydney to the Blue Mountains ... our humble edition of the US Grand Canyon ... almost as big - a blurb from Aussie tourism goes something like : "it's not quite as deep as North America's Grand Canyon but it is one kilometre wider and every bit as majestic." It's all green, lots of waterfalls to visit, and great trails/hikes you can experience (time permitting), and plenty of look-out places for the best photos.
Or take the ferry to Manly (not nearly as congested as Bondi gets). Bondi Beach in my opinion is just 'okay' (the coastal walk I think is far more impressive and memorable) - apart from the 'history' and popularity of the place, if you're after a non rushed beach experience, any other beach in the close vicinity of the CBD is just as good, if not better. Cronulla's Esplanade Walk is a ripper of a suggestion - haven't done that one for ages.
That is an amusement park called Luna Park! They have one in Melbourne too! Cocktatoos and wild kangaroos are plenty in Canberra 😂 I see them everyday when I lived there 😂 Finally you saw some 😂
Ohhh thanks for the info on Luna Park! That's so cool you got to see cockatoos and kangaroos everyday 😍 That's Sarah's dream come true haha. We'll definitely add a kangaroo to our list for next visit 😂
The sulphur crested cockatoos are probably the smartest of the cockatoos. The Pink and Greys - known as Galahs - are easily the dumbest and do the silliest things. They can be very funny to watch, especially under water sprinklers. They will usually roll around on the ground under sprinklers. I once watched about 12 Pink and Greys land on our back fence - that was a round metal railing along the top - then one by one spin upsidedown on the rail. They used to do that all the time, but that time they synchronised it. Thats what they are like. Thanks to how Pink and Greys act, "Galah" is also an Australian word for a person who clowns around in a way that could possibly cause disastrous results. The dictionary says 'australian for a stupid person" but that doesnt quite catch the meaning.
Must do: Ferry trip to Manly (might see Fairy Penguins on the harbourside beach, and/or Ferry to Watson's Bay and walk around the South Head entry to the harbour. BTW, public transport has an upper cost limit of $50 or $60 for the week.
We actually saw one on top of a bin at one point! By the end of the week, we were calling them Australia's pigeons lol - bin chicken is even more perfect 😂
You can hold the Cockatoos in the Botanic Gardens at the back of the Opera House ,Pemelwuy the Ferry named after a feared Aboriginal warrior from out near Blacktown western Sydney

A lovely couple
Very nice video...relaxed and visually pleasant. Congratulations guys.

Ooh, I had the best coffee in Sydney exactly two years ago at Single O! Congratulations on the viewership count ;)

Parks and green spaces are sort of a standard in most Australian capitals. Melbourne was specifically designed that way too.
Ooh, I’m only a quarter into the vlog but I hope you guys had some Aussie pies!! 😋

Thank you - and ahh were so close 😂

Thank you, great tips - Sarah fell in love with the cockatoos and other animals. She's already planning another visit so she can see more 😁

I loved this video ! Nice editing Sarah ! Hope I get to touch the Opera house one day 😃
Thank you so much! Maybe we can all go on a trip together to Sydney sometime 💕
As someone from Sydney - I love cockatoos! They are so raucous and silly
The Museums are free.
woahh we missed out 😮 will have to visit next time

Cockatoo's are like a Mischievous silly bird that are incredibly smart !!!! Bloody noisy though
Welcome to Australia. If you have time, don't waste it going to Bondi, get on the train to Cronulla and walk The Esplanade south to Salmon Haul Bay.

Checkout the view from the top bar Shangra- la hotel - it’s free if it’s still there in the rocks?

Devil banshee made me laugh. I love them but they are very loud and very smart.
Remember Sydney is a very small sample of Australia!!
Fyi, Perth was recently voted best city to visit in the world in a Flight Centre survey of 170,000 plus global travellers. Sydney rated 15th….
Sorry 😂 Melbourne voted most liveable city in the world 7 times beat that Perth 😂
@ Maaate, you’ve gone off on a tangent. The survey was best city to “visit”.
Personally, I like visiting Melbourne but I’d hate to live there.
Are you guys visiting Brisbane or Melbourne?
24 hours. That’s Sydney done.
See any black cockatoos? Might have to come to Queensland to see them.
Lol cockatoo watch is awesome. I hope you saw some bin chickens (Ibis) too :D Oh wait, you did see a bin chicken @14:38
We actually saw one on top of a bin at one point! By the end of the week, we were calling them Australia's pigeons lol - bin chicken is even more perfect 😂
Go to any resto, much better than in US lol
Sulphur crested cockatoos.
Huh!
the little 'thingy' is an Aboriginal flag.
calm down.
"I bet Australians hate them" LOL people who don't have to live anywhere near them like them.
No we don’t
Little did sarah know the opera house is made of 1000% asbestos and now she has mesothelioma and may be entitled to compensation
Only if she is an electrician and did some wiring work in part of it in 2017.
oof, see you're always right that everything is asbestos
we hate magpies the most!
No we don't magpies are lovely birds. Just be nice and make friends and ya set.
I have 3 or 4 Magpies in my Yard Every Day they are adorable why would you Hate them Coming From a South Aussie Here
ohhh we heard they're pretty aggressive! Sarah will probably love them anyway 😂
@@twobetweennot aggressive at all, they only take care of their eggs when nesting, 99% of the time they just look at you 😂
Being in a country for 1 day! What a waste of time. You may as well not go. 😂
